What??? There goes my youth!

Oh, sad news. I once met him and his wife during a vacation in Portugal (in September 2015, to be precise). We stayed at the same hotel and got into conversations after dinner several times, because we sat next to each other on the terrace. His wife and my boyfriend were smokers and although it was a non-smoking area, nobody dared to prohibid it to Mrs. Jenninger (and the other Mr. Book) because she was a Grande Dame! While the other two enjoyed their cigarettes, me and Mr. Jenninger talked about having stopped smoking and how lucky we are now as former smokers He also told us some stories of his really interesting life (not mentioning his controversal speech). It were stories like that he and Helmut Schmidt were good friends (although they were in different parties) and during long sessions in the Bundestag they blink to each other across the room just to meet outside a few minutes later to smoke a cigarette or two, haha! All in all he was a smart and nice man whose charm and intelligence you could not escape. Goodbye, Mr. J.

Yes, Olivia is a must have for this year's list although I think that she is doing ok at the moment! No. 47 is also fine with me; she will rush to No. 12 in 2019

I think it's ok that she is included, but I am a little surprised that she crashed in at No. 9! Expected her much deeper (40s area).

There are 15 women on the DL (in relation to last year's 10) and 4 of them are inside the Top10! Well done, Committee! First I counted 18 women but at a closer look I discovered that Leslie, Valery and Mel were males! Oh, and Sandy (Gall) isn't on the list anymore! There are some expected new entries like Olivia Newton-John, Tessa Jowell, John McCain, Linda Nolan and Barbara Bush beside other nice debuts like Joni Mitchell, Mark E. Smith, June Brown and even Ronnie Wood. I'm not sure what to say about Charles Aznavour, Dick van Dyke, Paul Gascoigne and novice Mel Brooks because they seemed to be ok or fit or fine or healthy, what I've read in their threads. Also I would have appreciated a new No.1, it could have been a little highlight. And that's what I'm missing on this year's list: a highlight, a wow-effect, a little more creativity. But at leat a solid list without a doubt.

Maybe the Committee will chose a British TV or soap-actress over a (not so well-known) American actress, except she is honored with Oscars, Golden Globes or Emmys. Look at this year's list: 4 American actresses: Olivia de Havilland - Oscars, Golden Globes Betty White - Emmys Valerie Harper - Golden Globe, Emmys Mary Tyler Moore - Golden Globes, Emmys 4 British actresses: Leah Bracknell - soap Jill Gascoine - TV Honor Blackman - TV, soap, movie Liz Dawn - soap American actress Charlotte Rae didn't receive any of these awards. So maybe the chances are higher for Doris Day (Golden Globes) to come back or for Joanne Woodward (Oscar, Golden Globe) to debut. Or for British soap and TV actresses to come back or debut: Prunella Scales, June Brown, Eileen Derbyshire, Paula Tilbrook or Sheila Mercier.
