Been really enjoying going through these lists and listening to some new stuff. The Troggs Tapes were a proper discovery, that bit in Father Ted now falls right into place!

You missed off this one's link Pied Piper (The Beeje) reached No. 29 in the UK Singles Chart in March 1963.

A jobbing actor who is never short of work, that's for sure. When you look at Ecclestone has starred in over the years, it's an impressive roll-call of diverese parts. In terms of 'series' Dr's he has the most impressive roster with (probably) another 25+ years of career to go. He had one job as the Dr - to get it back off the ground and completely sever the link to the terrible McCoy/C.Baker years. Job done, off to the next gig...

Could be three if Boris is as bad as rumour suggests

One of those who paved the way others, perhaps.

An A lister to Millennials I guess, but a nobody to most of us past our 40th birthday. Like you, the first time I had ever heard of her was when she got punchy and it was all the BBC website so they could get cheap clicks. -
My first World Cup and collected all the stickers - going to have to start crossing them off instead.

I'd expect the gap to start closing in 10-15 years as the 1960's -> high quality of healthcare over the western world's population (alongside the rise of health and safety culture) means there'll be decent amount of men who have had a good life with middling manual labour. And fewer lifelong smokers in the ranks too.

He's emininently obitable (Kenya being a former British colony and wotnot) - he's a major name in the world of Sub Saharan despots, one rung below Mugabe but on par with Kaunda. Remember the amount of keruffle when Mobutu died? There'll be prominent coverage of his passing in the sensible grown-up media unlike, say, Bill Gates dad (or Bob Barker / Alex Trabek this side of the pond)

Bill Gates' old man? Weak.

Never really got over being scammed for £300k by Matt Crawford.

Former Bristol Rovers defender Stuart Taylor, who holds the record for the most appearances for the club, has died aged 72. The 6ft 5in centre-half made 546 appearances for Rovers between 1965 and 1980, scoring 28 goals. He spent his entire professional career with the club and later went on to have a spell as player-manager of non-league side Bath City. Bristol-born Taylor had been suffering from dementia. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-50002817

Two former Wrexham footballers have died within a day of each other, the club has announced. Bernard Evans and Bobby Park made more than 250 appearances for the club between them in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Evans, who scored just 27 seconds into his debut as a 17-year-old, died at the age of 82. The club said wing half Bobby Park died the day before Mr Evans, on 23 July, aged 72. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-49129788

Lindsay Parsons, who made over 350 appearances for Bristol Rovers in the 1960's and 70's and then followed ex-team mate Tony Puiis around as part of his backroom team, dead at 73. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/tony-pulis-lindsay-parsons-bristol-2760174 The tough-tackling Bristolian enjoyed two outstanding careers in the game, first on the pitch as he made 360 league appearances for the Gas, and then as assistant and chief scout with Pulis over 28 years on a journey from Gillingham at the bottom of the Football League all the way to Stoke in the top-flight. Their professional relationship was underpinned by a close friendship that was first fostered when Pulis arrived at Rovers as a teenager in the early 70s with Parsons an established and influential first-team player. "I met him in '73 when I joined Rovers, we just seemed to get on very well together," Pulis told Bristol Live. "He was very much is own man but we were just good mates. "Lindsay just set such high standards, on and off the pitch, he was just a really, really good man. He's a throwback, they'd call him a dinosaur today in terms of his values. He expected you to be honest, hard working, respectful. He wanted players who played for the team.

Oddbins calls in the administrators https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-47085479 There are a number of plausible 'blame Brexit' scenarios for companies that are struggling, but a high st booze merchant going under certainly isn't one of them

Well done Leah for seeing 2019 (well, I'm assuming she'll be OK for the next few hours). Perhaps there's something in this shamanic stuff after all!

*cough cough* https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/nov/14/debenhams-shares-fall-by-21 The shares lost more than 21% – closing at just 5.27p – on reports that some of its suppliers have turned against the company. Twelve months ago the shares were changing hands at 40p and five years ago they were more than 100p. Two London-based suppliers have cut ties with Debenhams while another has reduced the amount of business it does with the chain, according to fashion trade magazine Drapers. Their decision was reportedly triggered by a decision made by credit insurers to reduce the protection they provide for suppliers to cover their costs in the event that Debenhams goes bust and is unable to pay them. Reducing the amount of cover available to Debenhams suppliers indicates that the credit insurers, which have extensive experience of the retail market, believe the chain is at risk. The move comes just weeks after credit ratings agency Moody’s downgraded its long-term outlook for Debenhams and increased its “probability of default” rating, which assesses how likely it is that the company will be unable to pay some or all of its debts. “They owed us so much money at any one time, we decided it was too risky,” one supplier told Drapers. “It’s not worth it. I know other suppliers are nervous about going forward with Debenhams, [and] we were in the same boat. It could be a disaster for them.”

In the news today is that Eddie Mair is leaving the BBC (with no destination as yet), so I had a quick look at the news report being a fan of PM. Previous images of Eddie showed a well-fed, healthy chap. The one on the report looks like he's got AIDS or similar. Judge for yourselves - but he's on my longlist... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-44672218 Then Now
