I'd absolutely agree with you but for one thing, nothing else seems to get noticed, or works. I thought the same at the time of the poll tax riots, that was also disrupting to ordinary people and for all I know stopped ambo's too - however, it worked, the government backed down. Gluing yourself to Shell or BP's head office simply isn't going to make anything happen. And you can't do it at #10 or any government department since reasonably they are protected against actual terrorists. They can comfortably ignore a bunch of people sitting in the middle of Hyde Park causing no disruption at all - and do. Hey, I'm no green eco-warrior, nor have I taken part in any of this, but I'm not calling them loons either, not about this particular protest anyway.
-
This is like that old dilemma about the 5 workers v the 1 on the train tracks. It's unwinnable, any outcome is bad. Of course I'm with you that people should be able to get to hospital in an ambulance. But it's short sighted not to see that millions of people are being killed by the inaction of governments in this. You can't easily show a picture of these millions of people dying some time in a nebulous future, when you and I may not be around but it doesn't make it any the less certain. Direct your ire towards the governments that aren't spending nearly enough preventing (or now, ameliorating) this ecological disaster, the oil companies that are making record profits, and get annoyed about your fuel bills. We should all be protesting, and in a way that causes these fuckers to take action, we voted them there and they serve big oil and rich people invested in that in general. I'd not actually personally stop the M25, but it's hard to see other ways to do this. Voting doesn't appear to work....
-
I don't like this any more than you do, but that's not the target. Any form of protest march almost anywhere is going to cause disruption to traffic. And protesting at the 'seats of power' simply doesn't work. Anyway, as I said, this isn't the place. But what they are protesting about isn't lunacy - that's all.
-
Then you and I will not agree about quite a number of things it seems Uli.
-
I'm not interested in their politics outside climate change. More A: You only need to look at the shortfalls at cop 27 to see that not enough is being done, particularly by rich nations primarily the US but also the UK. See the pm of Barbados on the subject... B: Poll tax riots..... I'll go this far. They may be loons, but not about climate change or Big Oil, which is what they are protesting about here so far as most of us are concerned.
-
Hardly. The entire world is going to be fucked and sooner rather than later because of what they are protesting about. I don't like that it's always ordinary people that are inconvenienced by their actions, but governments are doing way to little. I know this isn't the place, nor what you meant really. But it galls me, they aren't loons at all and in my view are far more clear sighted than some of the rest of us, myself included, I've thought about it and done nothing and I've never been on so much as a protest march to the local pub.

Yeah, this was a certainty for the drop. There's the whole argument about whether one should criticize the 'art' on the basis that the 'artist' turns out to be a complete pariah and I still can't make my mind up about it if I'm honest, I try to disassociate the two and consider the 'art' in isolation, but it's not always easy to do. This was a pretty rubbish track anyway, so the point is moot. Not going to run into the problem with Rolf either. Michael Jackson is a tougher call. -

I liked rock and roll part 2, I thought the guitar noise was glorious at the time. Mind you it's pretty much an instrumental anyway which might help and I'm not certain I really had much in the way of critical faculties yet (some will argue I still don't), I was still in shock from the first time I'd put a pair of headphones on and heard these people in the middle of my head. -

That's an unforgiveable sin for something so dire. -
I will admit however that "your a fuckin spammin cunt" or whatever your exact term was, does have a certain impact mate
-
I was amongst the first to point out the annoyance (and I quote myself "selfishness") of liking everything that moves. Get your name everywhere in 4 and a half minutes. get the entire board talking about you even though realistically you are nobody and need to take a bit of time to build a decent reputation..... But fuck it, I don't have the time. I point it out. and if you don't get it (he didn't)....Ok , well I'll either ignore you or take the piss as the mood takes me. What else can you do?
-
I'm in favour (en favor) of anything that beats boredom/provokes interest/starts a decent row etc etc. Diego is my hero even (or perhaps because) I can have a pop.
-
I'd like to change my name to "Diego" please. It'll fuck with people's heads and right now I I'll get a giggle from that, well assuming I can keep track of what the hell I posted, hmmm.. I know, I'll 'like' everything I've read that'll fix it.
-
I also ask myself this question every single time a name change is requested. To the point where I think it should be a rule that your old name is displayed if a new one is granted.....I am however as completely in the dark as you are when I don't recognise the old one either. Fuck it who cares?
