gcreptile replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Another vote for DI and Paul Bearer. Thread of the year, yes, Javier Perez De Cuellar Post of the year - I can't narrow it down. Poster of the year - Thatcher (basically my vote for "best newcomer", which isn't a category here) News story of the year - I don't know, the Trump adminisration as one big trip into bizarro world Worst Poster - Every poster is a good poster! Should post more - Book Should post less - Those who give away names I was really proud to find. Most missed - rockhopperpenguin, even though he didn't like me (because of his Deathlist Cup defeat) least missed - none wanker - me most respected DL member - Spade - how does he do it? random nomination - MPFC, I like his way with words. -

Foreign Personalities, From Stage, Screen, Politics And Life

Yes, I saw how he got better. Very, very unusual, especially with his history of alcoholism. I also think that it'll be back. -
Congratulations, RA! Well-deserved!

Bobby Zarin on course to become the Monty Brinson of 2018, now that his cancer has supposedly taken a turn for the worse, again: http://radaronline.com/celebrity-news/jill-zarin-husband-bobby-zarin-cancer-hospital-sick/ But it's Radar Online, the poor man's National Enquirer... and her instagram page does not reflect the article, so beware...

I have a feeling that the few unique possibilities of mine that will remain, will be shared with DDT - just like when we both picked Gary Haggarty and Ronald Mulkearns. Remigino was in my B-Team roster, and will stay there until he DIES.

"They give me 50:50 chances": http://people.com/tv/beth-chapman-5050-chance-cancer-dog-the-bounty-hunter-special/ Hmm, stage 2 throat cancer usually isn't that deadly... -
Yes, I wanted to add him to my longlist only to find out that he was already on it. Then I went, 'Oh, that guy'. Probably even Death List worthy - a bit like Robert Pirsig. Edit: Eh, definitely Death List worthy, more so than Robert Pirsig.

Thomas Keneally (Booker prize winner) with a fairly morbid interview: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/nov/11/thomas-keneally-death-is-not-the-fly-in-the-cosmic-ointment-it-is-the-cosmic-ointment Far down there he also mentions his diagnosis of oesophageal cancer two years ago.

Yes. They're getting ready to depose Grace who is said to be responsible for the purge. Is Mugabe's death coming up quickly?

Yes, it's a European thing. Every active European football player at the top level will obit everywhere. In their native countries even the ones at the 2nd or 3rd level will obit. And Les Mutrie. Bonus points for being young and having cancer. Franz Beckenbauer had the 2nd heart surgery this year last weekend, by the way. This time, it was a routine procedure. Also, I'm currently thinking about the Les Mutrie of 2018. They say, history doesn't repeat itself but it rhymes.

Charlie Sheen might not be the worst pick with the abuse stories. Bynes is also doing much worse than Lohan.

Hmm, apparently not in hospice, but was in the US for chemo. Some say pancreatic cancer, but it's not confirmed....

So How's Your 2018 Shortlist Looking?
gcreptile replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
My shortlist is too long... about 100 names for 60 slots. I'm moving towards increasing the number of hits, instead of trying to maximize point average... so, probably goodbye to the Mao Kobayashi of 2018. -
Donald Trump dares Duterte to sing on stage, he does it: http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-asia-41962815/president-duterte-sings-duet-on-trump-s-request A match made in heaven (or hell)?

Eventually both ;). But I think we decided that next year, it's his turn. However... he is much more stable than Monty was at this point in 2016.

I think my brain works too much with analogies. I see Devin Lima as the Greg Gilbert of 2018, Bobby Zarin as the Monty Brinson of 2018, and now Rose West as the Catherine Nevin of 2018.
