Hmm.. getting Stan Lee vibes there.

He must have been in the Top 20 of notable people age-wise, or around that. I think we can determine pretty conclusively if he was the oldest notable person to die unnaturally. But possibly not the oldest person of all. Though we could at least check that for the age of google since every centenarian dying by murder / fire / etc.. should have made the news.

Pablo Ferro, a title designer for classics such as Dr. Strangelove and Clockwork Orange, dead at 83: https://variety.com/2018/film/news/pablo-ferro-dead-dies-title-designer-dr-strangelove-1203031822/ These people have to exist, too. Nice to have a face and a name there.

An outsider journalist was allowed to see him last month: https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018/11/the-redstone-saga-faces-another-new-turn Quote: "Perez reported that Sumner “was in his living room sitting up right in a chair with pillows between his back and the back of the chair.” He wrote that there was “no evidence of physical neglect or abuse.” But, he continued, “Mr. Redstone obviously was incapable of any meaningful communication or ability to conduct any sort of decision-making regarding directing his care and, in my opinion, incapable of conducting any legal or financial transactions whatsoever. He was not responsive to my questions and incapable of being interviewed for even basic information. It was obvious to me in my lay opinion that absent 24 hour care, he was incapable of taking care of himself and mentally non-responsive"

BILD now says it was metastatic lung cancer... I'm not sure how sad/angry it's supposed to make me. That's the part of the media we love to hate.

Terribly off-topic and senseless thread resurrection, but I just read that John McCain was a contestant and one-day champion on Jeopardy! in 1965: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Jeopardy!_contestants#John_McCain

It's getting closer. Slam Guide #13: Michael Schumacher The seven-time Formula One world champion has been invisible since his heavy skiing accident in 2013. Nobody knows how bad it really was, but it apparently must have been extremely bad. How much longer can that body last?

Germany reality TV star Jens Büchner dead at 49: https://www.bild.de/unterhaltung/leute/leute/jens-buechner-ist-tot-goodbye-deutschland-star-mit-49-gestorben-58469710.bild.html (german link) Basically the star character of reality show "Goodbye Deutschland" that told the stories of german emigrees in their new country, their absurd business ideas and culture clashes. He died rather sudden after a period of extreme weight loss. My guess: pancreatic cancer. But nothing is official yet.

Tried looking for some of the world's oldest people for cheap hits, but after the mass exodus of the previous years, I think we're in for a bit of a drought there... Disney animator, Ruthie Thompson, still on for game day: Polish athlete Stanislaw Kowalski, still standing for his 108th birthday in April: Italian composer Cecilia Seghizzi looking quite happy celebarting her 110th birthday in September: http://ilpiccolo.gelocal.it/trieste/cronaca/2018/09/02/news/i-110-anni-di-cecilia-seghizzi-fra-letture-e-tanta-buona-musica-1.17210141 Consideration starts with the eminently obitable WW II resistance fighter Georges Loinger (also featured in the future movie "Resistance") On the 110 club site there is a vast amount of pictures for oldest notable person Qin Hanzhang.

Yeah, it would have been interesting to see what they did during last month's death drought.

Aldyr Schlee, who designed the Brazilian national jersey (for football) dead at 83: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-46243922 He did so at the age of 18. And he also was a lifelong fan of Uruguay.

Wonderful, a new person we can all love to hate. (Edit: Of course, hate is a bit much. More some kind of grudging respect. Like SriSriSri )

Anybody slightly bored and morbidly interested in the abyss of perversion might want to read this.

After back surgery, Minnesota governor Mark Dayton has been hospitalized for a whole month now: https://www.kaaltv.com/news/rochester-minnesota-governor-mark-dayton-hospitalized-back-surgery-mayo-clinic-latest/5146362/ Physical therapy apparently. But he was also diagnosed with prostate cancer last year, among other health issues. Edit: A more detailed search mentions "lung damage", hmm... https://www.valleynewslive.com/content/news/Gov-Dayton-remains-hospitalized-for-lung-damage-500679912.html

Yeah I thought it could well be somewhere between Guinea and Ghana. -
Peter Angelos, 89, owner of the Baltimore Orioles, apparently in failing health, as there is a succession shuffle right now. All links are blocked for me though.

More info about that almost-dead episode: https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/3495270/rangers-hero-fernando-ricksen-almost-died-blunder-scottish-hospital/ He was lying flat for two hours which can kill him - because usually, his lungs are being emptied three times a day...
