    Death By Numbers 2020

4 hits, okay, that's an update... also, there's nothing else to do. New hits: Kenny Rogers, Anton Coppola, Suzy Delair and Martino Sclavi, who puts me back into pole position. Horse Racing

Irish show horse rider Rory Gilsenan has now received coverage from a QO outfit, but is basically only being described as "man with cancer". https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/man-diagnosed-aggressive-brain-tumour-21696234 Maybe another C-team pick of mine with main team potential.

So .. What Do You Watch On TV?

Never watched it, I am ashamed to admit. It was a time when you either watched Deep Space Nine or Babylon Five, but rarely both. But some critics see similarities between the latter and The Expanse.

So .. What Do You Watch On TV?

I finished the four seasons (so far) of the hard sci-fi opera The Expanse.... and bought the first book of the literary inspiration (Leviathan Wakes). Let's see if I have to buy them all... I can recommend the series. It's a bit heady and dry sometimes (not quite the spectacle of Star Wars, or the clean fun of Star Trek). So binge watching might be a bit straining, but when it's good, it's good... and eventually, it starts looking like the Mass Effect video game series...especially like the somewhat underrated spin-off Mass Effect: Andromeda.

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2021

Maybe we have to create a stickied thread for the newcomers to tell which names do not need to be suggested anymore... because we are kind of the experts on this. Edit: Reaction to the Norman Lloyd mention

Yuri Gagarin''s widow Valentina died recently at 84: https://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory/widow-yuri-gagarin-human-space-dies-84-69647839 I only noticed it because people on Reddit were thinking that it might be a covered up death by coronavirus (no details given).

Nooo.. not Manu Dibango! Sir Creep, Dibango's hit "Soul Makossa" is regarded as the first disco song ever. Edit: Also, listen to it to see where Michael Jackson's "Wanna be starting something" stole from.

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

With a QO it puts RadGuy in the DDP lead, I think. Edit: https://metro.co.uk/2020/03/18/kathy-griffins-mother-maggie-dies-aged-99-chrissy-teigen-pays-tribute-12415148/

    Hollywood Survivors

Screenwriter (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull) and director Paul Schrader would rather die on the job than having it interrupted by the Coronavirus. In his own words he's old and asthmatic: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2020/mar/17/paul-schrader-slams-coronavirus-film-shutdown-says-hed-rather-die-on-the-job Edit: Woops, this thread is Hollywood survivors...well, think of it as a Hollywood possibility

    Coronavirus death toll 2020

So we probably pass 6.500 today. Considering we passed 6.000 only a couple of hours ago, are we now in the >1.000 deaths per day stage? Some thoughts.... this seems bigger than those epidemics of the past 20-30 days, probably because it actually hits "first world" countries. Now, I do wonder what the numbers will be when the virus hits the slums of Lagos, or Dhaka or whatever... but then I think, it probably already has - but it is not much different from a cold, pneumonia or the flu, and so the deaths in developing countries arent recognized as Corona deaths... Ebola, for example, is much more recognizable, with the blood in the lungs, or HIV, with yellow skin, lesions etc... So the real number of Coronavirus deaths might be significantly higher, much like the case number would be much higher if there was more testing.

    Death By Jazz

Interview with Sonny Rollins from three weeks ago: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/02/24/magazine/sonny-rollins-interview.html Unofficially retired because of pulmonary fibrosis, talking a bit about death and reincarnation. But might hang on for a little more.
