Looks like Jenny Apple(ford) has died a couple of days ago: https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2023/11/08/jenny-apples-husband-confirms-youtuber-has-died-aged-36-in-heartbreaking-update/ No obit so far, so maybe a blessing in disguise for the people who picked her, or an indication that she really wasn't notable enough as an influencer.

Schwarzenberg is back again in hospital: https://brnodaily.com/2023/11/08/news/former-czech-foreign-minister-and-presidential-candidate-schwarzenberg-hospitalised-in-vienna/ He doesn't know why he's in hospital he says, meanung his doctors are more worried about him than he his himself. Not a good sign, I guess.

Death comes for us all, and considering that our lifetime of roughly 100 years is nothing compared to infinity, basically any pick is as good as anyone else... So, picking a random celebrity.... Advent Avalanche Form Guide #5: Kristen Bell You may know her better as Veronica Mars, the world's sexiest vegetarian of 2006 and 2013 was already born at the gates of hell, i.e. Detroit. No wonder she reported treatment for depression and anxiety in 2016. Her plant-based baby toy brand Hello Bello also filed for bankruptcy in 2020. This year, she finally had enough and started to learn Brazilian jiu-jitsu, so you know that bones will break and backs will snap. Is she going to turn from nerdy love interest #1 into top deadpooling material?

The thread for Barbra Streisand, the award-winning US singer/actress turning 76 next month. She was recently in the news for defending Michael Jackson, along the lines of "whatever he did, it didn't kill those boys": https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-47680378 Also, here's her mansion: No known health issues so far - but kooky enough to warrant discussion.

DDP pick John MacChesney has been dead since 2021: https://www.optica.org/about/newsroom/obituaries/2021/john_b_macchesney_sr/ Nobody seems to have noticed before, not even Wikipedia. He was even picked for the first time in 2022, after his death... -
New photo, this time with Tom Creagh: https://www.irishnews.com/arts/music/2023/11/06/news/shane_macgowan_shares_hospital_photo_with_friend_for_his_birthday-3752040/ The cannula is back. He won't get out of there ever again. Also, it seems Shane has the same kind of level as Jonnie Irwin in terms of "every Instagram post is worth a news article".

Hall of Famer Jim Palmer has had eye cancer / melanoma: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://wjla.com/amp/sports/content/orioles-hall-of-famer-jim-palmer-reveals-cancer-diagnosis-in-reply-to-twitter-troll-mlb-baltimore-johns-hopkins-masn-yankees-skin-cancer-baseball-jim22palmer&ved=2ahUKEwi4jfrdlK-CAxWswAIHHatODsYQyM8BKAB6BAgLEAI&usg=AOvVaw05VrgKzrXeWMzT30ESzrMC Sorry, for the terrible link, but the original is behind a EU paywall. While the cancer seems not that bad, he's had quite the health history: https://www.sportskeeda.com/baseball/baltimore-orioles-icon-jim-palmer-broadcasting-genius-wins-plaudits-commentary-colleague Several bouts with skin cancer, spinal fusion, knee replacement, heart procedures, and Covid in August.

Megachurch pastor and gospel artist Carlton Pearson possibly dead, or at least in "comfort care", after a cancer battle at age 70 (some sources say he died): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlton_Pearson https://www.christianpost.com/news/carlton-pearson-moves-to-comfort-care-as-cancer-endures.html

Jazz drummer Mark Mondesir had stage 4 colon cancer, but is now cancer-free after very invasive surgery: https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/real-life/cancelling-gig-jocelyn-brown-saved-28031901 He's important enough for a wikipedia page, in case it comes back: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Mondesir Edit: Though actually, he's not just cancer-free, but got the "all clear", i.e. 5 years without cancer, so maybe a VERY distant possibility.

Looks like that was the best suggestion in this thread! Dead in February
-
Actually one of the better suggestions in this list! Just died 2 days ago.

Wikipedia says that American pianist and classical composer Gil Trythall died in February this year: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gil_Trythall He is a DDP pick, so List of the Lost. Can't find the source for the death date though. -
Alright, here's a last call.... It is my turn to hand over my part of the DDP work to another person. Please contact the committee if you are up for taking over the data part for the DDP. While we have received some interest the last time, it would preferable to find somebody who is already somewhat in the know about how to work with Excel, Access, maybe a bit of .html (only in the rare case of troubleshooting or changing the score rules). If you volunteer, we can do the transition to the next year together. I promise, I'll assist heavily. And well, I want to assure folks that if nobody steps up, I can do it for another year. The machine is well-oiled, I'd say, and I am having a bit of fun with it. BUT: If I stay on as DDP co-host, I will not take over the DeathList Cup. I might not be able to assist in a smooth transition next year. It could be an abrupt change from 2024 to 2025, so it would be a big improvement to do that this year. And who knows if I am staying motivated for another year. I don't want to run away screaming like former host The Man in Black.

Very Rev. Hugh Wyllie, the former moderator of the general assembly of Scotland has died at age 89: https://www.churchofscotland.org.uk/news-and-events/news/2023/articles/tribute-to-former-moderator-of-the-general-assembly-who-has-died I thought I recognized the name, and yes, he is, of course, a DDP pick.
