As mentioned by me a couple of weeks ago as a possible, former Dynasty actor Christopher Cazenove has died.

Newcastle chairman Sir John Hall has incurable cancer. Prostate cancer can be a slow burner so he's not necessarily a dead cert for 2011, but worth keeping an eye on.

That took remarkably long. Here's a pic of Eugene before the flag of his Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging: Any resemblance to the Nazi flag is no coincidence. regards, Hein Was it a "blick" who murdered him? Anyway, good riddance.

Potentially interesting news from our favourite coffin tease.

Gazza's been a drunken twat again.... Driving without insurance and without a licence - I hope they throw the book at him. Knob.

Danielle Darrieux was on French chatshow 'Vivement Dimanche' a couple of weeks ago plugging her latest film 'Pièce Montée' and boy am I glad I didn't put her in my deadpool. Other than needing a little help to walk she was in fine fettle. She's still very active and looks and sounds incredible - you'd think she was mid 70s at the most. Of course, at her age a fall or a short illness is all it takes but other than something like that happening, I'd be surprised if she didn't see out her 100. As she was one of Max Ophüls' muses (not to mention playing Catherine Deneuve's mother in no less than four films!) she'll definitely get a UK obit. Another doyen of French cinema, Michel Piccoli (b. 1925, so getting on a bit) was also on 'Vivement Dimanche' the other week too. Again, another not to bother considering at the moment unless he gets ill.

Is it time for my Alex Chilton anecdote? Not much of one, really - I secured some pot for him at the 1993 Reading Festival. I saw the reconstituted Big Star three times, one of which was great and the others pretty disappointing. All three albums are great, though. I probably saw you at one of those gigs then as I did all the 1993 UK dates (purely for the support, Magnapop). The only one that was a bit dull was the London Grand (?) where me and a friend ended up in the pub over the road chatting to 3/4 of Madder Rose about the Michael Jackson paedo news that had just broken.

Just in case you're doing jazz browsing and can't be arsed reading the 'Death By Jazz' thread, Sir John Dankworth has died.
-
Sir John Dankworth won't be hearing his wife go "doo be doo shooby doo ba ba ba" again...

Sad news about Kate McGarrigle. And yes, she's another one I've seen live (Glastonbury 1992 in the acoustic tent - v good, and funny when she and Anna started bickering half way through!) RIP

Actress Monica Maughan has died. She's best known in the UK for playing the nice-but-dull inmate Pat O'Connell in Prisoner Cell Block H.

What about a bonus if Nelson Mandela dies during the World Cup?

*cough* post #180 *cough* Actually, seeing as he died of lung cancer putting "*cough*" is probably in dubious taste.
-
Steeleye Span founder Tim Hart died of inoperable lung cancer on Christmas Eve. Was last seen in late 2008, joining Maddy Prior at her Electric Proms gig. I shall stick a finger in my ear and sing something involving the words "rake" and "hey nonny nonny" in memory.

I saw Atomic Kitten (probably best not to ask the circumstances) when Kerry Katona was still with them so... you know, wishful thinking and all that

I read this interview a couple of months ago in which he claims to have tried it three or four times, but I thought it was a bit obscure to post. Edit - the final chapter - he's dead. Another to add to my (surprisingly short) 'people I've seen in concert who are now dead' list. I saw him support Kristin Hersh in 1994. Wasn't particularly impressed to be honest.
-
Arse. Marianne Stone was going to be on my 2010 list. But, seriously, sad news. She was probably in more films than any other British actress of her generation, albeit in small roles, but it was always a pleasure to spot her.

I didn't think he'd be back to ample health to continue his Tour 66 tour in Amiens on 8 January after such surgery complications. Providing he lives (!), will he reschedule the rest of the tour? It was supposed to be his farewell tour and it seems a bit of a damp squib to end on, unless he dies of course, which will be the ultimate finale. I'm tempted to put him on my 2010 list but I'm not sure I can bring myself to to be honest. Good for another 15 years at least in my opinion. Oh, and the Toppers were a bit embarrassing at Eurovision. I'd like to see the bring a bit of class back to Dutch Eurovision entries personally

A little snippet here says Johnny Hallyday was also treated for colon cancer earlier this year. Oops sorry, I forgot to mention I saw that magazine (well the advert outside the newsagents) a few months ago. I tend to forget people are interested in death and health scares as well as squids, Portsmouth, grammar and bricks. http://www.parismatch.com/People-Match/Mus...-cancer-131217/ There is also a Le Monde version but it is also in French and to read all you need to subscribe at a price which I guess is what we can expect for the English language press soon. He has been put into a coma. Colon, coma, perhaps next a fou-stop. And he's nearly Belgian. The surgeon who operated on Johnny Hallyday might be worth an outside bet if Hallyday carks it. Still, it won't do sales of his new Tour 66 CD any harm...

Can someone condense BS's post into a paragraph as, well, life's too short...

I guess those upcoming shows won't be happening now? All good publicity though - she'll probably sell bucketloads now. -
Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries, etc... for 2009
Vinegar Tits replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Many thanks for the birthday wishes. I'm not doing anything to celebrate as I've got no money (don't get paid until Friday) so... Rather a far cry from what I was doing 20 years ago this evening (finally saw All About Eve live despite being a fan for over three years) - many, may good times followed from that night *memories* -
Gawd, another one from my misspent youth... Liam Maher, singer of baggy also-rans Flowered Up, has died according to the official Heavenly (former label) page on Facebook. I know he had a raging heroin habit back in the day but don't know if that is in any way connected with his death.

What are the new health problems?

Barry Letts, Doctor Who producer from 1969-1974, has died aged 84. No exact details of what he died of but he had been battling cancer for quite a while, though had been in remission lately. Whilst very sad news, he was going to be on my 2010 list...
