    The Joker's Dead Pool 2020

Okay, so I updated my list and seem to arrive at 18 hits so far. Can't believe I actually picked people liike Jörn Donner and John Hume anywhere.

    Derby Dead Pool 2020

My video card is on its last legs since yesterday, so I've taken the opportunity and bought a new computer. It's going to take a few days until I have transferred all the old files (hard drive still working, so no worries on that front). Normal service is going to resume at the weekend I think.

    John Hume

Big one... and maybe a miss. As great as the DeathList is doing right now, I can't stop thinking that we could have had a few more hits by now.

    Pope Benedict XVI

I interpret this news in the way that Benedict wants to recover once more, and to write some kind of testament/final thoughts. The current infection is not going to kill him. But he's got less than a year left. A few months, maybe.

Oh yeah, delay the election until it's "safe to vote again".... then fuck up the country so that it'll never be safe...

    Read Any Good Books Lately?

So I've read Mary Trump's book on her family and how it created Donald. The juicy bits have all been leaked and there is not much really new information. But similar to the Jeffrey Epstein documentary on Netflix, it does a good job of giving a narrative to make sense of what's happening. Maybe the price tag for the book is a bit too high though.

    Derby Dead Pool 2020

Lots of plausible names... ... and we are in the phase when we wonder if our "certain hits" at the end of 2019 are still "certain hits" in the remaining months of 2020. Well, if you ask me: Alagiah: To me, he seemed very, very stable in the past years - so that I think that even with the cancer in the lungs, he's going to last a few months into 2021 Banali: Was supposed to be a certain hit in 2020 - I still think he is. He's currently "hanging in there" and "fighting the good fight". "Doing well considering the circumstances". Lots of buts and ifs. N. Conway: Haven't heard much of him in a while, there'll be no suicide bonus points, but he could leave this earth any day Gulpilil: He was also supposed to be a lock in 2020 - and now that he's still alive, you wonder if he still is... Kerslake: He had a cancer recurrence in March and silence since then... I gave him 6 months, i.e. until September. Yoo Sang-Chul: Supposedly doing better, but I wouldn't underestimate pancreatic cancer. Still, not nearly as much of a lock as originally thought. Tom Smith: Hanging in there, could fall to a quick deterioration - or not. Everyone's joker in 2021 if he survives the year Leon Spinks: Very shaky health. Lots of different ailments that could fuse into something lethal.... or he might also hang for a while like Errol Christie. Nobby Stiles: He could be dead tomorrow - or linger on for years as some dementia folks do. Alex Trebek: Stable, and looking more and more likely to survive 2020. I wouldnt't pay attention to all the thousand things he said last week, during the PR-campaign of his book. Jean-Louis Trintignant: Should have been dead by now. Bill Turnbull: Probably not nearly as close to death as some people think - the cancer is rather slow. Van Halen: Might be doing worse than generally thought, but that's (mostly) just my feeling. But then, even if his throat cancer is really aggressive, he might yet beat it under heavy cost, like Val Kilmer.
  22. Well, in the media, and on my mind, it was only from February and March on - on that massive scale.

    Minimalists (and other classical composers/musicians)

So they say Jon Hassell's medical emergency was breaking his leg: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/jul/28/jon-hassell-musics-great-globetrotter-be-more-aware-of-the-rest-of-the-world Curious though why his GoFundMe says that "regaining his weight" is a top priority.
  24. IMO, the biggest death so far, was Kobe Bryant. But because it happened before Corona, it feels weirdly long ago. That death dominated for 2-3 days. Ghislaine Maxwell also has big death potential. If it happens, there will be conspiracy theories for years (again). In terms of biggest names... I don't know. Yes, we might not have had the A+ names, but we certainly had A-names, and quite a few at that, especially on the death list, but also Ennio Morricone and John Lewis and Kobe.
