Alright, recent events require an update... Everyone and their dog has picked David Gulpilil, but not a single use as a joker. Everyone except for a few dogs has picked Sir Frank Williams. However, I just noticed that there is also "Dad's Army" Frank Williams, and I didn't check in January which one you meant - so it's SIR Frank Williams for everyone, seems weird to pick the other one when the racing boss was the much likelier bet. Dean Stockwell is an, of course, unique hit for Gooseberry Crumble. Clarissa Eden is a unique pick for The Old Crem. 20 points is better than no points... And well, no obit for Val Bettin it seems. And so far, no obits for Belinda Sykes and Mustafa Cengiz. The result: Rank Team Score 1 Cpt. Political Discussions And Ranting Thread
gcreptile replied to Deathray's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Typical woman - why can't she just decide and be done with It?! -
Yeah, it's the research that went into the Cup, especially Albert Raboteau and Nadia Chaudhri in various deadpools. Have to say though, Abdul Qadeer Khan I picked only because drol posted about him.

This current storm had to be expected I guess, after the fairly quiet two weeks. In addition to Elder, Gulpilil and WIlliams, other people still waiting for obits are Andrew Romanoff, Wilf Oldham and Mustafa Cengiz, just in the past two days. We need 35 more hits to break the record. It's going to be very close.

Well, thats done ;). Bob Dole is a real fighter...
-
It actually happened?? Saving grace for my DDP team sitting on three (!) non-obits right now.
-
Another DDP pick, though right now, it seems the List of the Lost is growing faster than the number of hits.
-
He has english ones, but no qualifying ones so far. Admittedly, his resignation from the position in August decreased the chances. Maybe some match reports mention a tribute next week.

Who would rather beat Robert Solow in a fight, Kabosu the original Doge, or transcendentalism?

Mustafa Cengiz, president of Galatasaray Istanbul, dead of cancer at 71: https://www.fotomac.com.tr/galatasaray/2021/11/28/son-dakika-galatasarayin-eski-baskani-mustafa-cengiz-hayatini-kaybetti DDP pick for my B-Team.

Finally... not for him but for the List in general. I have a feeling that there'll be a bunch of hits now. They seem to come in clusters, and we've been waiting for this one for quite a while.
-
Alright, it seems these people are still missing from the List of the Lost - as of today - the year isn't over. I am doubting very much that I will manage to go through the whole database to check for the List of the Missed. I did it last year, and msc had a good look at it just a bit ago. We should be okay here.

In my opinion, yes.

Well, it does look like Irish cartoonist Ken(neth) Mahood died on Dec 30th 2020, which wasn't picked up by us, even though he was picked. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9103503/Tributes-pour-Mail-cartoonist-Ken-Mahood-dies-90.html I am not going to adjust the team though -because the replacement hasn't died yet. If it still happens, I will, but not now.

UK historian and DDP theme team pick Richard Repp died a few days ago: https://www.stx.ox.ac.uk/article/in-memoriam-dr-richard-c.-repp He was an expert on Turkish history.

One of GUN's theme team climbers, Sajid Sadpara developed a life-threatening altitude sickness during the K2 ascent. Nevertheless, he is planning another expedition:

Thoughts and Opinions on the 2021 Deathlist
gcreptile replied to Charles De Gaulle's topic in DeathList Forum
I was just about to post him as a suggestion for 2022 but then a funny thing happened on the way to the forum. -
His death was as unexpected as getting to 91 to begin with, at least to me. RIP

Stephen Sondheim a hit, but not a winning one.

Ahem, yes it's late, but.... List of the Lost
-
Yeah, I am following it. However, three of the four people featured this week died weeks before Sykes. Well, wait and see...
