Former US representative of Oregon, Elizabeth Furse dead of a fall at 84: https://www.oregonlive.com/politics/2021/04/former-oregon-congresswoman-elizabeth-furse-has-died.html She was born in the British colony of Kenya, grew up in South Africa, and married a US citizen. Then she became the first naturalized American to win a seat in Congress. Interesting.

Neat, apparently I'm the first one with 5 hits now. In the long run, though, having picked Kane Tanaka and Soeur André (the Sarah Knauss and Jeanne Calment of the 2020s) might hurt me.

Apparently an unmentioned name on the forum, so far, Derek Granger, veteran British TV producer of the Golden Age. He's about to turn 100 and the Guardian has an interview with him: https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2021/apr/19/olivier-was-jealous-of-me-tv-drama-pioneer-derek-granger-at-100 Seems fine so far, but that could change quickly.

Oh, possibly fellow Brighton drag queen and contestant on season two Joe Black? https://www.theargus.co.uk/news/18988546.top-drag-queen-brings-1920s-glamour-bbc/ Who had a short memorable spell on the show, btw. And is actually a prominent artist outside of the show as well.

John Williamson, British-born economist who coined the term "Washington Consensus" has died at 83: https://www.bloombergquint.com/gadfly/john-williamson-s-washington-consensus-left-a-bitter-legacy-in-asia The Washington Consensus was the standard neoliberal formula used by our global overlords (World Bank, OECD, and the like) to reform the economies of developing countries, especially in Latin America and Asia. The general guidelines then became a bit of a free-market gospel that created a lot of resentment in the afflicted countries, because often they actually made them wholly dependent on new credit, which they received in exchange for market-radical reforms.
