Oh, no! I am a bit of a fan of hers. I know exactly which songs you speak of. "I need to get that tone a little bit lighter..." That's a pity.

I always see the Jimmy Savile thread and this one very active. It's like it's all one giant pedophile conspiracy. Is there any connection between the two. Has any person ever been groped by both of them?

One of Germany's most 'popular' (let's say 'renowned') historians, Hans-Ulrich Wehler, has died at 82. http://www.spiegel.de/kultur/gesellschaft/hans-ulrich-wehler-nachruf-auf-den-historiker-der-bielefelder-schule-a-979592.html (german link)

Richard Mellion Scaife, orchestrator of Hillary Clinton's 'vast right-wing conspiracy', media-mogul, and heir to a banking fortune, is dead at 82. I thought he was already dead... http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/05/us/richard-mellon-scaife-influential-us-conservative-dies-at-82.html?_r=0

He has to survive another season though. Or you know they could just write him out offscreen if anything happens like most shows would. I once made the mistake of looking at the "A game of ice and fire"-wiki because I wanted to know a bit of the Game of Thrones backstory without reading the books. I accidentally spoiled myself though and so I know that they ...probably... can't do that, because he has something to do. It could be that they leave that plotline out of the TV show, but from what I've read, it's not likely. That's all I can say without spoiling it for others as well.

That's what I told you yesterday at 6 pm I forgot there's (at least) one other german here to post obscure deaths from this country.

I'm not going to lie... I really like that movie. It made me read all the books. I'm fully aware of its faults, but there is magic in there (probably all due to the book).

I'm very sad... Let's bury him right beside Arch Stanton.

Ah, now I see, you're indeed correct. It's just another "Ultimate Collection"

You mean in late 2012. Also I'd like to point out the mild insanity of saying a 97 year old woman will definitely survive the year.... Well, I assume that Vera Lynn is on the list solely because of her age. However, since she's recording a comeback album right now, I'd say that it's extremely unlikely that she'll die because of the frailty usually associated with old age. She could still get a cold which leads to pneunomia and death, but not because of, let's say, the generally poor health condition that comes with old age. Edit: I couldn't find out if the recording process is already over or not.
-
I guess one could make a list of people on the list who are definitely going to survive this year (that is, if they still die, it's not for the reason they were put on the list). For example, Michael Schumacher might still choke on a pretzel, but he will not die as a consequence of his accident. People like Michael Douglas last year, either he dies now, or much later. Anyway, such a list would look like this: Wilko Johnson (apparently beat cancer) Valerie Harper (apparently beat cancer) Vera Lynn (enjoying her comeback more than a 97 year old woman should) George Bush Sr. (his health scare late last year didn't kill him) Charles Aznavour (still uber-active) Possibly Clive James who has been on an apparently neverending farewell tour

Indeed! Actually, when the thought of this thread first entered my mind I had him on my list, but yesterday I forgot, thanks! Rupert Murdoch, 83, CEO of News Corp., has had a bit of a bad streak lately, both personal, with the divorce from his wife, and public, with the phone hacking scandal and failure of his attempt to take over...what's the name..BSKYB or something...

The third death and the third (sometimes) comedian. So I'll pick Dick Van Dyke.

For once, the dire prognostications were right.

The death list is jinxed. The wrong german centenarian actress died.
