So .. What Do You Watch On TV?
gcreptile replied to Banshees Scream's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I finished the German Netflix original "Dark" today. It's Stranger Things turning into Lost - might be a recommendation for Toast, actually. The series finale is out this week, after three seasons. It mostly gets it right. Mystery series always struggle when it comes to wrapping things up. But the story was much more concise than Lost, better characters, more answers. Not everything makes sense, but the ratio is quite good. -
Bump Edit: Also funny that neither Spade nor I picked him. I mentioned Cisovsky as a possibility for 2020, but only because I remembered Spade's post above.
-
Well done, Spade. You called it three years ago.

The Daily Mail now followed him to Home Depot: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-8454093/Alex-Trebek-enjoys-errand-day-Home-Depot-wife-son-despite-cancer-diagnosis-COVID-19.html Looks to me that he grows a beard and his face got a little thinner. But then, you don't go to Home Depot if your life is about to end?

Already suggested on this forum here and there, singer Benny Mardones continues to be ill. He has been moved to hospice care in April, not because he's dying but so that he gets better care: https://www.syracuse.com/coronavirus/2020/05/benny-mardones-is-bedridden-and-isolated-to-avoid-coronavirus-he-would-love-a-card.html

Thanks! I can always count on you to teach me/us obscure pop culture references.

I actually think that's revisionist thinking machinated by market conservatives to equate leftism with fascism. Both right-wing and left-wing prefer a strong state. I have yet to see a significant free-market defender who does not invest heavily into the military or for whom market conservatism is not simply freedom from regulation so that they can fill their own pockets.

She was asking for it - literally!

If Hitler is left-wing, then who or what is right-wing? However, I also think there's something valid in the horseshoe theory: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseshoe_theory#:~:text=In political science and popular,a horseshoe are close together.

Alex Zanardi is going to stay in an induced coma for a little while... some sites are reporting that he might lose his eyes.... maybe it's time to put him out of his misery? https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/53151855

Oh yeah, I watched the news about his tourney yesterday. That was doomed to fail.

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

^^ That one has top credentials, as not everyone might know (but you do). Venezuelan producer Arca has a new album out soon - I'm liking what I hear so far. They are getting somewhere on their constant musical transition. -
UK publisher Felicity Bryan already dead at 74, shortly after she announced her cancer-related retirement: https://www.thebookseller.com/news/felicity-bryan-dies-aged-74-1207542

If / When he gets the qualifying obit, then yes.

Comprehensive Banali update: https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/quiet-riot-cancels-arkansas-concert-due-to-serious-health-concerns/ He battles an infection "along with several procedures that need to be addressed". He also lost his hair after a change in the chemo drugs, i.e. the initial treatment didn't work (anymore).

Okay, next result of me combing through the longlist.... it seems that the treatment of the digital nun Catherine Wybourne stopped working as of February 2020: https://www.ibenedictines.org/2020/02/04/world-cancer-day-2020/

Jon Hassell set to release a new album... but then I wonder how much of this is just a (admittedly modest) cash grab: https://pitchfork.com/news/jon-hassell-announces-new-album-shares-new-song-fearless-listen/ The picture in that article looks as if he had a stroke, with the hanging side of the mouth. And he does look almost dead now. -

Hmm, so as I go through my longlist, I notice Argentina judge Claudio Bonadio died in February and received a Reuters UK obit! Oh, he could have been the Hector Timerman of 2020: https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-argentina-judge/argentine-judge-who-took-on-cristina-fernandez-de-kirchner-dies-idUKKBN1ZY21R

Couldn't see any reference to it, so sorry if I missed it. Australian racing legend and OBE Allan Moffat has either dementia and/or Alzheimer's and lives in a care home with round-the-clock care: https://www.speedcafe.com/2020/04/25/where-are-they-now-allan-moffat/

Couple of minutes ago, an update in German: https://www.spiegel.de/sport/formel1/alessandro-zanardi-zustand-des-frueheren-formel-1-piloten-bleibt-kritisch-a-d251e9f8-8175-4f20-9100-a6b8ee38f35c Still critical and in artificial coma, but physically somewhat stable. They worry about his brain... maybe he turns braindead. Edit: Zanardi
