So the virus is currently ravaging cabinet level politicians in Zimbabwe. I think, that's definitely the case. Many African countries (also poor regions of India, Pakistan, etc....) might lack the diagnostic tools to discover the COVID cases. If you look at the statistics of very developed countries, take Switzerland for example, about 6% of the population had Covid. Now, Switzerland was fairly liberal until quite recently, but they have the ability to diagnose almost all of their COVID cases. I think it's reasonable to assume that about 5-6% of the world population has had COVID by now. Which means that instead of the 100 Million official cases, we have had about 350 Million cases. In terms of death rates, even in developed countries, we have a death rate of roughly 1-2%. So think we have had about 3,5-7 Million COVID deaths by now, instead of the roughly 2 Million "official" deaths.

I thought I recognized the name from somewhere.... she also was the mysterious crashed french woman on Lost, Danielle Rousseau.

Placido Domingo, the great Spanish tenor, currently 78 years old, had colon cancer in 2010, a pulmonary embolism in 2016, and got #metoo-ed in 2019. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plácido_Domingo Will he be the second of the Three Tenors to go?

Oh wow, I didn't know she had been mentioned on the forum before. So I can't claim to secretly sit on a pick for 3 years to strike just when the moment was right.

Yeah, saw that. He's the next one to go, after Carter... and before Biden.

These people live too long. The committee probably wanted to wait until "Republican foreign policy guru of the 70s" Henry Kissinger was dead, before they put Shultz on the list. But the problem was, Kissinger is still alive! Now Shultz might be "Republican foreign policy guru of the 80s" and the committee probably thinks he's going to die soon, and then they can put James Baker, "Republican foreign policy guru of the 90s", on the list. But let's be honest, none of them will die in the next 5 years.

I am taking a bit of a breather, for a few days. I'll make a note of that in the back of my mind.

What a missed opportunity in the DDP...

As seen in the main forum, Paul Varelans is dead, hit for me. More importantly, An Fear Beag wins, congratulations!!

He has already received quality finnish obits and will definitely score. It just depends on when the game runners see it. If they don't, we will notify them.
-
Second update: We have Julie Strain, Stacy Title, Tommy Lasorda and Sylvain Sylvain. Ezra Nawi is looking for an obit. Will the broadsheets save him (or actually, those who picked him?)? And Kathy Shaidle didn't even get a "real" article anywhere. Most likely a miss - but we have to whole year to look. Anyway, the result is a scoreboard that has Cpt. Chorizo leading. After I had looked at all the teams, I actually thought, that's the most solid one. Rank Team Score 1 Cpt. DDP pick as well. Usually, these people wouldn't get a QO, but let's see if it escalates...
-
Congratulations Joey! Well earned!

Next time, I'll just switch my teams for Deathrace and Hare's deadpool just before submitting.
-
I ignore the Doug Stanhope pool, so I can't comment on that. But I would be surprised if it wasn't the DDP - at least on the internet. I'm sure, the Bilderberg Group has their own pool.
-
Maybe it's time we edit this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_pool I mean, the rotten deadpool isn't the biggest anymore. If it ever was.

Hm, only one team picked Alexej Nawalny. Might not be the worst pick.

Be careful what you wish for . All these info / birthdate changes are easy to do - so these can come quickly, and I don't mind. I might do some corrections next weekend, so I'm sure that some descriptions will be amended by next week. So hold your fire until then. After that, I'm open to suggestions. (By the way, the birthdate errors are regrettable but not necessarily fatal, because the score is calculated not by birthyear, but by age at death which has to be entered separately. Only exception: Birthday hits.) The reason for these things is that there is an Excel file that gets carried over from year ro year, and there is a "current year access file". Whenever we change something, we have to change it twice, basically. Or the old state returns in the following year. Remember, in 2017/18 The Man in Black departed fairly suddenly, so Spade had to salvage the game as good as possible. I'll gladly make a note and add your description.
