Hmm, diabetes and a blocked artery. Bad blood circulation in general. Did he smoke a lot? Heart surgery alone won't fix it.

Al-Baghdadi's hide-out surrendered, though it probably means he isn't there: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jun/04/iraqi-forces-retake-key-town-of-baaj-from-isis -
Damnit, I just realised that the total non-obitability of Ben Suisala kills my chances in another deadpool. The chain of Suisala-Nevin-King Michael was well chosen, I thought.

Bernadette Chirac as well. Giscard D'Estaing if he wasn't mentioned yet (and Delors). And the ancient politicians I listed in the political frailty thread.

Well, you already know that she was not the best pick, so you got what you deserved ;). Though I guess she's now at the point where an infection could take her out any day. But if things run naturally, she might see July...might..

I was happy that nobody picked a random cancer mum "in her final days" or some heavily injured random person à la Paul Briggs - with the exception of Connie Johnson who is also family/fringe and a very prominent fundraiser. But foregoing the low-hanging fruits means that we have to wait a little longer. Spade's new pick is also great. Sadly, I only read about her on the first of June. I would have picked her if I had known of her before - which was possible! Edit: My feeling is that Christie is already dead and we'll hear about it post-weekend.

Well to be fair, their choice of weapons has kept up with technological progress. From horses and swords to planes and machine guns.

Bad joke, but the Deathlist headline of her death is going to be "Sandy Dee-ceased", isnt it?

Is there early voting in the UK? If not, the latest swing could be "really" dangerous for May. It's moving towards a tie. -

People with dementia get angry because they KNOW what they used to know but forgot it. Apparently, he has already declined more, and is now back at child or even baby stage.

Ha! Daily Mail coverage and the first sentence mentions Newton-John: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-4564302/Guitarist-Stuart-Fraser-reveals-lung-cancer-battle.html The Ross Hannaford of 2018? Edit: Not the first sentence, the headline

I was looking forward to snatching a unique hit with Manu Dibango at some point. But yes, he's pretty healthy.

Poor guy. He fought it as far as his good physique and cheerful temper allowed. I hope he gained a couple of pleasant days because death will be a relief.

Weird, I also assumed that the Hewlett rule was about those "premature" deaths. But actually reading the rule, it sounds differently. Maybe someone of us travelled back in time and changed it. Probably the one with the most benefit. Which we will know soon. Also something to argue about, does the pick need to be alive before June in local time or PST? Edit: Unnecessary for this case, as Torr died in Scotland. I previously thought she died in Canada.

He'll follow her within days.

I wouldn't call him senile, but he sounds very weak, and has aged dramatically in this video from 3 weeks ago:

Australian guitarist Stuart Fraser has lung cancer: http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/music/australian-guitarist-stuart-fraser-is-fighting-lung-cancer/news-story/e50139ee8122f2455ca0b83413c08008 He played in Noiseworks and the John Farnham band. But more alluring is his connection to Olivia Newton-John. Is that enough for the Guardian or Daily Mail Australia?

Interesting, nobody picked Hanning.

These teams are worthy of a final. Fun competition. Though I also have to admit that the amount of necessary research can be pretty high. The final, especially the 5 unique picks each, are a competition between deep, solitary research (DI) and picking the best of the already known names (Deadsox).
-
I remember that people were starving for more deadpooling mid-last year. 12 months later, the number of competitions has increased massively and I gave up trying to enter every one. I don't like to enter with a half-baked team anyway and there's only so much time to spend on research anyway.

Ah, you remember, sadly, so do I! I knew I kept Joachim Kaiser but I wasn't sure about Dorst. A german specialty pick, whom I chose because he looked really bad at some retrospective in late 2015.
