Yes. MHOB is a collaboration between myself, my sister and various other people. AYSDD is my own personal one with my own personal picks (half of which were usually rejected by my sister). Don't think I'll be having my own one next year though - I'm losing track of who I've got in various deadpools.

Oooh, I've just put something with Harry Horse's work on Ebay. I'd better go and edit and bump the price up...

As did Linda Ronstadt. And *I* broke Sneaky Pete's death first, though admittedly it was unconfirmed at the time. So ner.

Anyone here seen The Eyes Of Tammy Faye documentary? She seemed a nice old bird if somewhat batty and certainly her heart seemed to be in the right place. She came across as a genuinely sweet person. But she's still the joker in my team. If she's as ill as she's rumoured to be death could be a blessed relief and surely, for her, not something to be scared about.

I'm surprised he hasn't been knighted - he's done more for art than any of the current so-called "artists", and I bet he inspired a fair few of them to pick up a pencil in the first place. Get well soon Tony, even if you are on my deadpool list.

Wikipedia and various specialist forums are saying that pedal steel guitar legend Sneaky Pete Kleinow has died of Alzheimers. Haven't found a proper obit as of yet but if he is dead that's a huge loss to country-rock.
-
Again? He did that during his match with Phil The Power Taylor a couple of years ago. Time to shape up or quit methinks.

Is there any possibility as to an ETA of when all the 2007 entries are going to be up and running on the site?
-
Thanks Melvyn for the tip-off for my team's first hit of the year! Sad that he has 'pass'ed though for, as others have already said, he was a bit of an icon.

Doesn't chemo/anti-cancer steroids cause some people to balloon? If she was hefty before she got ill then ok, if not then I'm afraid for once I'm with the ranters on this.

It's my first anniversary on here -
I don't see the point of Myspace personally. It's the Web 2.0 version of all those grey-coloured 'My Website' "Hello. I'm [whoever]. Here's some of my favourite links" [insert 'under construction' gif here]' ultimately pointless pages back in the early days of the internet when every man and his dog had to have a webpage about themselves. Horrible, horrible layout too for the most part. I do however have a Live Journal page and you can look up what utter rubbish I'm listening to on my Last.fm page. Yes, I am having a Eurovision-fest at the moment. Altogether now: "You know I'll beg, steal or borrow..." Beats listening to the depressing Ashes post-mortem anyway.

It's a bit sobering when someone who's nearly 110 has fewer forehead wrinkles than yourself, and I'm fairly wrinkle free for 34 too... She looks and sounds in fine fettle. Always worth a punt due to her age but I bet the seemingly immortal Brooke Astor goes before she does.

Another person I've worked with. She half scared me to death at first (very forthright to put it mildly) but she was alright. Better than Jane 'Twunt' Moore anyway. Anyway, here's hoping the first BB death will be when Jade goes in this weekend

I remember that knocking around Usenet. IIRC, he was generally regarded as sane as Mike Corley (MI5 and Chris Tarrant's biggest fan). The big thing happening in 2012 is interesting though as isn't that when something big and nasty with consequences for the world is supposed to happen, and I'm not talking about the London Olympics either

He'd have been more likely to off himself back when he was still using heroin. Despite his personal demons (bitterness, mainly), he seems reasonably well-adjusted and balanced at the moment so can't see him departing to the great moshpit in the sky just yet.

It's my thread so I'll say what I like. While the title is 'born in the 19th century' (of which 1900 is), you know I mean up to 1899. So ner.

10 and Fidel Castro.

Reading the WWI veterans thread got me thinking - how many people who were born in the 1800s are still with us? Seeing as the youngest will be 108 this year it can't be too many, but are there any actual figures available? It's odd thinking that when I used to read the Guinness Book Of Records avidly (before it was dumbed down into a bitesize-info kids book) there were loads - probably hundreds of thousands - but now... ?

So what happens to those of us who have already entered our deadpool teams AND have used their reserve thanks to Gerald Ford popping off? I suspect there'll be quite a few of us...
-
I still reckon Pinter might do what's he's been threatening to do all year. Mind you, then my 2007 DDP entry really will be buggered seeing as my reserve has already been promoted to fully-fledged candidate due to the death of Gerald Ford.
-
They're going to have to change their name for next year... Can't say it's going to have much standing on my DDP position - might bump me into the mid 20s but that's it

I don't remember him (Jimmy Carter was the first US president I remember) so while his passing is sad for his family and friends, and America as a whole, on a personal level it doesn't mean a huge amount to me. Still, he seemed like a decent man and was what the US needed at the time and he fulfilled that role admirably. RIP I wonder how long Betty will hang on for now?

Oh I don't know. It is Scouse after all...
