Dametrius Walker, Michigan football talent whose rise was abruptly stopped by osteosarcoma, has died: https://michigan.rivals.com/news/michigan-inspiration-dametrius-meechie-walker-has-passed-away Not sure if he had been acceptable for the DDP, but he's my second shortlist loss today. -

Australian radio host Mel Dzelde has died: https://radiotoday.com.au/goodbye-mel-the-world-has-become-a-little-bit-darker/ I think she was on my endless Cup lists. She had coverage by Oprah just two weeks ago, and so made a few of my 2023 lists. She had cancer and ALS.

I was toying with a Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul theme team, as some actors were showing their age, Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), Bob Odenkirk's heart attack, Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis), and now, of course, Carol Burnett, too.

Here's one to make up my mind about: The "king of Animusic", i.e. Animé soundtracks, Ichirou Mizuki has been diagnosed with lung cancer spread to brain: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2022-07-26/singer-ichiro-mizuki-reveals-lung-cancer-diagnosis/.188043?ann-edition=us Most likely obitable, but also back on stage after successful surgery, and Japan has pretty good cancer survival rates.
