Caroline Aherne does some voice work for an ad: http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/cancer-survivor-caroline-aherne-fronts-7798519 I actually didn't know that she has or had all kinds of cancer. She will also speak at the Macmillan Cancer Foundation (?) tomorrow.

    Sumner Redstone

All my posts on him of the past couple of months should be put in here, in my opinion. Now Sumner Redstone's granddaughter joins the court case that has to rule on his mental and physical abilties: http://deadline.com/2016/04/sumner-redstone-health-care-lawsuit-keryn-redstone-statement-1201740506/ The twist is that she joins the side of Manuela Herzer, Sumner Redstone's previous physician who wants to be reinstated as his caretaker. That means she does not side with Redstone's daughter Shari and the Viacom company. The article explains that Shari wanted Redstone to die at home in 2014, but Sumner "interjected: I don't want to die!" which Shari then ignored and repeated "He wants to die at home. Don't call the doctors." She also tried to push for "no resuscitation orders" which Sumner rejected.

    Elton John

Why, is he ill? I think it's because he's rumoured to have cheated on Elton. Heh, sorry, I didn't get the irony.

Magic Johnson, And Other Basketball Players

His death was mentioned in another thread, but I'll use this one to note that his death has gotten Guardian and Mail coverage. Not a DDP pick, but him and Andrew Smith both getting QOs could be a useful reference point the next time a risky-obit basketballer falls ill. Ha! I just made the same point in Shaun's Deadpool thread.

    Shaun`s Death By Numbers 2016I

I get points for Dwayne "Pearl" Washington: http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/apr/20/dwayne-pearl-washington-syracuse-dies-52-cancer The obit came easily. But I was too unsure to choose him for the DDP. Another mistake. The Guardian has developed a preference for US basketball, see also: Andrew Smith.

    Helmut Kohl

Helmut Kohl received a visit by Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban today: http://www.spiegel.de/politik/deutschland/helmut-kohl-und-viktor-orban-meiden-harte-kritik-an-angela-merkel-a-1088037.html(german link) He looks a bit better than before, but is still wheelchair-bound.

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

Twitter tells me that Jordan Lotter already died on April 4th, so most likely one for the List of the Lost. Note to self: While the Daily Mail covers people who are getting "killed" by the NHS, they do not cover people who go on to receive private health-care instead, but still die.

    Prince

Interesting, though I also put rapper OG Maco on my Shaun's Deadpool team because the site said he had AIDS. But then, Prince being a Jehova's Witness also makes me believe that he could suffer an early death.

Only Famous For Being Ill And Dying

A Shameless pick. Will there be an obit tomorrow? I would think so, because the Daily Mail was ON THE CASE, but if not, the prospects of Shameless are almost at an end, I would say.

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

Link isn't working afaik. No news reports of her death? Unfortunately not. http://www.ok-trauer.de/file_tmp/image_tmp/8/ea9739f7-9385-4105-9601-90b85efc974a.jpg She is now dead for about 10 days... Hmm, I didn't know her. Did any other german member know her?

    Prince

Hmm, dunno - diet has been rumoured to be a disaster for years and eating disorders might explain his ability to stay so thin. But I could see him getting old and highly cranky like Miles Davis Though Davis also got only 65 years old, which, admittedly, is not bad for a classic Jazz giant. And Davis was a wreck in the mid 70s. I bet Roger Waters will get really old and REALLY cranky.

    Read Any Good Books Lately?

If you want a real classic, try; The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling, by Henry Fielding. Thanks, I might actually try it some day. As a non-native english speaker, my reading of english classics barely touches the surface. Shakespeare, yes, Dickens, the Bronte sisters, Jane Austen and Ernest Hemingway and the like, but not much beyond, as of now.

    Prince

Yes, I think he won't get old. Either a sex accident, or drugs or whatever... a bit like Michael Jackson.

    Read Any Good Books Lately?

I finally finished Moby Dick after 2 months of reading a couple of pages during each subway ride to and from work. It was beautifully written, but there was a bit too much filler about the biology of whales, the history of whale hunting, how to extract oil out of a whale, and so on... In the end, the book wasn't quite what I expected, because the meat of the story is not that much. Now I'm rushing through Robinson Crusoe. I thought it was fitting to read another maritime classic.
