You and me both. I just know she'll kick the bucket just before the New Year's ball drops. I'm hoping she'll be another Lou Rawls personally.
-
Damn damn damn. She was going to be my 2012 joker.

Another of "Bradford's finest"... My mother and aunty/uncle live just up the road from where the Harrogate post office murder was (the post office isn't there anymore btw, though was for a long time afterwards). I've already set a stopwatch for how long it takes for one of them to mention it...

Was beginning to think he'd never go, especially as he's my main team's joker and we've had a rubbish year. Definitely a case of the wrong brother died. Sad news but seemed somewhat inevitable seeing as he's been in the media a lot in the last few days.

There should be an English language obit from the likes of esctoday.com sooner or later. Can't see the BBC doing one however - Toše Proeski got an obit but he was a big star in FYROM whereas Malina Olinescu wasn't really in Romania. Oh, and she's another now dead person I've seen live. She sang better at the dress rehersal than at the final, and was one of the most nervous people I've ever seen.

Don't think it's been posted yet (too tired to check properly to be honest) Author Helen Forrester, one of my mother's favourites who wrote lots of books about childhood/growing up in Liverpool, has died aged 92. A unique pick for Handrejka

I imagine he had no idea at that point that he was going to off himself within 12 hours - spur of the moment job if you ask me. Yeah, especially if the rumours of what was about to happen were true. Sad, shocking news. Saw him many times for Leeds. Top bloke and lovely off the pitch too. And while it may slightly bad timing to say such, he was well fit. RIP to a Leeds legend

Pop star and porn actress Andrea True, most famous for the hit 'More More More', has died apparently.

Robin Gibb battles liver cancer. Explains why he's looked so bloody awful recently. Liver cancer's a nasty one. A good bet for 2012 if he lasts that long I reckon.

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries, Etc...

Was a bit rubbish to put it mildly. Highlight of this year's birthday was probably collecting a urine sample from the cat. -
You can say anything you like now. He can't sue. Thank fuck for that, I've been dying to tell you all that I saw him and Dr Legg off Eastenders (he is dead, isn't he?) double-bumming a sea-lion at Bristol Zoo on the day of the Royal Wedding. Yeh, that's right, sue me now, you jingle-jangling corpse-fiddler! No, I am not dead. My lawyers will be in touch. Bring it on, eyebrow fiend. Then it will all come out about you and Wellard too. Not to mention Ethel's Willy...

Probably best remembered by viewers for A Place In France, doing up a house in France with his mate Nippi, and then later an ill-starred attempt at opening a curry house. Seemed a nice bloke but, gosh, someone should have knocked some sense into him in the various series of A Place In France.

Betty Driver Memorial Soapstar Superstar Thread

Seeing as we (surprisingly) don't seem to have a one-stop-shop thread for soap stars, Sue Lloyd, probably best known as Barbara Hunter from 'Crossroads', has died. -
Dinah Kaye deaded at 87. She actually died in September but for some reason an obit has only just surfaced.

Once again those Arab types don't think about those of us who do deadpools. Couldn't they have captured him and then waited until January 2012? But on a less selfish note, good riddance. Even if I did appear on breakfast television back in 1986 due to him.

Been in the news here too, mainly the Daily Mail. I have no idea why as how many people watch E! News over here? Probably about as many as do in Australia. Perhaps she has the same agent as the TOWIE lot and other no-marks who seem to get a lot of press in the DM too...

If the allegations do turn out to be true, wonder how he will be written out. Would be interesting to see how they would handle it Killed off unceremoniously I suspect. -
Betty Driver Memorial Soapstar Superstar Thread

It wouldn't be Jennifer Moss, who played Lucille Hewitt, by any chance? Lots of well-publicised problems with drink, drugs and men. Don't know if this was ever mentioned on the site (can't be arsed checking), but it seems that Jennifer Moss died in 2006. It was. Anyway, RIP Betty Driver. A lovely, generous lady and a very sad loss. -
One of my least favourite Eurovision entries ever. Thank goodness France Gall (whose 64th birthday it was yesterday) won that year.

Roy Walker apparently suffered a mild stroke a few days ago. It's good but he's not dead. Maybe one to watch?
-
That clip sounds more like Jacko forgot to put his nose on than being off his nut on drugs to me.

Can't find a link as yet but former Pentangle guitarist Bert Jansch has died following a long battle with cancer.
-
Though this sounds hopeful...

I agree Amsterdam is a bit touristy, and The Bullfrog is *definitely* for tourists only. Being selfish, Northern France would be nicely convenient for me. Avoid Armentieres though - completely dead on a Friday night and shuts about 10pm. Lille doesn't have a huge amount of spectacular nightlife either, even on Rue Solferino which is where the main late night bars are, but at least I know my way around the city and know where to park. Perhaps Bruges? We could always amuse ourselves by pushing notaguest out of the top of the Belfry...

Actor Jonathan Cecil has died. Sad news. Met him a couple of times when he was performing in 'Elling' and he was a nice chap.
