Brave move not to headline with Charles Manson or Malcolm Young. And I thought the Manson obit was refreshingly demystifying.

Yes, sorry, that turned out to be another fantasy story. Apparently he has an obsession with Time magazine and has a couple of fake Donald Trump Time front covers hanging at Mar-a-Lago.

My guess for number 1 is John McCain.

Form guide #18 Diana Athill Vote for Diana Athill, the lively, matter-of-factly literature critic and memoirist. OBE, turning 100 next month, and living in a care home for a while. As MPFC said, she might be an active member of this forum, if she knew about it. Like Clive James, her personality always shines through her articles, but her literary output is slowly expiring.

She's on my longlist. I knew she was bad a couple of years ago. But then she got better and attended conventions.

Don't forget, Captain Chorizo lost last year by the six weeks Seijun Suzuki died too late. Well, and the Sadhana Shivdasani thing.... My prediction, in some other thread, was Death Impends. But we'd have to start seeing Rayya Elias bedridden to make that a possibility, I think.

Ah yes, Big Ang! Thank you, I had the same idea, but forgot about her name. Otherwise I might have posted just the same. -

"Well, I guess it's my turn now!"

As I suspected a while ago, my main team is now the highest-scoring team of the 2nd half of the year (unless I'm terribly wrong). It made 50pts in that time. Spade is 2nd, by the way, with 45pts. Does that mean anything? I guess not.

Hm, Karle would have been a rare Independent-only QO. Let's see if Hornig gets that Guardian obit I predicted. -

Now he's dead. Daily Mail obit already around. Can't link right now.
-
If I had seen THAT contrast, I would have picked him, too. I just didn't know, when I saw the top picture, if he had always been slim. Mental note: Next tiem someone posts a supposedly harrowing picture, check the history.

Interesting idea. Definitely obitable. As a one-hit wonder I think it's a borderline case. But the committee also chose other one-hit wonders like Harper Lee. Funny how neither "Hal's" career nor that of "Dave" (also still alive at 81) went much further than 2001.
