Robin Fransman, Dutch critic of COVID policies and anti-vax economist, dead from COVID at 53: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/17169973/robin-fransman-vaccine-skeptic-died-covid-19/ Many economists would probably agree that, occasionally, some culling is required.

Second to last update: Alright, just a few more days, but remember, obits may come in for a few more days in 2022. So we are not quite through yet. But for now, Arthur Hoyle Smith, the oldest living UK footballer, is a late hit for chilean way because of the BBC end of year list. Congratulations! Just now we've had Harry Reid and John Madden, picked here and there. April Ashley is a unique hit for Gooseberry Crumble. And then, the most popular hit, Desmond Tutu. The resulting scoreboard has a few small changes here and there. But realistically, Cpt. Chorizo has got this in the bag. There will be one more update at the end of the first week of 2022. Oh, we had two John Prescotts, and it seems the wrong photo survived... meh. This one is a "Tom Jones Impersonator". It can be corrected next year though. By the way, we now have 271 hits. 7 left to tie, 8 hits left to break the record. So we need some more year-end list obits. If you find any QOs, let me know. We are close.

Ted Gardner, co-founder of Lollapaloozza, and busy manager of gothic/dark bands, has died: https://www.the-sun.com/news/4355750/ted-gardner-lollapalooza-dead-news/

Well, the rules say the year of birth needs to be known to determine the points. Which has basically been done in a way that as long as we know how many points to award, then it's fine. We have had lots of people with only a known age of death, meaning the year of birth can be one out of two.

I would agree with the high-scoring part. More like 2017 than 2018. Not sure about the readily playable sub-50s, unless one goes with a probabilistic approach like "50% of those will be a hit - which is fine enough".

Russian right-wing blogger and Crimean Invasion supporter Yegor Prosvirnin, dead at 35, after failing out of the window... strange... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10348293/Founder-Russian-nationalist-blog-falls-death-Moscow-window.html He also predicted the eventual collapse of Putin's Russia.

Such a list might be useful, but changes every year. I'd just look at the current active threads. And just one exception: Deathrace deadline is 30th Decembre.

Every site still showing a Tim Bilton "obit" shouldn't count for any deadpool whatsoever. These ones are the worst kind of copy/paste with no own journalistic effort. I saw them during the Cup much too often, and was angry at them giving an english "obit" for the most marginal people. "Usdaynews", "memesrandom", "topinfoguide", and so on and on. None of these are worth anything.

Britney Spears, Kerry Katona, Heather Locklear et al.

Kerry Katona says she caught COVID for a 2nd time and feels worse, not better. Just in time to be your Deathrace joker: https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/17151488/kerry-katona-sparks-worry-worse-covid/ -
I don't have my Excel sheet with me, but I think I picked Ray Illingworth at no.8. So, 3rd sub in.

Times and Telegraph obits are up already, and while they don't mention a date, as long as there is no evidence of the contrary, I'll go with the consensus. But maybe something new will come up in the next 2 days until I return.

Good point, and personally, I am more a "no" on the fame question, but there are other pools as well.

The Deathlist Christmas Special!

I lost on the 19th in a karaoke bar. Some girls didn't find their song on the songlist so they had to choose a replacement, and they did this, sadly. -
No idea if she's actually notable enough, nor if she would obit, but Anastasia Golovashkina, former social media director of Elizabeth Warren, has Glioblastoma: https://www.elle.com/life-love/a35651902/glioblastoma-cancer-moonshot-covid-19-vaccine/ I only know that because of today's tweet of her, which I was unable to link to from here. The TJ Ducklo of 2022?
