    Henry Kissinger

I was losing myself in a fantasy, Rosalynn Carter standing at the gates of heaven, waiting for Jimmy, but out of the fog emerges a shadowy figure with german accent "Vell hello there, young lady!" But of course, Kissinger will not go up there.

With Frances Sternhagen dead and surely obiting within the hour, we have tied the DDP hit record. Who'll be the record-breaker?

His? Edit: I admit, slightly too catty, I forgot about the private funeral.

I always pick BBC when it's available. Some big names take their time for a better-than-yahoo obit though.

    Minimalists (and other classical composers/musicians)

Catherine Christer Hennix, pioneering electronic musician, in the style that would today be called Minimalism, has died at 75: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/nov/29/catherine-christer-hennix-obituary I have been listening to some of it. Pioneering work, but obviously lacking for today's ears.

    The Generation Game

Sticky Vicky is a hit for me here (Christy Dignam was, too). I was leading this game for the longest time, but I wonder if that's still the case. I've got two names left in the Silent Generation, Owen Glenn and Mahathir Mohamed. The latter was a big mistake I guess. But in the end, it will all come down to the Boomer Generation anyway.

David Smith, the paralympian rower and cyclist, occasionally pops up here and there because of his spinal cancer. He just had another surgery in his neck: https://www.strathspey-herald.co.uk/news/another-war-wound-for-aviemores-heroic-cancer-battler-smith-334158/ It doesn't have to be a new tumor growth, but could also be pain management because of already done surgeries. It's unclear.

    Inverse Dead Pool 2023

That's curious! Fantastic update, as always. Have to admit, I did not expect this year to be one where some tactical choices would make the difference, i.e. picking people you actually expect to die in some lower slots, so that you can avoid picking some 50:50 picks. We haven't had 0-pointers in quite some time. Edit: actually, never!

    Death By Numbers 2023

A little update during this well-deserved November break. The big hit this update was Johnny Ruffo, the actor/singer from Australia. The curse of Home and Away strikes once more. He's one of the biggest hits this year, lots of players score and he's one of the youngest hits in the game. Some people, including me, score joker points. We've had two DeathList hits that also score here, Joss Ackland and Rosalynn Carter. Well done to the pickers. Suzanne Somers was a unique hit for etib80, congratulations! I have to admit, neither of her big shows ring any bell with me. Then, as mentioned above, Joan Jara gives Cpt Hemlock another unique hit. The yahoo obit has since been followed by other QOs. She was an artist-y figure, acting/dancing, turned political activist/wife of chilean labor hero Victor Jara. This already seems to be it. Not much in almost a whole month. The scoreboard shows me attacking the top with just 4 pts behind. But is there still a unique pick for me left in the game, or is this minor difference going to remain? In other news, expect the new thread soon. Rank Team Score 1 Banana 1161 2 gcreptile 1157 3 JoeyRuss 1059 4 RadGuy 1022 5 Cpt. Hospitalised!

Lindsey Graham once said that conservatives don't create enough angry, white men to stay competetive politically. I have a feeling that some people just talk about this to make some white men angry.
