Political Discussions And Ranting Thread
En Passant replied to Deathray's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Boris is interested in Boris. If he has the slightest competence at all it's in getting voters to believe something different. In fairness as alluded to above by msc he's hardly alone in that. Farage is the same with but with less of the faux charm. Ditto Rees-Bogg, Ditto Gove. Cameron's another, he called the referendum in an attempt to get his own dissident back-benchers in line, it was nothing to do with the good of the country. From his perspective he made a fatal error. You may be on either side of the brexit argument, but don't deceive yourself it was ever called on behalf of the populace, it was political maneuvering. These guys cough, we catch a cold. -

Short answer. Yes. It's politics isn't it? The canny out there will suspect that Boris doesn't give a flying fuck about burka's one way or the other (and he means niqab anyway). He is pandering to his perceived base at the cost of a very few votes he likely wouldn't have got in the first place. Sadly he is not nearly as daft as he acts, and it is an act. -
Wondered about that since I never get my arse in gear for the main events. I suspect my antennae on such things aren't as in tune as others. Went on the basis that if I knew them with my lack of research they'd probably qualify. Time will tell. Anyway since I picked them they are now immortal, one does what one can.

Good luck Rad. Don't bump into the arch. -
The lightweight. I've been wrecked a lot more than that. To be fair that may be partly why I never invented much.

So .. What Do You Watch On TV?
En Passant replied to Banshees Scream's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
The BBC has lost the plot with this balance idiocy. Giving any time at all to climate change deniers like Lawson with vested interests is barking mad and dangerous beyond belief. The uninitiated will assume there is a reasonable counterpoint when there isn't. Capitalist short termism run riot. -
Not that I watch it but I thought the antiques were supposed to be the artefacts they discover in peoples attics not the presenters.

Anything that's pick from a list and doesn't involve any actual research... I'd have a crack.

Could be used as leverage on your Corrie board though surely Deathers? "Look..they've done it for Eastenders!" ISTR having a look when somebody linked it and getting older stuff revisited was 'your thing'. Always assuming you aren't currently banned for repeat threads about repeats that is ;). -
Fell asleep in their own chairs.

Vote. *You* might feel better. Vote even if you don't feel better, I will and so will others that detest the global commercialization and growing financial disparity. So you did something good. If you want things to improve for you personally and indeed for anyone else who feels the same way, you have but one option. Vote. It's not a panacea, many feel they were sold out by Blair or would have been by Hilary, but at the danger of repetition, it's either that or pick up a gun and start a revolution, which I suppose, after a fashion worked in France a while ago. As LFN says, vote or stfu. Since you denigrate the only thing that enables your voice to be heard don't expect anyone to listen to your (political) views on this or any other forum, it's just so much hot air.

This may all be true and much worse. I could stand on a soapbox and rant about it for hours. However... Short of picking up a gun and forming an armed revolution you only have one tool, a tool that some have historically died for so that everyone should have it. It's imperfect but it's all there is. Use it.

Read a book? -
I hope you are right. Aside from Perez de Cuellar that's true of the whole lot of them for me.

Tun tin. Cartoons cannot die. Besides, he needs to take care of Snowy. And yes I know, but I don't think any of the others are real either.

Tactful bastard aintcha? A sort of Scottish counterbalance to Charon. . NB. love to read both though, makes me smile. (ok that's enough of that, I think I just felt a bit of sick come up).

And from herein that's probably the last we'll hear of it. -
Ya, I'm with you here Charon. I'm like what? How is this news? Sad and all but ffs he lost a locket through his own stupidity and we're supposed to read about this as 'news'? It's emotional journalism of the lowest sort. People and children die daily, much of it preventable and they feed us this?

Whilst I will admit it is, without question, a very daft name. She's actually pretty good in The West Wing. I admit a certain bias here as (though american) it's one of my favourite programmes ever and Jean-Anne, Janine whatever the fck her name is doesn't let it down. Don't like the tats though.
