Not at all, I didn't really know, I remember the quad sculls were close and following the earlier question from Grimupnorth about thousandths, simply went on from that to wonder if any were as close the other way as the ones you originally quoted. It's why I asked - far too lazy to do the work myself . -

How is there still diving going on? Surely this started on day 1? There's altogether too many medals for splish-splash of one description or another in the Olympics. Introducing break dancing hasn't improved it mind you. -

I have no use for presents at all, far rather just visit people and go out and do whatever floats our collective boats, meals, a day trip, pissed in a series of pubs, whatever. Those memories are worth more to me these days than 'things'. As toast points out surprises are overrated and just sit in a cupboard at best. Maybe it's my age and to some degree 'privilege' I suppose (though I'm an awfully long way from rich), but honestly there's nothing I want or desire for present money amounts that I didn't already buy and the same is true for everyone I know. Further, in this day and age it's hardly green to just pile up more stuff. xmas is even worse, it's for kids and retailers. Bah humbug. -

Thought about that for a while. If so, We do indeed have to agree to disagree I think he's right, it is. It's absolutely necessary. There may, just may, be an element of 'with others' in a team sport, but for the most part, no, it's all about me is how it is, and by definition has to be. Within the confines of sport, it doesn't make that person a Boris Johnson outside of that specific arena. -

An opinion to which you are absolutely entitled. But I will never agree that the focus needed to acquire a gold medal in any damn thing doesn't include a certain amount of 'self before others' I still believe it is impossible without this. Nor am I entirely convinced this is true either. I agree with you, there is a certain community spirit also. Never simple eh? -
