A woman in Indiana, by drinking too much water: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-12369573/Indiana-mom-35-dies-drinking-WATER-guzzling-equivalent-four-bottles-20-minutes.html After dehydration and a day at the lake, "No amount of watercould satisfy her". She collapsed in the garage shortly after. Not the first case, but now I understand it. And now I know, four bottles in 20 minutes is too much.

Ha, indeed! He'll try though - and commit voter fraud.

Maude Apatow death watch: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12365953/Euphoria-star-Maude-Apatow-pays-tribute-Angus-Cloud.html She says about Angus Cloud "I will love you forever" ... does she follow him into death?

I'm amazed Kabosu is still alive. A dog year is like 7 human years, so that's going into Zsa Zsa territory. However, recent updates weren't that good. I sadly think we might be getting some sad news within the next month.

Death missed Lady Gaga by one degree of separation.

Walid Daqqa reminds me of last year's name Nasser Abu Hamid. He got quite a lot of obits when he eventually died in November. So Daqqa is a name to remember. Munawwar Rana could be a future Alt Obits pool hit. James Cathcart is going soon, just not THAT soon. The mayor from Grimsby was on my list, too, but you'd want more info on how he’s doing.

I don't know.. is it time to reply to the congratulations? I hope AltObitsGuy doesn't mind, as there are 10 hrs left... (to get 7-8 hits) Anyway, thanks for the congratulations and the compliments. I don't know what happened to me this year that I just walked through this whole competition. I actually did a little less research than previously, and just focused on the core terms and, most importantly, only in the final days of the previous month. The rest was the forum (like Rachel Pollack, or Tom Sizemore) and "borrowing" (like wannamaker's Cheri Pies and Christopher Fowler, borrowed from Banana's B-team last year!). My best pick might have been Daniel Ellsberg, a universally known name (no research required!) who stuck precisely to the pancreatic cancer timeline. But it all worked out, and I'm super-glad to end on this high note. Maybe the secret was, as so often, the defense, i.e. not having missed a significant name, except for maybe Tongo and Rolf Harris. But the ratio of hits/misses was quite good. And well, I played the most Cup games of all, so the experience might matter. As I said last year, I might be available for hosting next year. I think I won't participate then as a player. I can't imagine a better finish anyway. Thanks to my opponents for the spirited games, and to Spade for hosting this tourney.

Justin Yerbury could be a well-timed hit for me, after George Alagiah.

Sad... I dropped him.

Ah yes, was just about to post that. Thanks!

Alright.... first update after the replacement period, and some of you made good use of it by picking British business founder Nick Hungerford, who was kind enough to announce his imminent demise on the BBC. Then we have the two giant hits George Alagiah and Tony Bennett. Points for everyone (almost)! Nick Hungerford wasn't the only replacement hit actually. MariNisia scores with the unique pick Victoria Amelina, a Ukrainian author who wrote about the terrors of war, and then fell victim to them herself. Sinead O'Connor was also picked, just once, by Pedro. No points pending on the kind of death in this pool... Milan Kundera was a DeathList hit, and so naturally, also a hit here. The OTHER Frank Field was a hit, lest we forget. Two players score, among them Cpt Hemlock who seems to have picked the guy in everything. Well, I hope that exactly those two players picked THIS Frank Field. Horst-Dieter Höttges was a unique hit for The Spinosaurus, well done. The dementia footballers seem to fall less frequently than we'd like to think. But Höttges did and got the QO with ease. Quite a few teams also score with Mutulu Shakur, the alternative healthcare/terrorism guy. Even looking now, he still only got the Yahoo QO. Neither Daily Mail nor Sun bothered to follow up their frequent coverage of him a couple of years ago. But it counts, lucky us. Oscar winner Alan Arkin was also a hit, some time ago. Two people score, Cpt. Hemlock is among the two, again. The Spinosaurus is the other. CalebH scores a unique hit with former governor of Connecticut, Lowell Weicker. One of the last "Rockefeller Republicans", he was on some issues more liberal than his democratic successor in the Senate, Joe Lieberman. Must have also been one of the last times this happened. TorvaMessor scores uniquely with Harry Markowitz. I had to be reminded that his Economist obit counted for the DDP, and thus, here. But since then, he also got the Financial Times, so it's alright anyway. Markowitz was important because he invented a certain formula, a bit out of thin air, to value financial products. When I learned about it, it didn't really make sense to me. But sometimes, you just use something because it works, and there is no alternative... And I think that's it. Oommen Chandy waits for a QO (well, drol does), I'm afraid it won't come... His second indian non-QO after Parkash Singh Badal... Unfortunately, this is not the Alt Obituaries Pool. Summer in Transilvania waits for an obit for Wilhelm Büsing, the "oldest living Olympian"..maybe something at the end of the year? Relatively unlikely though. The scoreboard shows that Banana might just have made the decisive step ahead of his closest followers by picking Nick Hungerford. That pick also makes Joey climb onto the podium. dead Sinéad O'Connor aka Shuhada' Davitt
gcreptile replied to Spade_Cooley's topic in DeathList Forum
I'm leaning towards marking her as an unnatural death for the DDP, but theoretically, it could "just" be a heart attack. On the other hand "Not suspicious" doesn't rule out a suicide with a written note. -
One...might... create a thread for Kubrick akin to the "Lynch mob". Maybe call it Eyes shut, or something.
-
He had the swollen hand a while back. The blood circulation and heart must be damaged. And it will kill him, but then, he IS 80+ years old.

Whose demise would make the world a better place
gcreptile replied to Charlotte's Controller's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I'd add a couple of fossil fuel lobbyists and super-capitalists like Jamie Dimon. Elon Musk is also getting there. Everyone who pits people against each other, ignores science and hinders progress for personal gain. Contrarian opinion: I can live with "enlightened" dictators who modernize their countries but demand absolute authority, for example the Saudi Crown Prince and the Chinese Communist Party. I think they're as good/as not bad as those centrist conservatives who are democrats but also without vision, like David Cameron, or Angela Merkel.- 15 replies

He should make a movie with Mel Gibson, you know, old bachelors moving in together, one has an endless and shaky history with women, one has an endless and shaky history with men and now they are getting together to stage one final big pool party and everyone is invited.
