US blogger on aging, Ronni Bennett, died last night at 79: https://www.timegoesby.net/ She got some Washington Post coverage, and her pancreatic cancer diagnosis got her into my Hare's team last year. She seemed to be doing okay with it though, for quite some time.

That reminds me... both Liz Taylor and Paul Newman in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" - both absolutely gorgeous.

I have submitted a team for the second round... But I guess I need to see if the team gets cleared...because it's bonkers.
-
Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling.... and once Halle Berry, that was just a phase...

Third loss of my preliminary 2021 team in as many weeks... I kind of wanted to go for someone I share the birthday with. Oh yeah, committee, yaddayadda...

Sad for this particular person, but not sad for winning the competition, see you in the next round, and thanks!

If anyone has a place of death, let me know. Would be a shame to update Nobby without it.

Those will be two long months for me. As long as Susan Bayh is alive (or doesn't obit), I should remain the favourite. But if not, there are too many possibilities and still too much time to beat me. On the other hand, Ady Barkan looks very, very bad in today's Rolling Stone interview. He's been declining a lot in the past month or two. I hope he can at least see a Biden win, but he hasn't got much time left. But might slip into 2021 yet!

Jacques Delors again. I guessed 16 hits this year. So, one more.

Quite a few hits for me lately, but without a daily double I can not fight for the title.

Hows Your 2021 Shortlist Looking?
gcreptile replied to Deathray's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
You know, as we end the year in a global lockdown, I could imagine a record participation in the DDP next year. And I think there will be lots of teams spending a lot of time on research in December. For example, I don't even know if I will be able or allowed to visit my family this Christmas. I'm looking at a year-end holiday of two weeks with nothing else to do but googling stuff (well, and a little gaming and maybe eventually getting around to watch Better Call Saul). -
COVID 19 - Second Wave

I actually wondered if the "being alone at Christmas" might have an opposite effect this time. I mean, not being able to visit anyone is not as bad as not having anybody to visit. -
Who will win the 2020 US Presidential Election?
gcreptile replied to Windsor's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Still wrong, that 85% was before the Comey thing. On Nov 3rd it was down to 66,9%. It's in the article you cite! I remember very clearly that Nate emphasized Trump's chances more than others. Many people were very angry at him. -

I think that must be a different Nate Silver. -
Well, every prime minister is automatically thread-worthy. We're just being a little ahead of time here.

Another shortlist loss. His cancer came back recently. His fate was sealed.

Well, there were worse threads than this, including some by me, but not many. It certainly doesn't seem to amount to a new Chappaquiddick incident.
