Yes, I do. I'm kind of pro-Ding, simply because he was in such a crisis that him winning again would be quite funny. And I believe that Ding would have been a clear loser against Caruana or Nakamura, but Gukesh is too young. They equalize each other, and if that goes on Ding easily wins in the tie-breaks.

The Assad government might be coming to an end after the fall of Homs: https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cwy8xzxe0w7t Iran wants to send missiles. Apparently, the Russian support isn't strong enough. In a way, on a very small scale, this is like a 3rd world war, but the West has refused to fight it. The Russian forces can't attack Ukraine and defend Syria at the same time. For some reason, Russia has decided to always take the opposite stance of the USA and the West. So there's this Russia/Iran alliance in Syria and Palestine. North Korea supports Russia in Ukraine. The way to beat Russia would have been to spread their forces thin. Russia decided to do this escalation, and the West didn't want to accept that this is a hybrid war. I have been thinking about this article that says that for the USA Ukraine is not a game war, but just a crisis to be managed: https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cwy8xzxe0w7t Anyway.... I've wondered if the Biden government would manage some last minute action, and it's interesting that the possible fall of Syria happens at this time. But then maybe the rebels knew that they had to act fast, because once Trump is in office, Russia can divert forces away from Ukraine, unless Europe starts supporting Ukraine more.

It's also the highest I've been for a while, a different kind of height. I think this might be one of my worst results ever! But you can see at the beginning of this thread that I was very confident that stage IV cancer had become more manageable, so that I didn't expect Toby Keith, Dario G., Shannen Doherty and Janey Godley to die... turns out...cancer still kills.

Australian rugby player Peter Langmack dies at 73 because of, of course, dementia: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/nrl/article-14159541/Record-setting-former-Panthers-Eels-rugby-league-star-Peter-Langmack-died.html I think I even had him in my longlist, next to 100s of other dementia sportspeople.

I'm going through Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's lively instagram page. Apparently, he also has irregular heartbeat / atrial fibrillation: https://www.instagram.com/p/C_laTK7vkuA/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Or it's just drug sponsoring! Anyway, so he has prostate cancer, chronic leukemia, hip replacement surgery and irregular heartbeat. And he couldn't attend AC Green's receiving a presidential lifetime achievmeent award because of health issues: https://www.instagram.com/p/DCj797zyaVt/ -

The South Korean president has declared martial law, so the military has suspended all parliamentary activity - where, surprise, the opposition to the president had the majority: https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2024/dec/03/south-korea-declares-emergency-martial-law-yoon-suk-yeol-north-korea-latest-updates The president implies that the opposition consists of pro-North Korean forces. -

I agree that his looks don't seem to show that it's working. He'll say that the medical tests show something different. -
Danny Pintauro, child star of Who's the Boss, mostly mentioned on here in the HIV thread, has been hospitalised after a scooter accident: https://edition.cnn.com/2024/12/02/entertainment/danny-pintauro-hospitalized/index.html He then developed an infection in his blood stream because of a tear in his stomach...

Art Cashin, veteran Wall Street trader, dead at 83: https://www.cnbc.com/2024/12/02/art-cashin-new-york-stock-exchange-fixture-for-decades-dies-at-age-83.html Hope he cashed in all his options before. Somewhat famous but no Wikipedia page (so far), so I think he can go in this thread.

If he's deathlist worthy, can anybody please make a thread so we can post about this news one more time?

Have to admit I was 50:50 between my pick and Cpt. Hemlock's - if available, of course. A change of plans coincidentally made me available at the right time. What speed!

Scottish comedienne who seems fairly prominent in certain circles. She had ovarian cancer, beat it, but then it came back. It's stage 3 and she says that it can be treated but not cured. So it's now being called "terminal". Like Jonnie Irwin, she seems fairly open about it all. Today's update is, "she wants to go out with a bang": https://nz.news.yahoo.com/janey-godley-terminal-125229998.html

Okay, kill this thread if it's redundant, but I think Australian Daily Soap "Home and Away" is a total death trap, possibly because of cheap sets full of toxic plastic sets. Here's the proof: In 2001: Megan Connolly - drug overdose at 27. In 2006: Belinda Emmett dead of cancer at 32 - press link is obsolete, but it's noted on the forum. Right now: Johnny Ruffo, diagnosed with cancer at 29, now 32. In 2014: Tessa James has Hodgkin's lymphoma at 23, but survives. In 2016: Russell Kiefel, collapsed on stage and died shortly after. At age 65. In 2017: Jessica Falkholt, in a deadly car crash at 29 (she was dizzy because of the toxic fumes). In 2018: Catherine Godbold dead at 43 of cancer. In 2018: Cornelia Frances dead at 77 of bladder cancer. Also in 2018: Olivia Deeble, hospitalized with a brain swelling at 18. In 2019: Annalise Braakensiek, "found dead", in her home at 46. In 2019: Ben Unwin, "found dead" at 41. In 2019: Darius Perkins, dead of cancer at 54. In 2019: Joel McIlroy charged with assault, blames it on his Huntington's disease. In 2020: Dee Thomas has cancer at 54. In 2020: Mick Innes dead of lung disease at 67. And of course, Heath Ledger's suicide in 2008 because the cancerous fumes gave him depression. Also, here is a list, which is incomplete: https://home-and-away-soap-opera.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Home_And_Away_actors_who_have_died. Most of those actors/actresses get QOs, and it seems there are about 2 early deaths per year, so maybe it's worth paying more attention to this show.

What does Soros actually still do? There's far more action on the Murdoch side just going through Google news.

Oh I'm still in the USA for this one, and might be on a car ride that day. Might be one I sadly have to sit out, but I'll enter if I get internet access and there's still a free slot. Edit: I forgot that this means that I wouldn't attempt to defend my title - damn, but I can't change it.
