Neat. If both him and Gilbert survive, I can affort a couple of misses.

At least, I want to improve on my 7th place last year. That Ouanounou obit would seal it. We both have deadsox ahead now. Still, this year too much depends on one person - and her will to live.

What do you think about the Shalom Ouanounou obit?

I hope that Sinead O'Connor also finds out that she's transgender, so that they can get together.. Makes me wonder what she is doing right now... ah yes, she changed her name to "Magda Davitt": https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/8259231/sinead-oconnor-magda-davitt-announces-new-us-concert-dates

About the subtitle: Shouldn't it be something like "tough enough?" or "not so tough now"?

Herman Wouk recently bought a new house in a gated community... Link is gated behind European copyright law.

Gardner Dozois is probably not famous enough... but it's interesting what one can find.

It should be easy to find out.... I mean one of the greatest living writers... I suspect there's a Philipp Roth connection, so it's an American. Tony Morrison? Cormac McCarthy? Don DeLillo? I would guess it's one of these three. One of the wackier ideas: JK Rowling (but she tweets)

Well, now I found out that the father of Salman Rushdie's daughter-in-law has cancer... unfamous person though.

Last month it was decided that life support of Vincent Lambert, DDT's pick from last year (this year P@F deathlist), should be turned off. But then a doctor prevented that: https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/vincent-lambert-victory

Who will be the Last Surviving Person who Walked on the Moon?

Having a closer look, I really can't decide.... I voted for Harrison Schmitt. -
Joe Redner, "strip club king" of Tampa, Florida, has lung cancer: https://www.bizjournals.com/tampabay/news/2018/05/19/tampa-strip-club-king-redners-battle-for-homegrown.html Why might he be interesting? 1. He is in a legal fight because he wants to grow marijuana to aid his treatment 2. Wikipedia calls him "the father of the nude lap dance" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Redner

Warren Buffett's sister Doris has advanced Alzheimer's. I can't link because I'm European.

Former CEO of Yahoo Terry Semel has Alzheimer's: https://theblast.com/terry-semel-alzheimers-conservatorship/ His son is asking for conservatorship because Semel's wife has shipped him to the Motion Picture Television Fund House (you know, with Helen Reddy and the rest). His son describes it as "a retirement / nursing home intended for low income entertainment members".

Nah, it's not a last minute death. Still almost a week left and a lot of time to counter with a hit on his own team.

I'm reading an interview with 70-year old Synth/ambient pioneer Klaus Schulze and he says that in recent years, producing albums has become more difficult because of health problems: http://www.spiegel.de/kultur/musik/klaus-schulze-der-elektro-pionier-ueber-sein-album-silhouettes-a-1209048.html (german)

Really tough to choose one in May. I think both David Goodall and John Bain were seminal deaths in deadpooling history. The former for the announcement of his euthanasia and the straight execution of it, and the latter as the first gamer / internet professional to receive obituaries almost universally. You could also make cases for Tom Wolfe and Philipp Roth.

I went with the two lists down in there (12 people walked on the moon, 12 more flew to the moon): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Apollo_astronauts I guess they left those out because they "only" were in space, but not on or over the moon.
