So every source that had a date gives Saturday, 1st, e.g.: https://www.subrayado.com.uy/fallecio-el-presidente-del-club-nacional-futbol-jose-fuentes-n919522 https://es-us.deportes.yahoo.com/nacional-luto-murió-presidente-josé-143157481.html I think there's no room for ambiguity anymore. Here's also an english language obit: https://todaytimeslive.com/sports/337743.html

Ah yes, wanted to post it because german media picked it up in great measure. His final instagram post is curious. He had hernia surgery, lost some of his muscle build, took hormones again. So not a suicide, more like drug or body abuse. Edit: BILD says it was an aneurysm.

However, we still accepted FFBIs back then of which DI picked two. I also suffered from 2 non-obits IIRC. 2017 scored somewhat differently, but they also allowed FFBIs. Still, there are actually not that many record-breaking games in 2017 and 2018.

We need a fourth official ;). Or we can wait a day or two? James Whale would be 2nd sub.

Good morning, meh, not a good start

I also like to occasionally look at people who have received a lifetime achievement award, because maybe it's their last chance to get one... Here, for example, Michael J Fox, 3 weeks ago: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12167407/Michael-J-Fox-supported-family-receives-Lifetime-Achievement-honor-NYC.html More obscure, Taiwanese actress Brigitte Lin: https://sg.style.yahoo.com/brigitte-lin-receive-golden-horses-060200513.html Susan Lucci and Maury Povich: https://variety.com/2023/tv/awards/susan-lucci-maury-povich-daytime-emmys-lifetime-achievement-award-1235646217/ Busta "Remember him?" Rhymes: https://people.com/bet-awards-2023-busta-rhymes-tears-up-lifetime-achievement-urges-rappers-not-to-fight-7553073 And of course, the already mentioned honorary Oscar winners Mel Brooks, Angela Bassett, Carol Littleton and Michelle Satter.

Yes, it was true for Robert Zimmer, too. Maybe there are other names around that should be a slam dunk for a 2024 team.
-
Yeah, I was like, he's dead?? Wouldn't surprise though.

Oh wow... she died on the same day as Affirmative Action... -
Jeanette Lee is already in? You can give a 5th name, or Virgil will stay in.
-
Alright, you've got until the end of tomorrow (GMT!) to transmit your substitutions if you want to make use of it. You can replace up to five names - meaning any number from 0-5. As for me, I kick out: - Toni Hilland - Hosea Sanders And I put in: - Linda Nolan - Cale Yarborough

It would be "funny" if Carmen Sevilla doesnt get an obit now, but her fake death news in 2020 did.

I was the only one (?) in the upper score bracket to also have Ted Kaczynski. Depending on the bonuses, he might be worth about 100 points. Jonnie Irwin is also a goner, imo. So I kind of see myself at roughly 600 points at the mid-year point with no room to grow. A weird situation, because by all accounts, it should be enough, by a good measure. But it feels like it's being taken out of my hands. Shakur and James Whale aren't exactly looking like possible targets, Shakur more so than Whale actually, but are very much out of order for this. Edit: Though I do want to say how pleased I am with the Forrest and Paul hits. The gofundme for Frederic Forrest predicted a death roughly mid-year. And I thought he might die pretty much exactly when he did. And Daniel N. Paul, as a "ready to go, but not quite yet", was also exactly right.
-
Trying to remember here in the office, but I think that if Daniel N Paul fails to get the QO, and Lord Ogilvy gets one, then Gooseberry Crumble advances to having hte most hits so far.

Matt Rendell, Australian rules footballer, not a legend, but a "Great", dead at 64: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/afl/article-12241611/Tragedy-AFL-legend-Matt-Rendell-dies-aged-64-suffering-heart-attack.html Heavy heart attack that put him on a list for next months pools.
