The Rolling Probabilistic Ddp Scoreboard
gcreptile replied to gcreptile's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I am sorry, but it has to be done. Update for the non-obits of Ben Suisala and Sasha Lakovic. Also an invisible update for Sally Major and Kath Osmond. Shameless was at around 137pts but with the Suisala non-obit, it's now down to 133,77pts. It would probably be justified to lower that score even more because the obitability of cancer celebrities keeps declining with time, but I went down to 30% for all of them who don't blog and don't fundraise for others - and I'll leave it at that. 1. David Quantick's Showbiz Pals (171,64) (---) 2. Golden Slumbers (171,13) (---) 3. To Kill a Gabor Sister (169,73) (---) 4. Thomas Jefferson Survives (160,93) (---) 5. Poochie Died on the Way back to his Home Planet (159,95) (---) 6. The Love Boat (157,28) (---) 7. Still Life (156,77) (---) 8. Deceased Hose (153,73) (---) 9. Dead Ends (153,0275) (apparently a typing error in the last update) (---) 10. The Living End (151,79) (---) 11. New Years and Drinks All Night (151,76) (---) 12. drollercoaster (151,54) (---) 13. Heading Nowhere (151,22) (---) 14. Drunkasaskunk (146,71) (+1) 15. I will not die, it's the world that will end! (146,23) (+2) 16. Buckets of Blood (145,90) (+2) 17. I'm sorry for your trouble (144,87) (+3) 18. Day in the Death (144,37) (-4) 19. This Mortal Coil (140,862) (-3) 20. Pan Breed (138,12) (-1) I have to apologize to the person behind This Mortal Coil because I accidentally assigned the points of Steve Hewlett to his pick of Dilip Kumar. So I had calculated his score a little too high. But otherwise, this was a fairly quiet period. I bet Shameless wouldn't have received as much attention lately if one of the big names had died. It's likely, especially with these non-obits, that there are still hidden teams who could enter the Top 20, but whose score I have not yet calculated. I also have an eye on Dead as a Doornail, Cancel My Appointments, Cancerous Hatred, DDP Tofoa, Shaun of the Dead 69, Carkers Convention, Valar Morghulis and Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be a badly-drawn boy. Edit: I've calculated the score of Crossing the Styx and the team is at 14th place. I'll include it with the next update. -
Woops - I apologize, yesterday, my post quality was exceptionally low, see also the Bruce Springsteen thread.

Cat was gone for about half a year last year, or so I remember. I already thought he was gone back then. However, in my experience, unless someone actually dies, you're never really gone on the Internet. -
In terms of deadpooling, (probably) a big bucket of nothing. I guess he had a fall or something like that. I've been amazed how he manages to keep standing at long public events. Every other man of his age at least uses a cane. Now he probably had weak legs one evening and thinks that it all goes downhill from there.

That's a bit of an inside joke. But true, he probably isn't - though (part of) his fanbase tried to invent some kind of romance with bandmate Harry Styles. Regarding Phil Oakey, I just read his Wikipedia article (linked to from "People from Yorkshire") and didn't find any reference to a woman, but lots about his fashion style. Besides, someone from The Human League HAS to be gay.

German painter A R Penck dies after a lengthy illness at 77: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory/german-painter-ar-penck-dies-77-47186950 Apparently a bigger name in art circles, but I don't know him.

John Le Carré is about to make a rare appearance because his new novel will feature a classic character of his. Maybe Le Carré's work is about to come full circle? https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/may/03/john-le-carre-rare-public-appearance-discuss-new-novel-george-smiley He strikes me as a typical Deathlist pick, one who enters the list in his mid-to-late 80s and then stays on for 5-10 years to suddenly die without any news in between.

Daily Mail article from last month with everything you need to know about the two women in the recent life of Sir Clive Sinclair and how he battled life-threatening illnesses last year and is now not really in control of his own life: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4394324/How-Sir-Clive-Sinclair-s-wife-pole-axed.html -
The team that picked him, Lidders Late Lamentables, I like it quite a bit. Astronauts, BBC radio guys, frail old people.

I like this thought very much.

BBC journalist Jonathan Ali has been off work for a year because of cancer of the soft tissue: https://www.prolificnorth.co.uk/2017/05/bbc-journalist-reports-live-from-fire-at-hospital-where-he-is-being-treated-for-cancer/ However, the treatment is almost over and apparently he's doing better. Might only be a local obit, anyway.

Simon Ricketts update outside of his blog: http://www.stalbansreview.co.uk/watford/15259782.Former_journalist_with_terminal_cancer_lends_support_to_awareness_week/ Still looks ok, but basically says he is fucked. A big candidate for a crucial December hit, which we might be having a couple of, this year.

MMDP Form Guide #13 Pete Sampras Really just a random celebrity if your deadpool requires a couple of names but you think that you already fielded a winning candidate. He probably doesn't have any life-threatening illness - OR DOES HE?

I... what's the term.... flunked out of University once myself. I couldn't deal with the freedom. I tried it again and succeeded, mostly because the environment was totally different. But as a consequence, I began my professional life 5 years too late, and now work at a place where my masters degree isn't really needed (but the bachelor's is). University is not always the perfect solution. I might have pursued a different course and done better, I don't know... -
Ah, the rule is "The age of the celeb at the moment of passing must also be established to calculate points". So Mbah Ghoto may not qualify? I'm thinking of fielding a Down Under theme team for 2018, if I get the possibility.
-
Oh, they're timing the release to coincide with his death.
-
It's not going to win, lol... Even if Suisala obits, it's only at 20th place in my rolling scoreboard. I already have two non-obits and some relatively bad picks (Cheyann Clark, Leanne Hock, Gemma Nuttall, Laura Saull). It would take Bracknell, Christie and Downie surviving PLUS Juan Pedro Franco dying and Emma Houlston obiting to give Shameless the victory.

Really??? Didn't DDT have some 70+ pts last year? But I'm not sure at all. Edit: Ah, "one of the", not: "the". Yes, true. It's third place or something like that.
