She was a stunner alright.

I think this acting legend is now deserving of his own thread, based on the following from the FT in November 17 and due to the fact I have him on my Nags Head DP10 as well! Gatiss recognises someone at the door to the restaurant, a frail figure in a wheelchair, wearing a beanie. It’s Ian Holm, the 86-year-old actor who just three years ago was appearing as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit films. “He was brilliant,” says Gatiss, transfixed. https://www.ft.com/content/51d3c7e4-c8c2-11e7-ab18-7a9fb7d6163e He seems to now be in permanent retirement and IMBD lists no roles since the aforementioned Hobbit in 2014. Like Alan Rickman, I suspect many people will only realise just how fantastic an actor he was after he has departed.

He only married Jane 5 years ago. What a shame. -
Max Moseley maxed out https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/breaking-max-mosley-dead-ex-24173977 Will they wear black shirts to his funeral?

Shame to hear, I recall him being a particularly good ref, rarely fooled and dished out cards to those who tried.

There's been a slow trickle of Mexico 86ers departing over the last couple of years. My first World Cup so rather poignant.

He looks to be in a similar place now to where Mark E. Smith was 12 months before he croaked. I'm struggling to see how McGowan gets much beyond the beginning of next year.

Duke of Deadinburgh. I genuinely thought he'd be cussed enough to make 100 and croak a few days later.

Been watching One Foot in the Grave boxset the last few days. He guested most series as a one-off character (as well as doing that awful-yet-catchy theme tune). Anyway, he looked old and middle aged well before most of the others but seems to be in aspic now. He could be a contender for the last man standing; Michael Palin, bless him, did look a bit old and hooty on the recent BBC retrospective of his globetrotting travel series from back in the day.

It's got 'descent into civil war' written all over it.

Centenarian material, if he can drop a few pounds.

I suspect Cherry is no longer bothered about what WJK's opinion of her is these days. My guess is that it means nobody asks her about jumping ship to Alba until after the election...

'Ornery' is a fantastic word; thank you for introducing me to it.

Charlie Hebdo did similar. Shrieking outrage from some but to me it's excellent satire. BTW the translation says "Why Meghan left Buckingham...", with her replying "because I couldn't breathe anymore"

I genuinely forget that Liza is still alive, I have her mentally marked down as deceased about 10 years ago.

Looks like I won't be seeing a fully-functioning Girls Aloud gig again. Me and my mate went to one of their Wembley shows on what we twigged to be their final 'proper' tour; and quite possibly the only two straight men in the audience once you'd stripped out the dads of tweenage kids. No queue for the bogs which was a bonus, we'd had a skinful.

Stagnated as a business in the late 90's / early 2000's and then Hotel Chocolat blew them out of the water on the high street; been on the brink a few times since so I can't say I'm surprised. Still waiting for the demise of WH Smith, I can't undertsand how they can be so bad yet somehow surrvive. Surely the change in commuting practices post COVID will do for them...?

Don't forget the tune as well!!

It's hard to work out with these people whether it's cold calculated posturing which they know will kill people or just immense blinkered religious stupidity. Either way, karma has served up a nice dish for us.

Tanzania's President John Magufuli is being treated in hospital in Kenya and is in a critical condition, opposition leader Tundu Lissu has told the BBC, citing well-placed sources. He has had coronavirus and a cardiac arrest, Mr Lissu said. Mr Magufuli, who has not been seen in public for 11 days, has faced criticism for his handling of Covid-19. The 61-year-old president has called for prayers and herbal-infused steam therapy to counter the virus. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-56347756 If the BBC are reporting it, they'll be confident it's beyond mere heresay. The media in Tanzania have been ordered not to mention it, of course. Another despot on the deathbed.

He had a brain tumour years ago. I guess it's one of those that can be treated but never cured and most of them get you in the end, sadly. EDIT: I highly recommend this book, which deals with them in more depth - https://www.theguardian.com/books/2014/mar/30/do-no-harm-stories-brain-surgery-review-henry-marsh
