There's a high risk that she wouldn't have lived to be a centenarian had she stayed in Germany. Simply because of the people with Swastika armbands on. (FYI, she was Jewish in case you didn't know). Haha, thanks. But they won't hire me when they see that I made the 10 much smaller than the 50.

We need an update before the year is over! It should look a little something like this:
-
Oh. Well as one of my least favourite DL picks ever, I suppose that's one way of ......... Wait. Oh fuck. I'm drawn with you Predictor....... no wait, you win on a tie-break cos of more hits. Deathray if you have any clean tissues left after you've finished wanking to Rainer's pics, I could use some... or, alternatively.... COME ON CASTRO DIE NOW DIE NOW DIE NOW Haha, really, we're tied? Who would've guessed that last December 31st? While I have more hits, your 20 starters have a younger average age than mine. The problem is that literally all of those from your team who died were 80-89. So that's 6x5 plus 3 extra points for your unique pick. My hits were more diverse with the youngest at 70s (Womack) and now Rainer at 100s. This just proves that there are different paths towards the same "exit". Hey, what if Castro does die later this year but the obits arrive on January 1?
-
Sad to hear. May she rest in peace. Looks like my final result will be 6 hits and 33 points.

Dana Plato had drug addiction problems, not mental issues. I doubt Amanda would commit suicide, she’ll calm down sooner or later. Btw, I’d like to make a few comments about your signature. In Dutch/Afrikaans, the beginning letters in the words ”de” and ”van” are never capitalized. So it’s Joost van der Westhuizen. This is because they are prepositions and not actually part of the name itself. Similarly, the ”de” part of Olivia de Havilland doesn’t have a capital letter either. The name Joao Havelange has an ”a-tilde” in it, so it’s João Havelange. Reinhard Hardegan ---> Reinhard Hardegen. Aside from spelling errors, I’d like to point out that the Chands are only notable combinedly, not individually. That is, if one of the spouses die and get an obit, the surviving widow will probably not get media attention when he/she dies.

Erm, this is my first year. I meant you got more in your first than I did. Sorry my statement was about as clear as Aldi vodka. To be fair, you used past tense to describe the ongoing competition. This is what you said: "Still you got more hits than I did in my first year so hey..... you win I guess". But Zorders, the year is not over yet. I have faith in your skills and talent to gather more hits during the closing days of December, I know you can do it. Oh wait, Christmas is pretty much over now. So I don't have to be overly nice to everyone anymore.... HAHA, I GOT MORE HITS IN MY FIRST YEAR THAN YOU HAVE!!!
-
Don't be silly.
-
Yeah, you're right. The amount of points is much more important than the number of hits. Unless you get a 20/20, that would be really impressive even if all the entries were nonagenarians/centenarians.
-
Because........ more people had a shitter year this year than you? Jesus man even football fans could figure that one out. Still you got more hits than I did in my first year so hey..... you win I guess How many hits did you get in your first year?
-
Can someone help me out here? I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should be satisfied with this year's competition. Stats: 2013: Final position = 110 Amount of hits = 8 Total points = 43 2014: Current position = 96 Amount of hits = 5 Total points = 29 As you can see, I had way more scores and hits last year, YET I'm higher on the scoreboard than I was last year. Why is that? Should I be proud or disappointed? Regards, Confused Predictor.

That gif/emoticon seriously gives me the creeps. It's as if Thing found a lover and they're doing something inappropriate together. Ughh.

Awesome, I have now bombarded them with suggestions via pm. Hope they appreciate it.

Fellow DeathList committee members. I would like to take the time to make another nomination for the 2015 list. Her name is Diana Serra Cary but is more famously known as "Baby Peggy." Why should she be included? Well, aside from her respectable 96 years, she currently holds the distinction of being the only, I repeat, only living human being on this planet who was world famous in the 1920s, all categories. Once she passes away, an era will come to an end. A symbol of the pre-Great Depression. A salute to the roaring twenties as we ourselves also are fast approaching the twenties, yet a century later. Surely she's more worthy of inclusion than a nobody like Al Molinaro?

Whom Are You Tarring With The Epithet "twunt"?
Predictor replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
It's only fitting that my 300th post comes exactly 2 years after my 1st post. That makes an even average number of 150/year. -
No, not Eva Marie Saint. She's too healthy. Here are some other candidates: Joan Plowright: Forced to end her acting career this year due to macular degeneration, a.k.a. complete blindness. Her being a Dame makes her perfect for the DL in terms of notability. Also that she's the window of the late mega star Laurence Olivier. Patricia Hitchcock: In October 2013, it was revealed that she was in "extremely poor health." Ok, she's no Alfred but adding her should still give us a suspenseful and thrilling 2015. Jocelyn Wildenstein: She's pushing 75 and we've seen how potentially fatal plastic surgeries can be at such an advanced age (case in point: Joan Rivers).

So, How's Your 2015 Shortlist Looking?
Predictor replied to Spade_Cooley's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
A few questions I have: 1. Who will replace "the man in black" for 2015? 2. Why not introduce a new system that's similar to a football league, where you get relegated if you don't finish top 100? It would increase the competitiveness and make all the teams try harder. Back on topic, how is my shortlist looking? Actually, I don't think I'll be participating next year. I've slowly and steadily come to realize that I don't like searching for, and reading about, illnesses and dying people (whether they're celebs or not). It's incredibly depressing, even though you do get "desensitized" after a while. But still, I'm getting sick of this whole death subject. I don't want to develope hypocondria until I'm at least 70-80. And since I don't want to do actual research (which requires reading and reading), I would just end up picking high-profile super old people like Fidel Castro or Vera Lynn for the sole reason of their high age and fame. -
You like posting in this thread more than BG likes bumping "Deathlist 2014" Still good point though, although there's a few errors there in the murky depths of those old pages. You probably shouldn't spend too long poking around in those dusty old things you'll give yourself chronic hackingcoughitis or summat. The reason I looked at those old DL versions was because I wanted to see which celebs have been picked most times. So far, those with 10+ appearences are... Clive Dunn: 16 Queen Mother: 14 Ronald Reagan: 14 Ronnie Biggs: 13 Bob Hope: 13 Kirk Douglas: 12 Eli Wallach: 12 Pope John Paul: 12 Fidel Castro: 11 Michael Foot: 11 Katharine Hepburn: 11 Barbara Cartland: 11 Kurt Waldheim: 11 Jake Lamotta: 10 General Pinochet: 10 John Mills: 10 Alistair Cooke: 10 Don Bradman: 10 And yes, I appear to post a lot in this thread. Sorry, I'll see to it that I tone it down a bit in the future.

Hi, I'd like to point out an error. On this page, Lord Denning is listed as born in 1903. Yet it says he was 100 years old. Which one is it?

Hey! Since I've had a Swedish hit on my main team 2 years in a row, I'll compile a list of old Swedes that are somewhat notable. *Under construction* Egon Sundberg (February 27, 1911): The oldest living Swedish footballer. He played as a left winger in a team in the top league. However, he didn't get any caps in the national team. Ingeborg Sjöqvist (April 19, 1912): The oldest living Swedish athlete to have competed in the Olympics. She was a diver in the 1932 & 1936 editions. Ebbe Grimsland (June 11, 1915): Swedish musician, mainly as a violin and mandolin player. He's made more than 200 compositions. Don't know his current health status. Carl-Henrik Hermansson (December 14, 1917): Political leader for the then called Communist Party of Sweden. Praised Stalin at the time of his death, something he later regretted. His wife died in 2001. Don't know his current health status. Guje Lagerwall (January 13, 1918): Small-scale actress whose notability comes from the fact that she's the daughter of the famous movie director Victor Sjöström. Don't know her current health status, probably not even obitable anyways. Gunnel Vallquist (June 19, 1918): Author and translator who is a member of the Swedish Academy (you know, the ones who decide who wins the Nobel Prize in litterature). Don't know her current health status. Eva Henning (May 10, 1920): Actually born in United States, but appeared in many Swedish films in the 1940s and 1950s. They were mostly directed by her husband Hasse Ekman, a.k.a. one of the greatest Swedish directors of all time. Eva appearently lives in Norway nowadays. Barbro Hiort af Ornäs (August 28, 1921): Actress who won an award for "Best Actress" in the 1958 Cannes Film Festival. Ok, three other Swedes did as well, but only she and Bibi are still alive. Don't know her current health status. Olof Hanner (July 12 or December 7, 1922): Mathematician who created many formulas that I don't understand enough to explain here. Except that he helped develope the board game Go! Don't know his current health status. Ulf Grenander (July 23, 1923): Another highly accomplished mathematician. Here's a book he published just recently in 2012: http://www.amazon.co...t=relevancerank Not sure if he's living abroads at the moment. -

This discussion about German Nazi-era film stars reminded me of Anneliese Uhlig. Born in 1918, she is still alive and actually appeared in a German TV movie called George in 2013. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2485900/ She resides in California nowadays: https://familysearch...3/1:1:QJF8-HFN5 -
May I suggest Alan Young to be included in the DL 2015? 1. Being in the DL is about have your full career honoured as you say farewell to Earth. Mister Ed and (the voice of) Scrooge McDuck were very popular in their heydays, and I feel it's time for Alan to be recognized. 2. While he's mostly known in United States, he was born in Northumberland, United Kingdom, so there is a strong British connection here. Perfect for a British death pool. 3. He could be a direct replacement to fellow 1919:er Al Molinaro, who I don't feel has the same status to be included in the list. 4. In 2008, there was an article about his financial and social troubles: http://pagesix.com/2...ull-of-sadness/ 5. His last name leaves plenty of room for creative headlines in case he passes away. Sincere regards, Predictor.
