Random old name observations.... so, Wesley Pipes, apparently he actually had cancer, got a port inserted into his body in 2014 - carried it until 2020, and then it was removed. Since then, he's been in remission:

    Ideas and possibilities 2022

I picked him in deadpools in 2020 here and there because of a supposed cancer diagnosis. But then apparently, it turned out it wasn't cancer after all. Still, the earlier cancer was real and he does seem to be in declining health. His son is also a bit of a star in Mexico.

    World War II Veterans

So I was looking at my mostly forgotten picks in the Arghton's deadpool, and stumbled across the funeral of "Bletchley Girl" Marigold Freeman-Attwood. Died in May at 98: https://vimeo.com/566780865 https://groups.google.com/g/peerage-news/c/_PowcA7G6GU Also, another Bletchley Girl of mine, Jean Pitt-Lewis, mentioned in this church letter, don't know what that means though: https://stmarysrcchepstow.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Monmouth-Newsletter-3th-November-2019.pdf

    The Dead of 2021

Maybe some media outfit will pick up the "poet who was supported by the stars dies" story. Could take a few days though until some celebrity pays tribute or something. Ah well, the Poker Tourney is a little short, and so the risk is relatively necessary. Axel Kahn actually got a uk.news.yahoo obit, through that url change, but it's in french! (And so fails the DDP criterion)

    The Dead of 2021

Sandra Richardson, Liverpool poet and activist, died yesterday according to her wife's instagram (Clare Beloved). Picked in Deadpools here and there, mostly by me, but also by DDT.

Morteza Mehrzad, second-biggest person of the world, and a Paralympian: https://www.spiegel.de/sport/olympia/paralympics-2021-sitzvolleyballer-morteza-mehrzad-koerpergroesse-2-46-meter-blockhoehe-im-sitzen-1-96-meter-a-2794a721-cd1d-41ef-8661-65dfe1183597 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morteza_Mehrzad Appparently unbeatable in sit-volleyball, but also disabled because of his uneven growth, and sadly, seems like an early death.

    I'll see you in court

Good thread, in my opinion. I think it's a case of "lawyers needing to lawyer". I had to post it because it reminded me a bit of that Bob Dylan case of a week ago. Looks also dubious, and more like a soft case of extortion. Now, maybe I should sue Jeff Bezos for a million or two for some extremely dubious case, but he'll accept to settle because he earns a million in a second and the court case costs him more than the settlement, simply because it takes a few minutes of his time.
  16. The person who was the baby on Nirvana's "Nevermind" album sues for "sexual exploitation" / child pornography: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/baby-nirvana-nevermind-album-cover-sues-band-child-porn/ I guess he'd have a point if he hadn't revealed in numerous articles, that yes, he was the baby on the cover, e.g.: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2015/jan/16/thats-me-picture-spencer-elden-nirvana-nevermind "It's opened doors for me..." yadda, yadda...

Which leaves us with the question whether his variant of ALS is one of the faster kind, or whether it just looks that way because he didn't work out. I kind of think it's the former.
