Are all famous, solid picks in ill-health.

If you want to add an aged sportsman, then Parnelli Jones is getting increasingly frail.

  2. Tbh, I wasn't expecting any of the racers to have gone, but good to know.

I have checked Scotland's People recently, so I'm pretty happy that list is up to date.

If the namesakes - with the full names - were almost correct, I think it likely they are the ones (especially with the rarer names).

This is really good, you've save me lots of time.

  4. Thank you. To be honest, all the information we have is there. If you scroll along on the first post, you can see their full name (if known).

I appreciate it's not the clearest table, but it's the best I have with the forum restrictions.

The dates of birth are relatively solid, although the odd year may be different.

I'll have to look into this .html business as there's racing drivers I want to check too.

  5. I recently read about a reunion for the  Shadow F1 team employees. Most significant team members were there, but one missing due to 'ill health' was former team boss and Grand Prix driver Alan Rees. Might be worth considering, especially for a theme team. He'll obit With a QO without too many issues.

Yeah, I'm not seeing any sign that Law has turned up to Bobby Charlton's funeral.

Was David Sadler in attendance either? Both Law and Sadler missed the tribute at Old Trafford a few weeks back.

  7. Saw something on X about best World Cup Themes (My personal favourite is Aztec Gold (ITV 1986), ahead of Argentine Melody (BBC 1978), but both Italia 90 themes are pretty good.)

When looking at the opening credits of Italia 1990 for ITV, surely old Franz is f****d through this alone, irrespective of any health issues.

    2023 Charlton

    2022 Pele

    2020 Maradona, Rossi

    2016 Cruyff

Franz is last man standing. Sorry for shaky video, it was the best one I could find.

Maybe there's a theme team to be had here. The curse of World Cup theme music is not to be ignored (large Italian fan 1978, Ray Wilkins 1986, Gianluca Vialli 1990, Alan McLoughlin (original), Rashidi Yekini (revised) 1994), however Menotti lives on from 1978...

  8. Rumours on the German motorsport contingent on FaceBook, that Erich Zakowski, founder and team owner of the former Zakspeed Formula 1 team has died, just shy of his 90th birthday.

However, I've seen nothing from anyone I would class as an authoritative source yet. Suspect it's true but keeping an open mind.

Charles Duke now the last surviving crew member of Apollo 16. He is also the youngest surviving crew member of all of the Apollo missions at 88 years old, Mattingly was 87.

Really shows they are part of a dying breed: there are nine crew members left, aged 88-95.

(Apollo missions 10, 11, 15, 16 and 17 have one surviving member; infamous mission Apollo 13 has two living crew members while Apollo 8 has all three of them still living.

Apollo 12 and 14 have died out in 2018 and 2016)

I can't see Borman and Lovell going on for much longer unfortunately.

I note that Stepney, Kidd, Aston and Crerand are four of the five survivors of United's 1968 European Cup triumph. No sign of David Sadler, the fifth survivor.

I also note that there are currently five surviving players from the Benfica team - Henrique, Calisto, Cruz, Augusto and Simoes.

A very good observation regarding Sadler

    So, I found this https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.manutd.com/en/amp/news/detail/david-sadler-receives-division-one-title-winners-medal

Had to receive the medal at home and looks 10-15 years older than his 77 years.

I'd have to say Sadler is in pole position over Aston and Crerand to go next.

  11. Going through the DDP longlist, I noted that a recent Wiki edit of Lydia Reid's page had taken place, with the note that "my aunt died in June 2023".

This was reverted due to a lack of source material, but having gone on Scotland's people, the anonymous editor is right. I'm glad she got to bury her son after all these years fighting before she died. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lydia_Reid_(activist)

Hopefully someone can change her Wiki page accordingly.

Surprisingly nothing in the media as of yet.

I wonder if he actually died in Parliament itself? Been a long time since that happened. I believe you’re technically not allowed to so they don’t pronounce MPs/peers dead until they’re out of the grounds.

Who was the last MP and also Peer to die in Parliament?
