A fine author, whom I'll certainly miss. His novella Dorpsgeheimen (Village secrets) is brilliant. I considered him for my DDP theme team, but dismissed him because I don't expect his death will be reported in a DDP approved news source. regards, Hein

Not very likely. There's good money in it. regards, Hein

Fine idea. I don't see why not? If someone knows a way to get a few Euros to the UK without paying a few tenners in transfer fees I'm willing to contribute. regards, Hein Here you go: https://transferwise.com/ Their rates look reasonable. Who'll be buying the fragrant weeds? Bank details in PM, please. regards. Hein

Oddly their Harrogate branch re-located only a few weeks ago. The new shop is roughly the same size as the old, but located in a shopping centre as opposed to on a major shopping street. They probably got a rent free agreement with another landlord. another two hmv's to add to the 8 or so already closing. http://www.birminghampost.co.uk/business/business-news/more-jobs-misery-midland-hmv-6457276 http://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/news/10904211.HMV_in_Newport_to_close_in_January/ What is happening here is hilco wants to keep the stores running were they can get short term or long term rent free agreements so they can collect as much money as possible before the inevitable collapse . So maybe not complete closure in jan 2014 but hilco have no interest in keeping HMV going for the long term ,I give them 2 years max . So: The discipline of the market, or summat. Laat de Rode Haan maar kraaien, Als je 't kapitaal kunt naaien. as an old Dutch socialist song goes. regards, Hein

dead Prince Philip Duke Of Edinburgh
Magere Hein replied to BirdieNumNums's topic in DeathList Forum
Yup, he looks his racist old self again. One never knows with such oldies, of course; they can fall and break a hip, catch something nasty in hospital and buy the farm in a few days, but he looks fine. I don't think 2014 will be his year. I saw a pic of HM. She looks like she means to outlive Phil and Prince Charles. regards, Hein -

I think it's more a matter of all the big deaths so far this month using the majority of bandwith limit up and the spike in traffic upon his death pushing it over the edge, I'm sure whoevers paying deathlists bills hopes for a death-free rest of December as you normal have to stump up some cash to keep a site open when that happens or leave it dead for the rest of the month. That'll be Grim Reaper, AKA The Boss, online sightings of whom are rare. I think the above explanation of the blackout is essentially correct. More like: running out of bought bandwidth. It's unfortunate that one gets no refund for unused bandwidht in relatively death-free month. regards, Hein

Of course it's possible, but I'd say: not bloody likely. The chances of detainees doing/being done such things are slight. Just ask yourself: why is Ian Brady still alive? regards, Hein

Dutch footballer and father of footballers, now managers Erwin and Ronald, Martin Koeman suffered a heart attack and is in a coma. I couldn't find an English language news source, so a Dutch one must do. regards, Hein

Today in 1907 Irish-Scottish physicist William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, died, aged 83. For his work on thermodynamics the abolute temperature (Kelvin) scale is named after him. regards, Hein

This whole thing could of course just be a family affair: Kim: "Oh, Kim, you know your uncle and I have these terrible rows. Could you have a word with him?" Kim: "Say no more, Auntie Kim." regards, Hein
