Meh, I thought he'd end the Deathrace after he "declined" and "deteriorated", etc..... They wrote him dead already.
-
Yes, they controlled for type of surgery. That was my first thought as well, but it seems they took that into consideration.
-
Heh. I had Carol Brickell as a fourth sub or something like that, basically as a last resort, because she was too marginal for me, her only book being a cancer book. But yeah, we should avoid having to find out the names of each "grandma goes to hospice today" on Twitter at the 30th of December.

Doug Kuzma a hit for me: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/17243320/doug-kuzma-dead-covid-podcast/ (Edit: Yahoo obit was there: https://uk.news.yahoo.com/anti-vax-radio-host-got-171004945.html)

Acclaimed US director Peter Bogdanovich (Paper Moon, What's Up Doc) dead at 82: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/peter-bogdanovich-dead-last-picture-show-1235070769/

You also have 12 hits in 6 months. Very well done!

I'd like to replace my hit Gary Burgess with Catherine Wybourne, please.

Also, damn, last year we got the Top 50 for the Inverse pool by January 10th - that was amazingly fast. We will not surpass or match that.

I remember a few very close misses last year. Jean-Louis Trintignant, for example. I think he'll make a comeback. Another one was Norman Lloyd, who has died in the meantime. I do wonder about Clint Eastwood. Very big, very casual name. Basically in competition with some names from the young-ish but very ill category, especially Francoise Hardy and Milos Zeman. Bobby Charlton will be in, of course. Donald Trump probably not. Tony Bennett "should" have been in already, now he definitely will. I wonder if the Oomph behind Yoko Ono will remain.

Oh, I definitely deserve that place in the Hall of Shame. I only have myself to blame. I had the better deck and didn't use it. Still, Cpt. Chorizo also got my number of hits, so skill-wise it's a tie, and what can I say, he outsmarted me by not being so terribly stupid with that joker. I was smug and thought that there will definitely be at least one full house in my deck, alas...

I will try to defend my title, with an even less impressive performance of jumping just as high as I need to.

gcreptile replied to Dr. Zorders's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Already the most 2022 sentence of the year: "Her clients will no longer be able to own the physical jar of Stephanie’s gas, but they will be able to purchase them as digital artworks on the blockchain." -
"Digital Nun" Catherine Wybourne just had her "final" video conference with her doctor:

I would very much guess so. The committee likes the New York and, dare-I-say, jewish comedy / stand-up scene. Sid Caesar, Rodney Dangerfield, George Burns, or more recently, Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks and Jerry Stiller - with some of these growing up and learning their trade in New York before moving to California. You can already predict that Woody Allen will eventually be on the list, and Jerry Seinfeld, too, if the list lives long enough. (Edit: other names: Larry David, Bette Midler, Billy Crystal (!)) Except for Mel Brooks, these names have all been successes for the list, by the way.

Isn't the use of the logo copyright infringement? It's on the merch, after all.

Women are more likely to die if their surgeon is male: https://www.theguardian.com/society/2022/jan/04/women-more-likely-die-operation-male-surgeon-study Hm, so who is operating on Khaleda Zia?

Jean Luc Godard... again....
-
I would agree, him being no. 1 is somewhat understandable from the point of the committee, but other names sound more logical. I think globally, Pelé is the most-watched person for a feared or even expected death (like Prince Philip was last year). QE II probably 2nd, Pope Benedict 3rd.

"Cancer will probably get me in the end" says Alagiah on a new podcast: https://www.theguardian.com/media/2022/jan/03/cancer-will-probably-get-me-in-the-end-says-george-alagiah Still, he's not on the clock yet as the cancer grows rather slowly.
-
Uhh... Jean-Luc Godard.
-
Oh, I've had him in pretty much everything. DDP teams submitted on the 29th. Death By Numbers team finalised on Dec 15th, Deathrace joker submitted on the 30th. etc...
-
Very nice to hear. I think that work will be done roughly around Jan 20th - Feb 10th or something like that. It will roughly be half as much work as last time, as we had to do 2 years last time.

I get that six months, six hits pool score. Lots of us kept trying for that. And I won in a squeaker just before Bob Dole followed David Gulpilil.
