Damn. He was on my list last year

Looks like the cancer has spread to the spine and lungs according to the Guardian. indeed. Always loved X-Ray Spex; 'Germ Free Adolescents' is probably the best punk album of them all (go on, try and argue against that). One of the more surreal moments of my life was having a lovely conversation with a Hare Krishna/Gouranga man on Oxford Street who knew Poly and Lora Logic. I don't say this very often, but I hope her faith pulls her through. Looks rather bleak though. I don't like my childhood icons dying

Not quite-there are still 54 people alive verified to have been born in the 19th century.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_livin...percentenarians Only two left from the UK though. I expect the last one to go will get a fair amount of coverage.

Margaret Fish, formerly the oldest person in the UK, has died. The link isn't an obit but looks to be regarding the same person as it's a Bedford address and there can't be two people called Margaret Fish in the UK who are 112 and live in Bedford. Violet Wood, at a sprightly 111 years and 198 days, now takes over as oldest living UK bod. Eating toast and pickles is her secret to a long life.

Superstar polar bear Knut has died. Cause of death currently unknown.

Very sad news for anyone who was ever sick off school in the Seventies - cutlery botherer and painter Nancy Kominsky (of 'Paint Along With Nancy' fame) has died
-
*steps forward* I was aware of her as "the Mother of Islam". Perhaps someone would like to contact her via her website to ask if she's dead or not. And she's still purporting to be born in 1897 on there as well. Tsk.

Death Anniversary Thread

Didn't turn out nice again for George Formby 50 years ago today. -
Hmm. All sounds a bit Charles Hawtrey to me, and he died.

<stirs> Should have kept her on the list </ stirs>

Vinegar Tits my dear, you may be interested in the great Prisoner reunion of 2011: http://aca.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8219303 Great watch! My sister picked Patsy King (governor Erica Davidson) in her DDP list so I'm very pleased to see she's looking in fine health. Quite surprised at how old Elspeth Ballantyne (Saint Meg) looked however - I know she's a couple of years older than most of the cast, Davo and Lizzie excepted, but she seemed and sounded rather frail.

Noted this emoticon just so I could go "Chap with wings" in tribute, and forever mark myself done as a geek. Ahem. "Five rounds rapid" I've just amended my avatar in tribute because I am also a geek.

Actor Alfred Burke (Frank Marker from Public Eye) has died, according to a good friend who received the news from Burke's partner. Died in Kings College hospital on Wednesday of a chest infection. RIP.
-
Oil heir with one ear not very well
-
Me neither, as he's not in my DDP teams. Anyway, he's been released from hospital and not, by the look of it, "to die".
-
Err, where's Are You Still Dying Darling's team??? *sobs*

I'm currently winning the Popbitch 2011 DP as well even though it doesn't close for another three-and-a-bit hours. V sad news though; Karn was a unique bassist.

Confirmation of Mick Karn's death on his website, though the server is currently overloaded.
-
John Taylor's (Duran Duran) just said on Twitter that according to Curt Smith (Tears For Fears) Mick Karn (Japan) has just died. Awaiting official confirmation but it's probably true.

Can't be long now...
-
Is that Cheryl Lynn as in former Gong Show entrant and pop star?
-
Will there be a holi-holiday in memory of him? RIP mad Bobby. Another part of my childhood gone And probably the biggest death of the Christmas period for those of us of a certain age.
-
Unless he suffers from a sudden illness or a fall Charles Aznavour should be around a while yet. He seems to appear on 'Vivement Dimanche' every other week and is in fine fettle.

Dead - breaking news. Empire magazine have announced it on their Twitter feed, and Den Of Geek have a quick obit.
