Oooh, OoO is going to be pissed that I posted this before him, but Danny Kladis, the oldest living Indy 500 starter is now the formerly oldest living Indy 500 starter, having died at the age of 92.

Editor of the popular footy site AsktheRef.com Charles W. Fleischer II has died of cancer.

Ukulele players are cursed... George Formby.. Peter Sellers.. John Lennon.. Bad news indeed for the likes of me. Me too, although I guess I always knew I was cursed - now I know why. I do need to say, though, that George Formby was a curse all on his very own! There have been, and still are, many great ukulele players out there who are/were so much more skilled than GF, and not nearly so annoying. You forgot to add Tiny Tim and George Harrison to that list Let's hope Zach Condon has some life in him yet. Ol' Tappy Tapia has beaten the odds and (thus far) lived to the ripe old age of 101.

One that struck me as surprising was Annelise Coberger - she won a Silver medal in Alpine Skiing at the 1992 Winter Olympics and, being from New Zealand, was the Southern Hemisphere's first Olympic medal-winner at the Winter Olympics. Also, North Korea has won two speed skating medals, which I find odd, but I guess I don't really know much of what goes on in that country...

Instead of admitting your mistake, you should have a month-long hissy fit about having it pointed out to you. That's the mature thing to do.

Don't talk shite. I never report useful information or important deaths either, but still believe my contribution is totally necessary (I'm the only one that does, but f**k 'em). I don't know any famous old people, and my English is crap too, I only got a C (D in Literature, damn that W**ker Shakespeare). What is it with people taking this site so seriously and chucking their toys out the pram lately? It's supposed to be a bit of a laugh, innit? Sidestepping my guess that this has something to do with alcohol, I agree with LB (and her balls). I'm almost at 3750 posts; maybe half a dozen have been good. And at this rate, there's going to be about that many regular posters...

Well if you're willing to take a chance, the illustriously named Gratia Schimmelpenninck van der Oye (born July 10, 1912) is The Netherlands' oldest living Olympian. Despite finishing 14th, she has some claims to fame that might help her garner an obituary including holding highest ranking in Olympic skiing reached by a Dutch national, being the daughter of the president of the Dutch National Olympic Committee during the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam and being a Baroness of some type. Similarily, bronze-medal winning field hockey player René Sparenberg (born December 3, 1918) is alive and living in Florida; don't know if it helps or hurts his obit chances, but it's probably fairly unlikely either way. Also, bronze medalist in field hockey Hans Schnitger (born August 5, 1915) is supposedly still alive, but I doubt he'd get an obit even if he were. Same story with Tin Dekkers (born September 18, 1916), but he didn't even win a medal, so an obit is extremely unlikely.

And a fine example of how TF's dotting has gone all the way back to 2005...

Comedy & Death - Great Combination
Canadian Paul replied to comedychris's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
All the laughter makes it look fake, unfortunately. I know it's not, but to me it really doesn't have as much of a disturbing effect because it the laughter blurs the line of reality and fiction enough that my mind doesn't quite process that he's dying on-stage. EDIT: Took me a while to find it, but this fellow's death I find far more disturbing, to show you what I mean. Take that as a warning before you click on the link. -
Jon Anderson is going to be touring again. That, coupled with the fact that what he had before wasn't really all that worrisome, means that I'm crossing him off the list. I'm keeping Genaro Hernandez on for now, but I'll note that his cancer is supposedly in remission. I must have missed this at some point, but Hank Cochran got a clean bill of health months ago, so I've removed him as well. No real update here, other than he's still working and still fighting cancer, but I couldn't pass up a chance to link to his music on his Myspace page. If there's anyone else that's improved and should be taken off the list, let me know. I'll try and update it with new suggestions soon.

It seems like there's a cusp of a dirty joke there, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

Josephine Joseph, who was the hermaphrodite, could still be alive... but it's unknown for sure.

Well, her daughter's original claimed age was 65, which would have made MDC 52 when she had her if she truly was 117 (which is exceedingly rare, even in cases where fertility drugs are used). In this case, she would have been 45, which is possible, but still unlikely given the era and society into which she was born. However, all it really is is just the GRG's way of trying to sneak subjective doubt into the claim without breaking Wikipedia's POV rules.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY IE+ and HAPPY BIRTHDAY T4H -
Exact same thing happened to me last week (well, minus the wine), so I completely sympathize with that sentiment. Where's the "mug of beer" smiley?

Well I was half right. Dead within a month of me posting this (scroll down a bit) but, aside from this notice and one on the Google obituaries group, I haven't seen anything in the way of an obituary yet.

Deathlist Dreaming
Canadian Paul replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I posted this on Facebook, but I might as well share it here as well. You know how usually when you have a dream either you know it's a dream, or it's so fantastical that it doesn't really bother you or maybe you don't think about it all? Well in this dream, I was entirely convinced that what I was witnessing was reality. So it's about midnight and I'm in the PCL (one of UT's libraries) studying for who knows what. I look out the window and I see two planes flying above the UT Tower and I'm like, hmm..., that's a bit odd, why are there two planes and why are they flying so low? It suddenly dawns on me that they are fighter-bombers but before I can make a comment, they swoop down and launch something at the UT Tower. There's really no way to convey how absolutely f*****g scary it looked... keep in mind, in the dream, there's not a single hint that what's going on is not real. No fantastical elements, everything laid out in immaculate detail etc. etc. The scene is horrific; the east side is hit first, around the 22nd floor and begins to collapse inwards, but the west side is hit on the 24th floor (right around where my office is BTW), and the whole thing just begins to crumble. Within seconds the entire building has collapsed into a pile of smoldering rubble. So I run to the site of the attack, wondering who the hell would attack Austin and why, and I get there and fires are everywhere, people are panicked and screaming, smoke is barely visible shooting upwards to the midnight sky. It was truly frightening. Then suddenly, it dawns upon me that the attack isn't finished, but was meant to draw people together on the scene. I start to run away, but I see the fighters diving in towards the crowd, then everything goes black. In the blackness, words begin to be written in flames and a strange voice is reading and commenting on them at the same time. I forget exactly what it said (sadly), but the gist of what had happened had something to do with Indian nationals in a prison in New York, and that more attacks would come from India unless I they were freed. I was told to "look it up" on the Internet and do what I could to help prevent more attacks. So yeah, now every time I see the tower at night, I'm going to think of that. Here's a link to a picture of more or less the colour scheme of the tower in my dream: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:UT_tower...y_in_orange.jpg -
http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?...st&p=132713 So kind of you CP. Now how long have you been a twat? Oh, just 3,734 "quality" posts. Keep it up. Feeling a little insecure Godot? Worried that I might overtake you in the pedantry department? It's okay, I forgive you.

Whom Are You Tarring With The Epithet "twunt"?
Canadian Paul replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Thanks MPFC. I especially appreciate the low standards to which you apply the word "quality", or summat. -
First hit in a long time too, not one in March 09... it's been quite a while since the CPDP has seen a hitless month. Anyhow, I'll update the site this weekend, probably sooner than later, most likely later today.

Where Will The Next School Massacre Be?
Canadian Paul replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
Per above, it seems that the benchmark is how it's describe in the news report - but if it were numbers, would we count the gunman in the tally if they killed themselves? -
