The heir to the throne of China, Jin Youzhi, is dead at 96: http://www.cankaoxiaoxi.com/roll/roll10/2015/0410/738039.shtml(obit in chinese) His best claim to fame is being the half-brother of the Last Emperor of China, immortalized in the epic movie whose soundtrack I listened to just yesterday. I know somebody also picked him in the DDP, so a better obit is needed. Edit: Indeed, it would be a unique hit for the "not yet gone, but still forgotten" theme team, which actually supports its name by having 19 unique picks. Editedit: Sorry, YoungWillz.

My nr.1 pick Jin Youzhi, brother of the last emperor of China is dead, according to wikipedia. The obituary in chinese is this one: http://www.cankaoxiaoxi.com/roll/roll10/2015/0410/738039.shtml I have no idea if that paper is "a respected, reliable source of international news", but I'll keep an eye out for further obits. Edit: The newspaper is at least respected and reliable. It's the daily newspaper with the highest circulation in mainland China: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reference_News Editedit: If one uses google news with the mandarin writing of Jin Youzhi (which is 溥任 and means Puren, his old dynastic name) one finds tons of chinese newspapers mentioning his death, but it seems that the Western world so far hasn't taken notice or interest. https://www.google.de/search?q=%E6%BA%A5%E4%BB%BB&biw=1680&bih=963&site=webhp&source=univ&tbm=nws&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=5iEoVamXGobtaomKgdgG&ved=0CC8QsQQ Editeditedit: Now the Russian News Agency Itar-TASS mentions it as well: http://tass.ru/en/world/788581

That was quick. Personally, I'd prohibit the choice of people famous for being terminally ill, Kate Granger is another candidate. But then these are the rules, and the Daily Mail pretty much ensures that these people get obits as long as they were "uplifting" or "fighting bravely" and the like... Crazycarl is now falling behind, he's got some low-hanging fruits still in there, but also some weaker picks, in my opinion. DQSP would be on top if it wasn't for Ion Trewin. TJS has the more mainstream picks left while DQSP has the more interesting ones. Death Impends now needs his joker (Martin Crowe), and in this case he'll be almost impossible to beat.

Here's an interesting claim to fame: Britain's oldest paedophile (as far as we know) becomes Britain's oldest prisoner: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3033494/Britain-s-oldest-paedophile-country-s-senior-prisoner-jailed-age-96-sexually-assaulting-girls-early-1950s.html He was sentenced to 18 months. His age was a concern, too, since a younger man would have received seven to nine years.

The science behind Taylor Swift's call for more cancer screenings: http://www.vox.com/2015/4/9/8377909/taylor-swift-cancer It highlights the problem of "overdiagnosis": cancer that appears more deadly than it is.

Last week, he decided that the book he published at his 98th birthday won't be the last: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/kirk-douglas/a-letter-and-a-challenge-to-huffpost-readers_b_6995634.html The new book is meant to be created through an exchange with his readers. He wants them to write real letters, not emails, to him.

Now attention focuses on Jeralean Talley: http://www.christiantoday.com/article/worlds.oldest.person.jeralean.talley.credits.her.long.life.to.gods.will/51603.htm It does sound like she'll be around for a while though. She still goes to church regularly and cares for her great-great-grandson.

Sitting down for an interview: http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2015/04/08/jake-the-snake-roberts-joins-scott-and-jeremy/ There's no indication that he's in any kind of bad health. He now does something called DDP yoga.

Still a wasted pick on the Deathlist, Henry Kissinger is going to travel to Azerbaijan for a diplomatic conference: http://www.news.az/articles/politics/96912 He also slams Obama's Iran treaty but that was to be expected, I guess... seen below in the Oval Office with 94-year old former Secretary of State George Shultz: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/henry-kissinger-george-schultz-warn-against-barack-obamas-iran-nuclear-deal-1495452

He will publish a new collection of essays in the summer: http://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/apr/10/clive-james-new-essay-collection-this-summer-latest-readings No health-related news though, but it sounds as if he wants to get it all out as long as he still can.

A personal aide to recently deposed Nigerian President Jonathan, Oronto Douglas, has died of cancer: http://pulse.ng/local/goodluck-jonathan-president-mourns-oronto-douglas-id3641242.html Another source I saw yesterday, but can't find anymore describes how the election loss really hurt Douglas and might have hastened his demise à la, the president-elect has already found his first victim... Curiously, another minister of Jonathan's cabinet, the petroleum minister, has just been flown to London for medical reasons, though it is suspected that it's an escape from the planned anti-corruption measures of the new president: http://www.naij.com/418397-alison-madueke-flown-abroad-for-medical-attention.html

Truly, it's the day the music died. Since I can't 'like' a guest's comments I hereby applaud he tremendous post. I guess any twat who picked up an instrument has earned a mention here. Legendary North Bay Rocker mourned by bandmates Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, and Tooth Fairy. SC I know that guy wasn't quite as famous as the penis necklace woman whose death mention you liked, but his death wasn't on wikipedia, so it's a bit of added public knowledge. Sab's death was mourned by Kris Kristofferson though, not quite an unknown local musician. Also, unless you get your habit of complaining about every single post on this forum under control, I will complain about every little mistake you make so that I can hurt you where it hurts you most: I will always have more posts than you.

Again, Sir Creep is not learned on the media of the UK, but goddamit if Pat Summit wouldn't obit no sense in publishing the damned paper. Granted we had this tiff re: Tarkanian a couple months ago and Sir Creep was right, which seemed obvious to him. But she's the greatest NCAA female bb coach ever, what could possibly be the debate?SC The question is whether anyone in Europe really cares that much about college-level female basketball. Yes, NBA is a thing in Europe and you get to watch it live in almost any country, but even WNBA or male college basketball is less interesting for European viewers. So if the matches get basically 0 coverage how would you learn that she was a legend? It's a bit like cricket in the US and continental Europe. Most people there have probably never heard of Sachin Tendulkar, yet he is the single most popular player and #1 sports legend in India. But you can't really appreciate his achievements as an American. You lack the "reference frame" to interpret feats like "the highest number of centuries" when you don't even know how they score in cricket and how many runs are scored by ordinary players. For me, Lauren Hill falls into the "famous for being terminally ill" category. Nowadays, quite a lot of people achieve this kind of fame by "raising awareness", or by blogging about their cancer. Obit-wise these cases are always a bit of a gamble. There's the case of Paul Kalanithi, who died of cancer earlier this year He was a well-regarded neurosurgeon, but only really famous for his cancer that he wrote about to newspapers. It just so happened that his "letter to his daughter" made it to the Guardian after his death: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/mar/16/die-words-daughter-cancer-time-neurosurgeon Since the webpage mentions Paul Kalanithi's death, it fulfils the requirements of the DDP, even though it's not really an obituary. So sometimes these gambles pay off. On the other hand, there are quite a few other people blogging about their diseases and they will hardly find national recognition from a UK newspaper. As far as I know, The Guardian was also the only british newspaper mentioning the death of Paul Kalanithi.
