I consider it joint 3rd place, if it makes you feel any better.

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries Etc...2006
Canadian Paul replied to Tuber Mirum's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Happy birthday MiB! I've been trying to figure out for some time whether or not Bjork is sexy... I think my eventual conclusion was that she is, but she's just not photogenic. Therefore, I present to you a comparison: Not particularly a fan of her music in any case. -
Robert Altman's death gives Slave to the Grave her second hit on her Theme Team, bringing her into first place in the Theme Team category. Site now updated. Also, I toyed around with removing the "Famous for being Famous" penalty from Barzan al-Tikriti, but decided against it. If anyone wants to stick up for DDT though, feel free to let me know. EDIT: Turns out Altman died of leukemia, which means one less point for SttG. Still retains her lead though.

While looking up to see if I could actually win British honours, I stumbled across the wiki article for Jack Lyons. It's a bit strange. Too ill to be sent to prison, not too ill to attend swanky gatherings. Not sure if I'd put him on my DDP, but I thought I'd share him.
-
Hey, if I can't receive the honour, I don't recognize the honour.

Not quite on topic, but close enough. Article on oldest living TV stars. Setting aside the obvious fact that "TV star" should be more properly translated "American TV star," I'm not sure it's entirely correct, but I'm too lazy check. If nothing else, Charles Lane should be worthy of consideration. Anyhow, just thought I'd put it out there.

I'm not exactly a star pupil here, I need all the bonus points I can get.

Sentenced today, but avoids jail time because of being "confined to a sickbed" and "severe heart disease."

I actually like the new split because it shows that: 64% of my forum posts are in the "relevant to Deathlist" thread. Given that about 20% of my posts were in the "2006 names" thread before the split. That means the vast majority of posts were on topic, even if one were to consider that every single post in this thread is off topic (which I conjecture that they are not, this message in particular being a poor example of that ) I'm a happy boy now.

Congrats go out to Ready, Steady, Deady and Whitaker's Choice for correctly predicting the death of Edward Ford!

Welcome to DeathList, bobtoole. I moved your post to a more appropriate topic. There's been disgustingly little news on his health. This time of year last year he looked set to go, but apparently he lost his nerve. That's one good DDP joker wasted. regards, Hein I'll second that... Recalling our discussion on lightbulbs, me three. And unlike you two, I needed all the points I could get. Beginner's luck my ass.

Had a dream last night where Charles Lane and Milton Friedman were catapulted into a tree in the middle of nowhere and I had to try and save them by traveling through time. Long story short, Lane died and in the end, Milton Friedman proved to have magical powers that allowed him to teleport, so he saved himself. Then I had to deal with the army of duck penguins that my cat had sent to my front door as he tried Friedman's teleport trick, but that's another story. That's the second time I've had a dream about Lane dying, which, granted, means nothing, but is more than the F**k all that has been in the news about him.

News stories originating from the East (Hester) or West coast conurbations are far more likely to get UK coverage, that big bit in the middle gets largely ignored. Not forgetting that Hester's story was just the sort The Guardian loves. Stewarts is rather too folksy, but given Christmas is close at hand, maybe he'll get mentioned by the red-tops on a slow newsday. Looks like the already low standards of the Guardian have been set even lower. Definitely at least possibility - though not for DL of course, but DDP and HDP deadlines are coming up...

Kansas' Secret Santa Larry Stewart is dying of cancer. I'm aware of the awfully questionable level of fame, but I included him for two reasons: a) If a news story about him pops up the UK in the next few days, he'll probably get a UK obit b ) If Laurel Hester got a UK obit, there's no reason why this fellow wouldn't...

I know from a year's worth of experience, you feel strangely unsatisfied upon completion. Fare thee warned.

Ertegun recovering.

Hmmm... there used to be one up there, I hadn't noticed that it had disappeared. Anyhow, there's a shiny new one up there now. Thanks for noticing!

Rollie Stiles, world's oldest major league baseball player, turns 100 Sharp as a tack mind you.

People. Specifically two types of people today. First of all, pathetic motherfuckers who can't get over mistakes/ways that you acted ages ago in the past and accept that you've put a hell of a lot of effort into improving who you were. Such people are petty, ignorant and shallow minded. Seriously, if a man strives hard to improve who is or improve the way he acts or reacts to things, you should appreciate that instead of dwelling on the mistakes that he may have made in the past. Seriously, not getting over it just makes you sad and pathetic, not to mention judgmental and useless. Second of all, backstabbing motherfuckers who break the rules and go behind people's backs and sh*t upon the organization that you're part of just to advance their own agendas. I can't even type anymore. I've been pissed off at three different things today and I've only been awake for half an hour.

Oh, I think you forgot my points. F**k F**k F**k F**k F**k F**k F**k. OK, I fixed it, but I'm not sending out another email until someone else dies.

Site updated to reflect Ferenc Puskas' death. Because college students never sleep.

Interview with Allen Carr. Still terminal, so no new news really, but thought it might be interesting nonetheless.

I said Joseph Barbera, because I haven't said him in a while. Could very well be Heston, Melly or Pinter though - all have gone quiet as of late.

Nick Du Toit / Simon Mann / Mark Thatcher
Canadian Paul replied to DevonDeathTrip's topic in DeathList Forum
Ol' Obiang to free all political prisoners (sooner or later). I don't know if this would count du Toit or not, but I thought I'd bring it up. -
All the same Paulie; Miltie was on the short list of deathables so it can't really be that big a surprise now can it be? Sides which he was a right-wing conservative sort of chap so the election last week may have been too much for his 94 year old geriatric heart...or maybe just the facty wacty that he was 94... You're right, it's not a surprise. Hence my line that it isn't surprising Furthermore, the point was that people were unlikely to choose him on this poll because of a lack of news, not that he was unlikely to die.
