To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Alien Film Franchise, six new short films are to be released. March 29: "Alien: Containment" — Four survivors find themselves stranded aboard a small escape pod in deep space. Trying to piece together the details around the outbreak that led to their ship's destruction, they find themselves unsure to trust whether or not one of them might be infected. Written and directed by Chris Reading. April 5: "Alien: Specimen" — It's the night shift in a colony greenhouse, and Julie, a botanist, does her best to contain suspicious soil samples that have triggered her sensitive lab dog. Despite her best efforts the lab unexpectedly goes into full shutdown and she is trapped inside. Little does she know, an alien specimen has escaped the mysterious cargo, and a game of cat and mouse ensues as the creature searches for a host. Directed by Kelsey Taylor. April 12: "Alien: Night Shift" — When a missing space trucker is discovered hungover and disoriented, his co-worker suggests a nightcap as a remedy. Near closing time, they are reluctantly allowed inside the colony supply depot where the trucker's condition worsens, leaving a young supply worker alone to take matters into her own hands. Written and directed by Aidan Brezonick. April 19: "Alien: Ore" — As a hard-working miner of a planet mining colony, Lorraine longs to make a better life for her daughter and grandchildren. When her shift uncovers the death of a fellow miner under mysterious circumstances, Lorraine is forced to choose between escape or defying management orders and facing her fears to fight for the safety of her family. Written and directed by the Spear Sisters. April 26: "Alien: Harvest" — The surviving crew of a damaged deep-space harvester have minutes to reach the emergency evacuation shuttle. A motion sensor is their only navigation tool leading them to safety while a creature in the shadows terrorizes the crew. However, the greatest threat might have been hiding in plain sight all along. Directed by Benjamin Howdeshell. April 26: "Alien: Alone" — Hope, an abandoned crewmember aboard the derelict chemical hauler Otranto, has spent a year trying to keep her ship and herself alive as both slowly fall apart. After discovering hidden cargo, she risks it all to power up the broken ship in search of human life. Written and directed by Noah Miller. -

There's a good, very bright visible pass of the International Space Station over the British Isles this evening. The altitude ranges (at maximum) from about 25 degrees above the horizon in Thurso to directly overhead in the south of England. It comes over the horizon to the west, goes over the south and sets in the east. At latitudes around and below London, it goes more or less directly overhead. Maximum is at 8 o'clock - give or take a couple of minutes - depending on your location. https://spotthestation.nasa.gov/

Although he's not in the photo above, I'm pretty certain this teacher has croaked:

If he is still with us he'll have to be at least 90. Although a lot of 'em would be over 100 now, the only one I'm certain of being dead is Derek Carter, fourth from left, middle row. He was my sixth-form master and would check the smoking room toilets to complete morning registration.

The face if familiar but I don't recall his name and he wasn't a foreigner; all staff and pupils were caucasian for the first three years I was there. I can name about a half of them and my favourite is Jock Shields (physics teacher, second from right, back row) who had a terrific sense of humour and took every opportunity to explain Brownian motion because it gave him an excuse to smoke a fag in class.

Mr Thompson (the guy on the left) buggered off half way through my Russian 'O' level course to take up a position at a public school (I think American's say private school). Mr Light (the guy on the right, who was fluent in Russian and French) refused to give up one of his French language classes to allow us to finish the course.

The EU Referendum Hokey Cokey
Cat O'Falk replied to YoungWillz's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
However, on a serious note. At this time, the U.K. will leave (with or without an agreement) on the 29th March at 2300hrs GMT, irrespective of all the voting taking place in parliament at the moment. The only legal alternative to this is if we ask the E.U. for a delay. All 27 other states have to agree to a delay; if just one says 'no', there will be no delay and we leave irrespective of whether a deal is in place or not.
