Most likely scenario: I (or even a previous host) started doing the highlighting for some teams pages, and ran out of gas halfway through the process, at some point in the past two years.
-
Yeah, I saw that the highlighting of double names didn't work. I tried a quick and easy fix yesterday evening, but that didn't work either, so it's on the to-do list (for next year). I think the best solution might even be to do the highlighting in the excel submission form. But I will change the DDP database as well (for next year). The pick change will happen, of course, probably this evening. Now, Dr. Demento.... that's tough. I have to look into it, but it's possible the code is now hard fixed into the "h" category, i.e. fixing it would require deleting the old entry, and make a new one.
-
Thanks Toast! Indeed, if any of you want to participate in the searches for images for our new picks, reach out to me. I will open up a a small forum next weekend. The work requires you to search for photos of our new picks on the internet, to cut them down to size, rename them and send them to the DDP address. It's less work than last year, as we had two years to do then. And it's almost like we are getting to the bottom of that well, but we'll see!

Alright, three more obits for now with Charles McGee, Gary Waldhorn and Bob Falkenburg. Everett Lee is waiting for an obit. I have already cleaned up a bit, and especially hope that the John Prescott thing is gone. Thank you Grim Up North, for collecting the teams in these past weeks, for the ton of dialogue with the players, and the work in sorting out the picks and teams. A huge effort, well done!
-
Acknowledged. I know that one from my own searches. We might have to discuss this name in the committee.

McGee even with DDP obit, but I am still in clean-up mode: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/17344799/general-charles-mcgee-tuskegee-airmen-death/

Yeah, it's a work in progress. But I think you all want to get the first good look at this. You can post any remarks here, I will work on them bit by bit. The teams info needs a lot of updating, I am very aware. You know, the highest rank, and years in DDP statistic. This hasn't really been updated in a while. And it is my aim to have a separate excel database for this. It needs - probably - a mostly complete overview of how all teams did in all years. The Man In Black used to have such a thing, I have heard, but it got lost. And since then, with every passing year, the info got a little more outdated. I am hoping to do something about this. Have a little patience.

I always wonder if there's an official announcement in this. But yeah, congratulations Banana! You did what I wanted to do in this pool but can't find the time with the DDP and such. Lots of effort, great success, well done.

I don't quite have an idea, but well, now I know that Bananarama's "Robert De Niro's Waiting" is about date rape, hmm...

So, let's move ahead a little, because I have a time slot available right now. First of all, the DDP disqualifications are now mostly done. There were some disqualifications, and as per the rules, it means that they also count here. Golf player Brian Morris and Martha Sepulveda are out. I'm very sorry, but the three of you who suffer from these disqualifications have provided subs, so Anne Nolan, David Lynch and Bill Turnbull are in for you. In terms of new hits, we could have had more? I see Jana Bennett, Robert Durst, Francis Jackson (unique for DDT!), and Dwayne Hickman (impressive solo hit for The Spinosaurus, well done!). Oh, and Sidney Poitier, of course! And Joan Copeland, a first solo hit for markb4. Well, that's eight hits in 14 days. It's okay, I think. Well, it's the beginning of the year and I still have to acquaint myself with all the names of this game, it's a bit unwieldy, and I dont yet have the DDP as a memory support. So if I missed any hit, let me know. In terms of the scoreboard, Cpt. Chorizo just continues where he stopped... just not missing a beat! Rank Team Score 1 Cpt. Why not Ruth Slenczynska, very old pianist recording another album: https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-59986543 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruth_Slenczynska She was a child prodigy at 4, so she has a 93-year long career behind her.

I would expect the candidates list on Sunday.

Heh, I can't even remember saying that. And yet, I have them both on my team this year. Phelan might be a late January to mid-February death, so James would be an August death. She was on my 2022 draft very early on, but then I took her off because she's very open about all the ups and downs, and she was feeling better for a while. But then Greg Gilbert died, and I thought time is running out for our long-time bowel cancer trio (Gilbert, James and Alagiah).

So here it is, the All Too Well short film: Your turn, @ThereWillBeDeaths7. The pure song, at over ten minutes, is the longest no 1 hit ever.
-
Well done, An Fear Beag! Winning your own deadpool, makes it worth it ;).
-
Correct! On mobile now, so I'll edit the videos in tomorrow.
-
^^ well, "far more successful" means that this recent release couldn't get any higher in the charts, "more recent" means VERY recent, it's length is record-breaking, and yes, the music video was a small movie. And also, half the artist's name is in the previous post. These hints should make it clear very well.

I really have no idea where to post this, but my completely bonkers main team pick Steve Woodmore, aka "World's fastest talker", just got a whole lot more realistic: https://www.woodmore.co.uk/a-quick-cancer-update/

Some kind of "local celebrity" thread might be nice.
