    The D-A-CH-DeathList 2024 (page 18)

Interesting evaluation and statements about some candidates @Prophet. The German celebrities are probably actually different from the international ones and are not as open about reporting about their health conditions. When our list was ready I also thought about who could be a safety hit this year and I came up with 18 candidates! Wishful thinking! Let's be optimistic for 2023! Thoughts on 2023 Deathlist

I think that the list can actually top last year's list, the selection of candidates is not fundamentally bad or wrong. There are the usual suspects who stay on the list until they die (Kissinger, Barker, van Dyke, Greenspan etc) which is ok. There are good returnees (Woodward, Musharraf, Nolan, Turner) and good newcomers (Wagner, Harris, Sakamoto, Taylor). My problem with the list is quite simply that it's a little boring. The top 10 is almost static, there are hardly any big jumps or deep falls. Dick van Dyck could have dropped dramatically from 1 to 30 and would still have stayed on the list. There could have been a new entry or a re-entry to first place. The top 10 consists only of men; the first woman only comes in 15th place! Where are the younger but really very sick candidates like Vialli, Whale or Irwin? It makes no sense to exclude such candidates, after all, the DL also wants to collect points and break their own records. As you can see, things went really well this year... The whole list looks like it was put together by the so-called "white old men", with no desire for change or effort. And it probably was. It would be nice if something could change here in the future, so that both the selection of candidates and their placement are a bit more diverse, open and up-to-date.

    The DL Prediction Game 2023

Feel free to enter again @RoverAndOut I would be glad. But I know what you mean: It would have been great if Pelé had gone from 41 to 1 and Benedict XVI had re-entered to 2. A lot of movement in the DL. Now I could imagine that it remains rather static at the top. Otherwise: Last official reminder to name a replacement or its placement for Benedict XVI my list: Just for info: I will most likely not be able to do the evaluation until the middle of next week, please be patient. Thanks!

Servus, Grüezi und Hallo! As you can certainly imagine, the 2022 D-A-CH list fell short of its expectations. The Pope - disappointing as always Well, let's look ahead, let's hope for a more productive 2023 for our little list. This list was created by frleon, gcreptile, Prophet, TomTomTelekom, WEP and Book. Twisted DL 2022-2023

Ok, Jango Edwards as new sub No.3, please.
  23. A few years ago I was an active member of a German music forum. I remember that polls has brought me there: What's the best German No. 1 hit, what's the best Oscar winning song, what's the best charting song of 2014 etc. In this context one smart member created a game called “Kill or Save”. We did artists songs (e.g. every released song by The Beatles, ABBA, Rihanna, Take That, Elvis Presley, Bananarama...), 80s songs, Best No. 2 songs – whatever came into our minds. The Rules: “Kill or Save” is all about finding the best or the favorite song within one topic. Initially, each song has 20 points. To increase or decrease the number of points, you can award 4 points and subtract 6 in each round. Deduction and addition of points can vary, e.g. add 2 x 2 points or subtract 2 x 3 points. Important: You can only vote once a day to keep it fair. Yes, I know it might get a bit confusing due to the different time zones we all live in, but I'm just appealing for fairness and honesty. So please only vote once a day! You always have to use the last vote as a guide. For a better overview, please mark your voting (+ 2, + 4 or -3, - 6) and classify the song according to its current value. Example: Starting round: 20 Agnetha – Song One 20 Liam – Song Two 20 Ringo – Song Three First Voter: 24 Agnetha – Song One +4 20 Ringo – Song Three 14 Liam – Song Two -6 Second Voter: 24 Agnetha – Song One 24 Ringo – Song Three +4 08 Liam – Song Two -6 Third Voter: 28 Agnetha – Song One +4 21 Ringo – Song Three -3 05 Liam – Song Two -3 Fourth Voter: 28 Agnetha – Song One 25 Ringo – Song Three +4 00 Liam – Song Two -6 The point value for kicking doesn't have to be an exact match, but you can't keep any points either, in which case there is no point returned since Liam could have been kicked with 5. Edit 30.10.2022: Kicking my own rule here because I didn't remember The winner will now be the one who doesn't get downvoted to zero. The next round will start. And so I thought to bring this little game to you, my dear Deathlisters. I hope that enough people will join this game to have a little fun. As this is a UK-centric forum I will start with a poll about the UK-No.1-songs of the 70s. Here are the UK-No.1-songs of the 70s (spoiler): (There will be some songs with a double a-side, e.g. "I don't want to talk about it / The first cut is the deepest". This is counted as one song.) Form each round songs will enter the last round, the Grand Finale, consisting of 25 songs: 1970/71: 27 songs = the last 4 songs will enter the Grand Finale 1972/73: 34 songs = the last 5 songs will enter the Grand Finale 1974/75: 41 songs = the last 6 songs will enter the Grand Finale 1976/77: 34 songs = the last 5 songs will enter the Grand Finale 1978/79: 32 songs = the last 5 songs will enter the Grand Finale In the Grand Finale, the best UK No.1 song of the 70s will be chosen by the DeathList forum users! We start with the years 1970 and 1971: 1970 - 1971 20 Edison Lighthouse – Love grows (where my Rosemary goes) 20 Lee Marvin – Wandrin´Star 20 Simon & Garfunkel – Bridge over troubled water 20 Dana – All kinds of everything 20 Norman Greenbaum – Spirit in the sky 20 England World Cup Squad – Back home 20 Christie – Yellow River 20 Mungo Jerry – In the summertime 20 Elvis Presley – The wonder of you 20 Smokey Robinson & The Miracles – Tears of a clown 20 Freda Payne – Band of gold 20 Matthews Southern Comfort – Woodstock 20 Jimi Hendrix Experience – Voodoo Chile 20 Dave Edmunds – I hear you knocking 20 Clive Dunn – Grandad 20 George Harrison – My sweet Lord 20 Mungo Jerry – Baby Jump 20 T.Rex – Hot love 20 Dave & Ansil Collins – Double Barrel 20 Dawn – Knock three times 20 Middle of the road – Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep 20 T.Rex – Get it on 20 Diana Ross – I´m still waiting 20 The Tams – Hey girl, don´t bother me 20 Rod Stewart – Maggie May 20 Slade – Coz I luv you 20 Benny Hill – Ernie (The fastest milkman in the west) Enjoy!
