They''re saying that Taylor Swift's tour has stimulated the economy: https://time.com/6307420/taylor-swift-eras-tour-money-economy/ Maybe a well-timed state funeral for Jimmy Carter could do the same? It might be the last trick Joe Biden has up his sleeve.

C-Team DDP pick and AltObits pick for me. Very neat, as well, picked after a one-tweet mention on twitter.

He feared he had glioblastoma, but it's a less aggressive tumour, still incurable though: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-67925522

Just yesterday, they said that Charles heard of it while looking for mushrooms: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/royal-family/news/king-charles-queen-death-balmoral-mushrooms-b2477942.html They didn't expect it to happen that quickly. I think her heart simply stopped beating. But she probably was very weak already. I guess she was "sedated" and "resting comfortably", but there was no change in her condition for hours, so they thought they could risk to go away.

Malaysian politician Jamal Yunos hospitalised again for lung cancer - "admitting defeat": https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2024/01/13/jamal-yunos-hospitalised-again-for-lung-cancer/ Apart from that he's probably dying a painful death by lung cancer suffocation, I've made quite a big bet on him, and that one of the malaysian newspapers translates into a Yahoo obit. But also, Deathrace, Alt Obits, Hartlepool etc....

Well done, I, and everyone else completely forgot about him, even though he was obviously the clock.

My Decembre was pretty bad, indeed. But then, winning this as well would have been a little much... Congrats Dying Probably!

Bruce Wilkoff QO: https://www.dicardiology.com/content/memoriam-bruce-wilkoff-md-fhrs But oh, if only I had picked my own suggestions Roy Battersby and Franz Beckenbauer. My deathrace decisions are always off by one.

Edit: wrong thread...

I .. think... they allow picks if they think that these people would obit even if they didn't have cancer at 50, but instead died of old age at 90. Still, I didn't expect all of my picks to come through. Irish cook Joe Shannon, while very prominent, doesn't have a wikipedia page. And I doubt he'd obit in 30 years long after his TV appearances. So in some cases, they really keep you guessing.

Alierta is possibly dead now: https://www.elconfidencial.com/empresas/2024-01-10/cesar-alierta-expresidente-telefonica-hospitalizado-zaragoza_3808402/ Article is 5 min old. -
Thanks all! I was very proud of the Forrest/Paul two-fer. And while Rolf Harris was the "must have", Ted Kaczynski might have been the more important differential. Thank you, Death Impends for your great hosting!

I thought so. Prostate surgery can make you impotent. That might be too embarassing for a military man.

I imagine him a bit like this:

Katrina Leeder, flight hostess who "starred" on the show Airline has incurable cancer: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12942487/Airline-star-Katrina-Leeder-engaged-cancer.html Edit: Actually, her partner has incurable cancer, she "only" has her 8th treatment for thyroid cancer.

"Remarkable" Somerset councillor Dean Ruddle has died unexpectedly at 59: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-somerset-67922266 Looks like the BBC said "Fuck it", and now writes about every dead councillor. What's next, maybe they'll write about some no name Newcastle councillor with cancer or something.

Dirty secret: India is not really covered by Yahoo. So picking an Indian here is very risky. Oommen Chandy and Jayanta Mahapatra were two QO misses last year. Edit: Actually, Chandy was unpicked. He didn't get the QOs for the Death By Numbers, though.

Alright, notable surgeon and researcher Bruce Wilkoff has died on the 7th: https://obits.cleveland.com/us/obituaries/cleveland/name/bruce-wilkoff-obituary?id=54045735 I assume the legacy obit doesn't count. But I'll be on the watch now.

So, Günther Netzer, Paul Breitner and Sepp Maier have appeared so far. They have aged since I last saw them, Breitner a little more than Netzer, but nothing to worry about. I think Netzer might be the Geoff Hurst of 1974. Funnily, Wolfgang Schäuble appears as a talking head. He looks quite sick, and of course, has died since then. There's also Matthias Sammer who looks quite unhealthy to me. Arie Haas represents the Dutch. He's looking okay in his beach property.
