That's weird. If you can post here, you should be able to post anywhere on the forum. It's on a mobile so I have no idea how you find out the network ip address, i doubt it's an old one. The error's: Bad Request Your Browser sent a request the server could not understand. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. I only get it on this site, and I only get it when browsing through on the phone with mobile data (rather than connected to a wifi network.) Aha! That error message means that the web server running the forum was sent data it couldn't parse. The most likely explanation for that is that data got lost or damaged in transmission from the mobile phone, through several networks, to the web server. Mobile phone data transmission is particularly prone to this kind of errors, because your mobile is sending data using low-powered radio signals to the network receiver. When using the data link for voice transmission that's not a problem, it'll turn out as noise, but data transmission is much more picky. This is not a problem of the forum, there's nothing I can do about it. I'm far from an expert on mobile web usage, so I don't know if there's a solution. I can, however, suggest a few tests: Try with another mobile device, using the same SIM card Try with the same device, using a SIM card from another network provider Try from a different location

That's weird. If you can post here, you should be able to post anywhere on the forum. I know and a few threads disappeared I.e robin Gibb and Dennis nordens. I really hope this glitch get fixed I was waiting two mouths to post that Healey joke The Denis Norden topic still exists, he's a DL pick, no less. The Robin Gibb topic got merged with the Bee Gees topic fairly recently, on 19 April 2015 to be precise. What I suggest to investigate the matter about not being able to post on some topics is this: if you run into it again, try and post details about it in this one, in the same session. I'd like to know as much detial as possible: Which topic you're trying to post in Date and time of attempt to post Exact error message from the server What kind of internet connection you're using Of course you can also register as a user.

I haven't banned any IPs for months. Perhaps it's an old one that's blocking you. If you PM me the IP address you're using when you experience such trouble I can have a look.

Those aren't "rules" that's an FAQ. So Grim, I wouldn't waste any time in telling SC to go fuck himself. SC is a post whore who has appointed himself the role of moderator. And that's quite irritating. We have Real Moderators for that. Now that I mention irritating: did you discover the "Preview Post" option yet, SC?

Finally got around to updating this HOWTO to the latest forum software. Current version now 1.20.

Aye, but that story is fairly non-specific on who the alleged fraudsters might be. There were allegations of intimidation by UKIP at the polling station, so - does anyone know - are they the ones suspected of fraud. Fraud inquiry closed. http://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/577149/South-Thanet-election-fraud-investigation-closed UKIP however have admitted that they used espionage techniques against political opponents in the campaign, presumably illegal, no? That depends on which espionage techniques. Important ones, like reading their political writing or observing opponents from the public road or at meetings are perfectly legal.

75 years ago today my home town Rotterdam was bombed by the Luftwaffe. Some 800 people died in that raid, I won't name them, even if I could. To give an idea what it was about: Before: During: After the rubble was cleared: The pictures are taken from three different angles. Below their viewpoints are drawn on a modern map: Before in red, during in blue and after in green.

Ah yes, in the same way Al Gore founded the Internet. FIFA was founded in 1904 at least a deade before he was born. Yes, and the Brazilian FA wasn't a founding member (joined 1924). Neither was the English one (joined 1906), for that matter. The Dutch FA was.

I have a translation on my device and its basically about how he founded the Fifa Ah yes, in the same way Al Gore founded the Internet.

It's a somewhat difficult subject. Those who serve in the military during war, even doing a non-combat job, do a valuable service to their country. After all armies and navies don't run on soldiers, sailors and airmen alone. That said, the same can be said of the men and women who build ships, planes, tanks or paperclips. Until recently the Dutch attitude to veterans was rather low-key: they got a pension if they needed one and were supposed to keep quiet. There are reasons for that: the Dutch didn't do much heroic in WWII, they did in the Indonesian war of Independence, but that was a political defeat and their efforts in UN missions were often politically controversial. Occasionally veterans let themselves be seen and heard, but most chose to remain silent, even to their families and friends. During the last decade some more official recognition of veterans occurs, and immediately discussions started, also among veterans themselves, about desk soldiers and such. Apparently there's no right way of doing it. Anyway, at the occasion of 50 years of liberation in 1995, the city of Rotterdam did a marvelous thing: they invited hundreds of British, Canadian and US veterans, both airmen and soldiers, for a victory parade; air fare, accomodation and expenses paid by the city. It was a wonderful opportunity to give those men a big cheer and have a chat with them. It was a sunny day, so I took a few to the local beer garden for more chats and a good piss-up. It's sad to think most of them are dead now.

First or last name? Both? Last name only, it's a she after all, so David might have been a step too far. Well I was thinking perhaps they had changed their first name to Bowie, although that might be bordering a bit too far in the stalker realm of things. But then again I know someone who changed their last name to Danzig... With my question I meant she might have changed her name to Bowie Bowie. Not pretty, but it would show real commitment. In the Netherlands name changes are rare. The law allows a change of family name in specific cases only: adoption, getting the name of a stepparent or when the old name is a source of ridicule. A family name change is done by Royal Order, so the Minister of Justice has to approve. The process lasts about half a year. Changing a given name is easier, but only for a good reason and a court of law has to approve the application.

Normally I don't care much about wrong URLs, if I can I fix them and that's the end of it. In this case I can't, so I have to ask: what's got Derek Davis to do with that Horsley prick?

That was unexpected. Of course, LibDem's fate was sealed when they joined the coalition. It reminds me of an ideologically related Dutch party, D'66, a party that ordinarily gets good election results after opposition on a leftish ticket, join a right-wing coalition as a junior party and get thrashed at the next election. This table demonstrates this point well. I suppose it's a problem of European liberalism: they like socially progressive programs, but their economic instincts are conservative and those instincts win when government positions beckon. Large conservative parties are happy to sweep up their seats in parliament and throw them a bone in the form a few promises they don't intend to keep and rarely do. Their leftish voters will of course switch party in disgust at the next election. Essentially, LibDem got what they deserved. It seems to me Labour paid the price for being rather careless in the campaign. I have the impression that they expected to sweep up the disaffected LibDem voters easily. They did to some extent, but I think the Tories got a fair share as well. Also I think they underestimated the amount of Labour votes that went to UKIP. They should have known that fascists appeal most to voters with little education, the same pond Labour is fishing in. I don't understand what happened in Scotland. The Netherlands don't have a similar situation. SNP's victory is stunning. The Tories played their cards well. There's little more I can say about their result. The difference between the polls before the election and the outcome is a bit puzzling. Did the pollsters screw up? Did many people say one thing and decide to vote Tory in the polling station? Both? UK politics will certainly be interesting in the coming years. Once the shine wears off, mr Cameron may find his job a lot less attractive than it looks now. I'll give the consequences of the electoral system some thought and comment after the results are complete.

In other Dutch news: Dutch political activist Abulkasim Al-Jaberi, who shouted "Fuck de koning, fuck de koningin, fuck het koningshuis!"1 at a political rally in December, recieved a summons yesterday to face trial on May 27, accused of lèse-majesté. As was to be expected, this caused quite a stir, and today the public prosecutor announced that the trial has been put off and that he will reconsider the case. Interestingly, mr Al-Jaberi's lawyer called Willem-Alexander and Máxima as witnesses. 1Fuck the king, fuck the queen, fuck the monarchy!
