Interesting article about the 8 people who locked themselves up in an Arizona glasshouse and lived for 2 years in their own independent biosphere ("Biosphere 2"): https://www.theguardian.com/film/2020/jul/13/spaceship-earth-arizona-biosphere-2-lockdown The initiator of the project, John P. Allen, is still alive at 91: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_P._Allen

As a successor for Henry Kissinger, should he ever leave this plane for Baator, what about Donald Rumsfeld, now 88?
-
That does not sound very assuring. Something obviously requires him to rest. Is it the treatment or the cancer itself?

Sorry, no one had. Excel mistake of mine. Scoreboard updated.

Update time: New hits: Replacement Nick Cordero, part-replacement, part-already picked Jack Charlton (Great Uncle Bulgaria subbed him in, well done), Everton Weekes a unique hit for Torva, and Ennio Morricone. Mark Naley seems more likely to be a non-obit than not as of now. And as I begin my usual descent down the scoreboard post-replacement period (even Zanardi and Draper won't help, because as predicted, everyone else subbed them in, too), look who is suddenly there at no. 2: Rank Team Score 1 Death Impends 849 2 msc 683 3 gcreptile 661 4 RadGuy 626 5 Book 619 6 Banana 608 7 Joey Russ 607 8 Cpt. There's a Netflix documentary out now. Very obvious that 2019 was going to be his final year in hindsight.

Kane Tanaka is only 70 days away from the nr. 3 spot. I think she'll make it, but for a 117-year-old every single day is another achievement.

Glasgow Rangers hero (?) Scott Nisbet has metastatic kidney cancer: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/rangers-hero-scott-nisbet-battling-22332124 I guess it's not the biggest name, but he had European appearances.

Well, thank God (or Goddess, or fate, or whatever) he didn't outlive all his three sons.

Sad... absolute legend. Even breaking news here in Germany.

So I came across a list of the "50 most influential living philosophers", it was written around 2017/18: https://thebestschools.org/features/most-influential-living-philosophers/ Kwame Anthony Appiah - born 1954 - identity philosopher (especially race) - seems fine Alain Badiou - born 1937 - leading marxist philosopher, playwright, etc... likely obitable Simon Blackburn - born 1944 - UK philosopher, apparently trying to popularize it? Obitable, because british Robert Brandom - born 1950 - language philosopher - probably not obitable Tyler Burge - born 1946 - general philosopher - in good form and not very obitable Judith Butler - born 1956 - THE gender studies philosopher - as such almost an A-list celebrity, but quite young, especially on this list Nancy Cartwright - born 1944 - philosopher of science / social science and economics - not to be confused with the voice of Bart Simpson, she got a few lifetime acheivement awards and seems to be winding down David Chalmers - born 1966 - leading philosopher on consciousness, and thus rather obitable - he seems a bit of a "rock star philosopher", less drugged up than Slavoj Zizek though, and so still much too young Noam Chomsky - born 1928 - A-list celebrity as a political commentator - we know him Andy Clark - born 1957 - UK-born, so likely obitable but a lesser name here it seems, also a philosopher of consciousness ...to be continued.... . . Jaegwon Kim - born 1934 - died in 2019 - only received a few obituaries . John J McDermott - born 1932 - died in 2018 - only received the professional obituaries . Mary Midgley - born 1919 - died in 2018 obited with ease, as a Briton . Cornel West - born 1953 - public intellectual with a big role in all things Black American - public critic of Obama, too . Slavoj Zizek - born 1949 - counter-culture marxist pop philosopher - huge name because of his quirky self, known health troubles and probably not long for this world So in 2,5 years 3 names on this list have died.

An interesting advantage, as Swami is likely younger than Death Impends' joker Tommy Palmer. But Palmer's age is slightly murky, as that one article about his cancer diagnosis only said that he's had a 60-year career since the age of 16. So is he 76 or just about that? Swami was 74 - so almost no difference.... I also think that Gail Klock is a good pick...and after Ratzinger, Palmer, Swami and Klock, that's where their common picks end. I assume that there will be unique hits in this interesting match-up, so the question of Tommy Palmer's exact age might not matter after all.

Jessie Ware's new album "What's Your Pleasure" - pleasant disco, neatly filling spaces between David Bowie's Let's Dance, and Robyn's output. Jessie Ware - Save A Kiss I should note by now that my musical investigations are often based on blogger Anthony Fantano's reviews ("theneedledrop"). -
I guess the theories that Kim tries to avoid the virus by hiding sound true. It seems that whenever someone on the inner circle gets tested, he disappears for a couple of weeks.

Well... not sure if I am telling something universally known or not.. but, you know, Shaun Ryder, he did have a cancer scare during lockdown, something benign on his testicles: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-8400815/Shaun-Ryder-reveals-faced-cancer-scare-lockdown-benign-growth-testicle.html
