    The Dead Of 2014

I agree, can people stop whining about deaths being reported for a second time in this thread, especially when it's a "big" name? What's the point of the thread if people look back through it at the end of the year and it's only filled with people who weren't famous enough, or were too "miscellaneous" to be put in another thread? Christ.

Ali, it's just a jokey reference to something I said in another thread. I think it's a bit of a running joke now. It comes from an observation I made in the Wilko Johnson thread in response to a guest having a go at DL. Have a look.

AKA "Comment Is Free. Unless you disagree with us on anything, in which case we'll delete you for "trolling" while we let deranged death threats and racist comments by lefties/Islamists stand." I'm getting Orwellian chills/skin crawling sensation just thinking about it actually.

    Death Anniversary Thread

On February 9th 2007, the brilliant Scottish actor Ian Richardson died at the age of 72. He was most famous for playing the ruthless, scheming politician Francis "FU" Urquhart in the BBC drama House of Cards (1990). He also played the character in two subsequent series later in the 90s. He had a long and varied career in TV and film, often playing fairly "intense" characters.

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

Wow, fuck! She looks really fucking upright/sturdy for a 92 year old. Wasted space on my list perhaps? Well, Pete Seeger was upright too about a week before he died, so........

Did anyone notice how Spade_Cooley's Derby Dead Pool team has more terminally ill people in it than an old episode of "That's Life"?

    Seen Any Good Films Lately?

When it comes to movies that feature elements parodying Saturday Night Fever, I prefer the disco scene in Airplane!, or the almost-unheard-of and surely unbroadcastable 1984 movie "Night Patrol", in which "Tony Baloney" (IIRC) is played in an early appearance by Andrew Dice Clay. I suppose I might watch that Tony Manero thing if it ever comes up on Film4. Definitely sounds a bit gimmicky though.

Does anyone else find it suspicious that Philip D. Whoshisface dies just as this guy becomes a minor celeb for his "castaway" story? http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/castaway-jose-salvador-alvarengas-incredible-story-official-says-fishy-tale-may-be-too-good-to-be-true-9106031.html Bit of ginger hair dye at work maybe?

I liked him in that one movie where he didn't play an insecure, beardy, middle-class type guy....... what was that one movie again? I forget.

    Shove Off, Eh?

Yes maybe there are but, that guy was just an oddball troll whose other contribution was a post about Louis Farrakhan being unable to attend the Virginia Country Music awards due to illness..... well, that one was funny at least. Are they really that sad though? If they genuinely don't know they're not real then they're just thick. It's the people who know they are fictional but like to pretend they are real that are probably the real sad cases!
