New Here And Just Saying Hello
Cat O'Falk replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Yes and apparently I'm the target judging by what happened in the early hours of this morning when I was summarily and swiftly removed from the chat room as soon as I entered because there was a teenager in there. I've checked the chat. No one removed you. Sometimes it just happens. It's happened to me. I'll wager you didn't get a message from a moderator when it happened to you. Edit: I'll wager even more that you never got a message from a moderator when Deathray's avatar disappeared a while back. I was messaged on both occasions. -

I forgot to post this yesterday; my sincere apologies are proffered. I know it's only three years ago that Sir Patrick Moore died aged 89 but as an amateur astronomer I remember it well. I was surfing the web on a Sunday lunchtime with the BBC News Channel on TV in the background when it was announced Sir Patrick had died. A couple of weeks later, in a local shop, I bumped into Dr Paul Abel (a regular contributor to The Sky at Night at the time) and asked him if the program would continue. He said he had reason to think it would and I discovered later that Dr Abel lives less than two minutes walk from where I live.

Given rumours I've heard in the past and probably you have too, are you thinking what I'm thinking?

I wondered where I'd left 'em. I keep forgetting. -
If you're going south to north across the Firth of Forth and the Forth Road Bridge, Kincardine Bridge and Stirling Bridge are buggering up your journey, just park up and go to the Soo Hoose (Carronbridge Inn) in Carron Road Falkirk and have a few pints of heavy. I've been to scores of pubs all over Scotland and none of them matches this one for down to earth friendliness. I walked in for my second visit three weeks after my first and was greeted by the barmaid with 'hello again hen, pint of heavy is it?'

France, again. New Year's eve. Around 250 on a train shooting. I often say I have problems with God, it some of his fan club that scares me.My neighbours are devout Lutherans. Just a couple of years ago when we had the vote to allow same-sex marriage, they were outspoken in their opposition to it. Even to the point of putting up a sign stating "1 man + 1 woman = 1 marriage". Even though I get on well with them, I can't help secretly hoping one of their kids comes out declaring they're gay. Yeah, people who openly oppose gay marriage annoy me. It doesn't affect your life at all, why do you care what other people do? Well their argument tends to be that people should only get married for the purposes of procreation. In which case post menopausal women and infertile couples should be outlawed from getting married. One of the dates comments I saw around that time was if they permit gay people to marry, they because they can't procreate that they would die out. Then they'll quote Leviticus 18:22 then if you question which other rules in the book of Leviticus they believe, they'll say "oh Peter said you can ignore the old scriptures" If it was such a huge deal, surely that would have featured highly on the 10 commandments. Except in a gazillion years, no-one ever suggested that should be the case, until it was cooked up for the purposes of that incredibly irksome sideshow of a fucking argument Seriously that chestnut could not be more annoying if it had "Part of the Discworld series" emblazoned on it. Let me guess you're a homophobic shit as well as racist one. To be fair, Dr. Z is aware of my sexuality and in our various chats over time he's never come across as homophobic; quite the opposite in fact.

Interesting story. I actually believe that Blatter never participated actively in the corruption itself. But his system was "you can get your money, I just want the job", i.e. he knew all about it, only wanted to top job for himself, and possibly uses his knowledge to block potential rivals. Another indication that he can't live without FIFA - if he had wanted more money for himself, it might have shown that he has other interests in his life, but I suspect he doesn't. A fair assessment I'd say based on watching Panorama tonight, though Blatter's salary and other benefits leave him extremely wealthy. He may well be on his way to jail, mind, where the top job is something like stamping out library books to fellow inmates. Or working in the kitchen where there's access to pineapple chunks.

I know we're supposed to be original but this one from The Graham Norton Show the other week with Messrs. Depp, Cumberbatch and Norton is good. It would have been better though if Norton had closed his eyes.

So, How's Your 2016 Shortlist Looking?
Cat O'Falk replied to Spade_Cooley's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
GREAT? So she's in say Elizabeth Taylor's category? Or is there another word beyond Great for those actresses? Or have we watered down the word 'great' so that everyone gets a Participation Trophy? SC Iconic.
