Interesting, but I think the whole concept works better when you can have a web page with multiple pages and formatting so that it doesn't look so... I guess cluttered is the word I'm looking for...

Seen Any Good Films Lately?
Canadian Paul replied to Cowboy Ronnie's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Saw Live Free or Die Hard. Doesn't have the charm of the first three and it seems dumbed down a bit on a few levels (he only says f**k twice for one thing). Also, it doesn't work as well when he needs a computer nerd to do half the work for him just so he can stay on top of the ass-kickings. It's still Bruce Willis doing what he does best though, so if you're in for some mindless action and don't mind some lowered expectations, I say go for it. And if you're the Banshees type, his movie daughter is not bad to look at. -
Longest serving priest in the Church of England dies at age 98.

Well, I've finally found something that Windsor and I can agree upon it would seem. Different circumstances (since the girl in the second story's only bad act was the drunk driving itself) and mine was a bit less vocal, but it's the same idea for sure and, if what Windsor says is true, I can agree with it.

Good suggestion, bad timing.

Given all the non-UK vets that were picked (Brunier, Meier, Pierro), I'm surprised no one chose him, seeing as how he was more likely to get the UK obit than any of those.

Oldest verified Canadian, Mary Ann Scoles, dies. For those keeping track (perhaps for CPDP purposes) there are no more validated living supercentenarians in Canada. Two supercentenarians born in Canada are now living in the United States, one is awaiting validation and one cannot really be validated (I believe she was born in China).

Guardian obituary for Albert Ellis. Well done to those involved.

Well, happy 84th in any case Estelle.

If it makes you feel any better, I had to look up who that was. She's cute. (And yes, I do get what you are trying to say). I don't like get-out cards, especially because in this case, using it would be somewhat pot-kettle-blackish of me. I believe somewhere in my earlier days I was docked for calling a respected member a "f*****g w**ker," so everyone lets things get the best of them at times. Back on topic, Albert Ellis has gotten UK obits, but no acceptable ones yet I think.

I should also note that the email address for the competition will remain cpdp2006, for reasons that include laziness and the chance that some wise guy could reserve future years of the competition by registering them on gmail. Think of it as referring to the year the competition started or something. Also, if anyone wants Rappers and Hoes (I doubt it) they can take it - rappers and porn stars did die this CPDP season, but it's just too random to make much sense of it.

Re: Windsor's comments. I'm not sure what my usual catchphrase is, but I'd give up my death row points if every one gave up Josie Grove. I'd even let whoever picked her as joker shift it to whomever they wanted, even if they were already dead, so long as they let me do the same. There was nothing wrong in picking Sadaam Hussein last year, since he was nowhere near a death sentence at the beginning of the year. I'd remark again that I knew who Barzan al-Tikriti was before he was in the news, but I remember what happened last time, so I'll just not.

Just spotted the above from February. S'cuse the pedantry but how can you be the greatest alive thinker AND have Parkinsons at the same time? I mean, he WAS the greatest thinker, fair enough. He IS the greatest thinker.....what does that say about the rest of us? I think you may be confusing Parkinson's and Alzheimer's MPFC...

Why did they ban you TF, if there was a reason given? Or are you sworn to silence & revealing all in your autobiography. (RRP £14.99 at all good bookshops) ? No reason was ever given, I can only surmise that it was because I criticized their lack of consistency re. obits. My team was never uploaded, by the by I'd be on 56 points now with another 8 points looming when Chemical Ali hangs. Would that include those two mayors who died of cancer? Could you post your proposed team so that we can follow your progress? yeah, my imaginary DDP team would have 250 points by now It doesn't need to be imaginary. Just full of death row inmates, Iraqis, and people of local fame such as mayors. Don't forget to add a sixteen year old girl with leukemia! I don't know if TF had her or not, this is just really a general complaint/notice of pot colour.

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2007
Canadian Paul replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I'm a blue. Colour wise not my favourite, but the description seems pretty accurate. -
I finally got around to updating the home page from the weird start we got last year, but the entry span is August 18 - September 1. Of course, no harm done if you submit it earlier, I just won't be specifically checking the account for them until then though. The only caveat is that the winner of the Theme Team this year will get first dibs on Theme Team next year. So if they happen to pick the same theme as you, you're SOL. Which reminds me, theme team priority will be as follows (as per the old rules): 1. Winner of the Theme Team category gets first pick. 2. People who had the theme last year can lay claim to it this year. 3. If it's a new theme or an abandoned old one, then whoever asks first gets it. If someone gives you the boot on a theme team and the official deadline passes, you'll still have until I post the candidates and teams (which will be a while) to submit a new one. All this will be in the updated rules that I'll be posting early August.

You mean the formerly world's oldest living MLB player?
-
Now dead as a doornail.

I certainly wouldn't object, but I'd hate to be accused of ripping off NAP. If he graced it with his blessing, I could certainly do that. Am I getting a whiff of someone's theme team FF?
-
Don't tell me that they have Head On over there too...

Suharto, to continue the randomness train. Could be Mark Felt too though, since I took him off my RDP a few months back and now he's not on any of my lists. That did it for Kitty Carlisle anyhow.

Updated to reflect the death of Tammy Faye Messner, the biggest news being Fuckety solidifying his lead more. First of all, I wanted to mention that I haven't forgot about the Theme Team bonus points, and I will be consulting a small group of people who will decide which teams get the points. Other than me, none of them will be people with theme teams in the game and I won't be eligible. Secondly, the new game is coming up in just over a month and I'll be instating some changes. Here's some of the things I've been thinking about, but please make any suggestions that you think of: 1. No picks already on death row - pretty self explanatory. 2. No picks that are both famous for being famous AND under 25. I figure 15,16,18,21 all random numbers if you think about it. There shouldn't be too much conflict if it is set at 25. The penalty for young un's will still be set at 15 or younger. 3. Handrejka's Transsexual Bonus - I was thinking a +1 bonus for any transsexual, transgenered, hermaphrodite etc. in addition to the +1 bonus for females - thus effectively giving a +2 bonus to anyone who falls into this category. 4. Only one candidate can be on both teams - I purposely left out a "mutual candidate" rule this year to see how it would play out. Only one person - Windsor - decided to take advantage, having Bobby Robson on both of his teams. So, the players have decided this one it seems, and next year the rule will be that you are allowed one candidate who can appear on both teams. I think that about covers it then.

Isn't this the younger Bush?

Get an autograph from Tammy Faye. Not surprisingly, they're a bit backed up on orders at the moment. I was thinking of doing this for the WWI veterans, but I figured it'd be best to leave them alone. It's scary how easily you can find some of their home addresses though.

Hear hear! Although I have to admit, I've never actually read one... so maybe they really are amazing. It's more of a principle I suppose.
