By now, I actually think it was just an excuse not to leave the house anymore, and to spend the time with Rosalynn who might actually be worse off.

I am receiving your PMs. I won't adjust the longlist here in this thread, because it's so big, it's a pain in the ass. I have received Perhaps, Spinosaurus, LadyFiona and wannamaker.

Daniel N. Paul is a unique hit for me.

Daniel N. Paul is another hit for me, also unique, it seems: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia That's four hits in June. Sadly, death has skipped Mutulu Shakur and James Whale so far. So my team might be running out of gas soon, but maybe it's enough.

Ha, indeed it is. Though I'm 100% sure the Financial Times and other sources will join in.

In the context of Ben Ferencz' death, I was wondering how many eyewitnesses of the top Nazi echelon there might still be. I forgot about Ruf though. I assume the last people who saw Hitler eye to eye were those unfortunate 16 year old boys of the Volkssturm.

Yup, had the same idea, last month: Do people really want to miss out on such an obvious choice?

Only one necessary replacement for me so far, Kate Figes. And the replacement, Rush Limbaugh, died, too, of course. So it seems like I have 11 hits so far. Is that good or bad? Well.... let's see in another 5 years.

Hits, hits, hits!! Thank you all for mentioning the names above, especially the rarer ones. Especially Gooseberry Crumble and Cpt. Hemlock continue their streak of left-field unique hits. Researching night club owner/criminal figure Ronnie Knight was enjoyable, I remember. Pat Cooper as well... I added him to my longlist and even gave him a "50% chance of dying this year"... missed chance for me I guess, but not for Cpt Hemlock. Glenda Jackson another hit for Gooseberry Crumble, who needs one more hit to share the "most hits of the year" record. Edna Child, unique hit for Joe Moneypenny, was another gem to research. Though I guess, being the oldest olympian of the UK at the time should have put her on more radars (she floated kind of under the surface, hurr hurr). She was not picked for the DDP, but here! There were also the big names Silvio Berlusconi, Ted Kaczynski, Pat Robertson, Gordon McQueen, Teresa Taylor and the like. Frequently picked names. Christy Dignam, also very prominent, but picked here only once, by Sean, who kept the faith, congrats! I thought I had picked Frederic Forrest in everything, but I guess news arrived too late to pick for me in this pool. But three of you score. Winnie Ewing is a unique hit for YoungWillz, and Francoise Gilot is a unique hit for Death Impends. Anita Cornwell does not have a QO for this game. I am not sure if it will come, to be honest. Let's see. Scorewise it wasn't that exciting at the top, but SalmonMousse missed Kaczynski, which might make a difference in the end. The field catches up though. Finally, another reminder to email me your midyear substitution picks, you can switch up to five names (with those on your team who are still living). I will put my two own substitutions in this thread in a couple of days to give you a heads--up. Currently debating with myself whether to pick Yevgeni Prigozhin.... Frederic Forrest...a unique hit for me?

I wonder if Steven Seagal ever met Yevgeni Prigozhin and said, "You know, I used to be a cook, too."

Sky News presenter and one-time press secretary for Nick Clegg, Rae Stewart, dies at 56, following an 'illness': https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12214963/Sky-News-ITN-presenter-Rae-Stewart-dies-aged-56.html

He's wasting away in the "better to be dead" kind of way that Joost Van Der Westhuizen also did. For some reason, these people can still go outside and more or less participate in things. There's also the kind of "bedridden and begging to die" kind of case that Steve McMichael has to suffer through. And there's the "looking stable but organs damaged, so need a ventilator" category that is/was represented by Noel Conway. I don't know if one can do an analysis on these types for our purposes, but I guess one conclusion is, that I'd rather have none of them.
